Long story

2020.09.18 07:26 anononymous_idiot Long story

I want to start off this story by saying that I’m going to keep my anonymity by changing the names, and specific locations, of what happened on the days of September 13-15th of 2008. To this day, I’ve never shared the full details to avoid being labeled as crazy, but I remember every, SINGLE, detail.
I had just graduated college, and had accepted a position at an engineering firm in June of 2007. I had a hard time finding a job at that time, so I finally took a job in the Midwest in a town I knew nothing about. Everything went pretty well that first year. I was pretty lonely, because it was really my first time ever being away from home. But I loved my job.
Fast forward to summer of 2008. A coworker and I are sent off to inspect a road construction job 200 miles from my new home, and have to live in a hotel all summer. This hotel is in a very small town with probably ~500 people living in it. The only bar in town is right across the street, so that’s where we spent most of our free time.
September rolls around, and all we have left on the job is striping, and a few other small things. The general contractor, we will call him Dan, had pretty much wrapped up his portion of the work, as he’d hired subcontractors to do signing, striping, etc. He tells us that the stripers will be in on Monday, since they don’t work weekends. My coworker and I were excited to hear this because we had been working Monday-Saturday practically all summer. My coworker said he was going home for the weekend to see his GF, but since I was single, I just decided to stay since I really did not want to drive three hours both ways.
At this point in the project I had become pretty friendly with some of the locals. There was a girl my age there who I was casually dating. And most of the older regulars at the bar had started to get to like me, too. I was drinking pretty heavily in those days, so I of course went to the bar on this Friday night. The girl I was seeing could not come, since she had to go see family that weekend. And as was usually the case, I drank WAY too much.
I woke up Saturday to a loud knock on my door. I look at the clock, 6:33 AM. I’m thinking, “what in the hell?”. I get up to answer, and the lady says, “The stripers out on Highway 10 have been calling us ALL morning wondering where you’ve been.” I was SO confused, but was too hungover or tired to think logically. Looking back, how would they know where I’m staying? But I was just kinda in panic rush mode at that point. Of course I didn’t charge my phone or laptop Friday, so those were both dead. I finally get outside and realize my truck is still across the street at the bar. I run over, grab it, and start heading towards the job site. The site is like 45 min from my hotel, but 30 mins into the drive, I realize I forgot the hard copy of my plans in my room, so I had to turn around and drive back. I remember feeling kinda scared that I was late, but I was also pissed, because I was told I had the weekend off.
By the time I get to the job site around 9 AM, I see an older man and a kid about my age there waiting. At this point I’m absolutely exhausted as I didn’t even get the chance to grab a coffee or something. I go and greet them, and something seems, well let’s just say, a little off. The two men looked completely filthy, even for someone working in construction. But they hadn’t done anything yet, so how could that be? They also both had scars all over their bodies, mostly burn scars. The older gentleman than said to me “Man, Dave’s gonna be pissed at you when he finds out how late you were”. In my head I was so confused:
  1. I have no idea who Dave is, I’m assuming he means Dan.
  2. Buddy, I wasn’t even supposed to work today.
He then said, “is that SOB ever going to pay us? He never payed us last time so he’s lucky we are outta work otherwise we wouldn’t be here”. I didn’t really know how to respond to that, I almost half thought he was giving me shit, so I naturally did a quick fake laugh to break the silence. He didn’t laugh, and neither did the other guy. They just stared at me. I then responded with, “well, I’m not really sure because that’s not my job to make sure you get paid”. He looked at me dead in the eyes, and said, “Fine. My names Clyde and this is my boy here, Jim. Next time you see Dave, tell him he owes me, and his wife’s good in bed.” I involuntarily, awkwardly, half nodded and went to paint out where they need to stripe.
After painting out lines for them for about 2 hours, I got in my truck and let them get to work. I was so tired at this point I just turned on the radio and leaned my seat back. I knew at the time that this whole situation was odd, but brushed it off, mainly due to the fact of being completely hungover.
Once they start working around 11 or 12, I start to notice more and more how fucked up this is. The truck they drove could not have been newer than the 70’s, and the equipment they were using was way out dated. I started to get really hungry around 1, and told Clyde I was gonna run to a nearby gas station to get some food. He laughed and said, “There ain’t a food joint within 35 miles of here, why didn’t you just pack your own lunch?”. At this point I’m borderline furious with the dude. I kept my composure, and told him he could call me if he needed anything (forgetting my phone was dead). He looked confused, laughed, and said, “Call you? Well I don’t have a phone out here so how could I call you?”
Now I wasn’t extremely shocked at this point that these people didn’t have phones. Normally I’d be somewhat surprised, but it was 2008 and not everyone had phones yet. Also, these guys looked like they just got done working 15 hours cleaning up sewage. I angrily responded, “Fine, I’ll wait”.
I started to get extremely bored so I got out and started watching them up close. To be fair, they were doing a good job, but moving at a horrifically slow pace. I finally broke my silence around 5 PM. I told Clyde, “look, I wasn’t even told I was supposed to work today. I was told you guys don’t work weekends, so I was just hoping maybe we could call it quits and startup again on Monday? I mean Dan doesn’t even know you’re here right now so he will probably be pleased that you at least have a head start”. Clyde glanced back confusingly, “Dan? Who the hell is Dan?”.
At this point I’m thinking I should just start calling Dan “Dave” to avoid further conversation with this man. Clyde thinks about it for awhile, and says “Yeah, okay. Dave told me to work late, but fuck him anyway.” I breathed a sigh of relief and laughed it off. He interrupted my laugh by saying “yeah, fuck him and I’ll fuck his wife!” He then let out the most TERRIFYING laugh I’ve ever heard, and his son joined him in laughter. At this point I’m pretty freaked and kinda fake laugh with them. But I can’t describe to you how terrifying their laughs sat with me at that moment.
I finally get into my truck, and start writing my notes down from the day, when I was interrupted by Jim at my window. I was shocked because he didn’t say a word all day. I could no longer see Clyde anymore, and their equipment and truck were mysteriously gone. I said “what’s up?” And all he said was, “Dave will never be forgiven for what he did to us. My dad and me will be in heaven watching him burn in hell”. His face then got really pale, and he tilted his head, and gave me a TERRIFYING smirk that I’ll never forget. At this point, I’m absolutely terrified. I roll up my window, without a response, and GTFO of there.
I don’t remember much after that. I woke up absolutely sweating and looked at the clock, 6:33. At first, I thought I was living in the Groundhog Day movie. Than, I thought, “damn, that was by far the most realistic nightmare I’ve ever had”. I got up and realized it wasn’t a dream. My clothes were all laid out from the day, boots covered in white paint, and my laptop was exactly where it was when I took it out to check battery that morning. The rest of my clothes were a mess around my suitcase from being in such a hurry. Finally, I checked outside to find my truck not at the bar, but at the hotel. I guess it was Sunday morning. Or so I thought.
I went down to the lobby to get some breakfast, but nobody was eating breakfast. In fact they weren’t even serving it. I looked outside and the sun was setting, not rising. I checked my phone, which was somehow now charged, and it was 7 PM, not AM. At this point I decide that I was just in such exhaustion, that maybe I blew everything a bit out of proportion today. So I went to the bar to get some food and some drinks.
Once at the bar, I didn’t socialize much. Mostly just ate basically the entire menu and starting getting a buzz going with the drinks. Later in the night, I got drunk enough to ask if anyone knew a striper company with a father and son named Clyde and Jim. The normally lively group all a sudden looked at me like they’d see a ghost. After an extremely long silence, one guy asked, “why?” I said, “well, they did striping today for the job I’m working at, and it was a pretty strange day”. The group now even look MORE confused. Someone finally broke the silence and said, “that’s not funny, kid”. I was confused as hell, and even MORE confused because the bartender cut me off after that. I went home and got some much needed, sleep.
Sunday morning was pretty normal that day, I just sat in bed watching football. I decided around 4 PM to enter my handwritten notes from Saturday into my online work journal. I went to my truck to grab my notebook I wrote them in, and the notebook was gone. Confused, but not even surprised at that point. I knew something was going on, but was too scared to know what. Finally, curiosity got the best of me, so I texted my girlfriend who I’d been seeing that night, and asked her about a Clyde and Jim. She said she wasn’t sure, and told me to ask the guys at the bar, because they know pretty much everyone within 100 miles. I rolled my eyes and just said “okay”.
Nothing freaked me out more than what happened Monday morning. I showed up Monday morning, and Clyde and Jim are nowhere to be found. There was a different crew there, one that actually looked like they belonged in this decade. My coworker was going to be a little late due to the fact that he chose to drive back Monday morning. I show up, and what I saw next left me speechless. Nothing had been striped. Nothing had been painted out. It looked exactly before it did before the 8-9 of work that happened Saturday. Dan was right, the stripers WEREN’T coming until Monday. Who, or WHAT, I saw on Saturday, I don’t know. At least I didn’t, until that night.
The entire day I was in absolute terror and shock. I painted out the stripes, not even needing the plans, because I had JUST done it two days prior. I got in my truck after I finished and my coworker finally shows up. I was too scared to tell him what had happened, so I just said “I’m driving back to the hotel, I don’t feel very good”. He was fine with it and I left. I arrive around 1 PM and go straight to the bar. I walk in, and there’s only a few people there at this hour, but they all get quiet when they see me. I’m trembling at this point, but I muster up the energy to ask “Who is Clyde and his son Jim?” They all again look confused, except the bartender (who we will call Jesse). His eyes start to swell up and he just goes outside for a smoke. One of the regulars, we will call Bob, who had sort of become a friend at this point, pulled me aside and said “how the hell do you know them?” I told him, “they striped for my job on Saturday”. He looked me dead in the eye and said “boy, I’m serious. This isn’t fucking funny and definitely not something to joke about here”. At this point I’m visibly shaking in fear, nearly crying. I have no energy for words, but I can tell bob understands I’m not bullshitting him. He EVEN started to look terrified.
After awhile he shook his head and said the following. “Jesus Christ... okay. Clyde owned a striping business in town called “Clyde and Sons Striping”. Those three worked hard, but barely made ends meet. Jim was about 7 years younger than us, and didn’t really have much for friends. He was awkward and pretty shy. Although, the entire gang used to visit this bar pretty frequently. Clyde’s wife left him after Ben was born, for a man named Dave. Dave was the rich-boy of the town who got handed pretty much everything. He took over his daddy’s construction business in ‘62. Dave routinely would hire Clyde for work, and refuse to pay him out of spite. Spite for knowing, that his wife only left Clyde for his money, not because she actually loved him. Clyde hated Dave. Had plans to even kill him, but he had two boys to take care of. Instead, Clyde started sleeping with his ex-wife while she was married to Dave. When Dave found out, he was irate. He hired Clyde just to get him on his job site. Clyde hesitated due to his past experiences with Dave, but he was about to be run out of business if he didn’t take a job. Dave was surprisingly, very generous. He even payed back all the times he fucked him over for upfront, and then some. And then, all our lives changed. I remember it like it was yesterday. Jesse was supposed to be there with his brother and dad that day, but me, him, and a bunch of buddies went out drinking Friday night and he was too hungover to show up. Dave came to this bar around 9 AM that Saturday, started getting all liquored up and bitching about how much he hated Clyde. Now, everyone in town hated Dave. So everyone kinda tuned him out and had NO idea what he was about to do. He got in his truck around 12 pm, drove to his job on Highway 10, and noticed Clyde and Jim were sitting in the truck eating lunch. He drove into their stationary truck going around 70 mph. Clyde and Jim must’ve survived because the doctors determined they breathed in smoke. They determined they were trapped in and breathed in smoke for around 10 minutes, and burned to death slowly. They never found Dave’s body. The bartender that day was a good friend of Clyde’s. When he found out the news, he drove to the site of the crash that night and shot himself. It was the worst day of all of our lives.”
At this point I’m speechless, and shaking uncontrollably. Bob was tearing up pretty bad by now. Jesse was still outside, I can only guess he was crying too. I gave Bob a hug and went to my hotel and cried. I didn’t even ask Bob what year this happened, but that “kid” couldn’t have been older than me that I “saw” that day. And I remember celebrating Bob’s 65th birthday that summer at the bar. That would mean Jim would’ve been ~58 in ‘08, dating the crash back to the mid 1970’s.
After that job was done, I drove back to my hometown. I didn’t even tell my boss, or anybody. I got fired obviously, but I didn’t care. I landed a job in my hometown that I’m still working for to this day. I’ve never really been “haunted” by this experience, but every mid-September, I always remember the horrifying laugh, and smirk that I witnessed that day.

2020.09.14 11:50 Orsonius2 12 years Single. Absolutely no success with online dating for years. No clue what to do.

Obviously a venting post.
Where to begin...
I'm 31, male, live in Germany and haven't had a gf or any other intimate relationship since I was 19 (back in 2008 roughly june)
And the few "relationships" I had lasted no longer than a month. So I am also quite inexperienced.
Let's start with online dating.
I started online dating roughly around 2013 maybe earlier, when I got ok cupid. At the time it wasn't very popular in Germany and not many people used it, so I wasn't very successful with it. I managed to chat with a few people but that was it.
In 2018 I installed Tinder after my psychologist recommended me to do something about my isolation. It was the first step for me in years for finding someone to be with. However after 2 months of swiping with no luck I bought tinder gold out of frustration.
While now I saw people who liked me (not very many) and I was able to get some matches, they never lead anywhere. i almost managed to meet up with 2 people but that's how far it got.
In 2019 I decided to try out bumble. And while bumble barely got me matches or likes I was able to finally have a match with someone and meet them.
After my first date in 10 years we never spoke again.
With corona lockdown online dating came to an end. until 2 weeks ago where I started to swipe again. I deleted my accounts and made some new. Posted a few new pictures of myself and got swiping.
On ok cupid I regularly message those who I was most drawn to (it allows for 1 message when you like someone)
On tinder I have a few likes (maybe 7 or 8 but no matches so far and not willing to pay 30 bucks again to see who liked me)
and on bumble absolutely nothing.
No one messages me back on ok cupid and the other 2 don't lead to any matches, even though I swipe every day (selectively) until I can no longer.
I'm looking for women between 25-32, I tried 23 but I think they probably aren't interested that much in someone as old as me, and older women probably too.
I don't look for hookups but something serious. I don't do ONS or sex only relationships, quite the opposite.
Now about real life dating.
When I was younger I used to go out, go to bars, clubs, concerts, parties. Everything. Not once have I met someone this way who I either became friends with or who became a romantic partner of mine. Not even making out or anything. I managed to talk to people at social gatherings but that's it.
All my friends I met either through school, the internet or through other friends.
So the "go to bars and meet people there" strategy never worked for me. And it's not like I don't like to talk. I do, it's just that no one ever had any interest in me.
For a couple of years however I am dealing with either social anxiety/agoraphobia which makes it very difficult for me to go out. I lost all my friends I had (not just because of that but partially because of it) and live mostly isolated. When I am surrounded by too many people I get panic attacks or at the very least a bad mood caused by too much stress.
Another issue I have is that I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Most people I see online on dating sites have photos of them drinking alcohol, smoking or talking about 420friendliness.
It's not like I never did those things but, I don't like alcohol or being drunk (I am horrible when drunk and can't control myself so I don't drink, I also don't like the taste) which at least according to ok cupid is a negative, to not drink.
Smoking was always something I kinda looked down on, but 50% of women in Germany smoke, and while I could tolerate it, it certainly is a negative.
I used to smoke weed but thanks to my regular panic attacks I no longer can, so I don't.
Sports don't interest me, but it seems that pretty much everyone does some kind of sport (women apparently love climbing, I would never do that because I'm afraid of heights)
So that also makes it hard to meet people or even find something I have in common with them, and admitting to people that I don't do sports (which I have done when matches asked me what kind of sports I do) leads to an instant unmatching.
Outside of that I have dysthymia (formerly known as persistent depressive disorder, or "high" functioning depression) with an ever-increasing anhedonia (lack of pleasure from things you used to enjoy) and only few things in life bring me joy or interest me.
I would argue that one compounding factor in my depression is the lack of any intimate relationship and the extremely low self esteem I have from both the permanent reminder that I am undesirable but also my bad experiences as a child, teenager and later adult.
Using dating apps makes me also even more depressed. I'm not at least 6 feet tall which for some reason is bad, I don't like to party and get drunk, which again seems to be something negative. And of course I don't seem to be very attractive because sites like tinder mostly go for attractiveness as opposed to personality or hobbies.
So what do I actually enjoy or do most of the time? Well I work. and then I also do music (I play guitar in a still unnamed band, we are working on material).
Outside of that I like to learn new things about psychology, philosophy and I enjoy watching anime (something i don't openly admit on dating sites because it's not very popular). I used to like playing video games but my anhedonia basically killed that interest.
Music is pretty much the only thing that is a more mainstream interest I have, though my taste in music is pretty unpopular especially given that most women seem to enjoy EDM/Techno/House or Rap/Hop Hop which I don't like.
One last thing: I don't like sex. I am still not sure why that is, maybe I am asexual(or something akin to it) or I have a psychological issue which killed my interest in sex but not liking sex is also a major hindrance in finding someone. I try to keep it hidden so it can't be the reason people don't match with me.
Okay before I just go on ranting forever I stop here.
31 male no matches on dating sites, have panic attacks so can't really go outside, but even when I did lead to nothing, don't drink or do drugs, don't like typical interests like sports, dancing/parties or bars suffer from dysthymia/anhedonia, lack of experience in both sex and relationships

2020.09.11 23:15 floppyballs13 The Coin Shortage And Covid-19: Two Hoaxes Intertwined

There is this narrative going around that there is a coin shortage in America. It has become quite ubiquitous. It is also very underreported in the mainstream media. I have personally experienced a high number of merchants that demand either exact change or a credit/bank card in order to make purchases. But why is there a coin shortage? Is there REALLY a coin shortage? I have some thoughts on these matters.
First, the official explanation is that the shortage is to be blamed on the Covid-19 outbreak. The narrative is that the lack of economic activity that otherwise would keep coins flowing has caused the shortage. For example, in a particular article it is asserted that businesses that use coinage as currency are essential to keeping coins flowing throughout our economy; for example, coin laundries. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/adviso2020/07/20/is-there-really-a-coin-shortage/amp/
Now, forgive me here, but if the robust and behemoth American economic machine is dependent on coin laundries, then we are in deep shit. End of story. Also, I do not remember there being coin shortages in the 2008 recession or during other economic downturns. The undeniable fact is that even though our 2020 second quarter GDP contracted due to low activity (i.e., Covid-19 lockdowns), we still did not experience coin shortages during the months and months our GDP maintained consistently LOWER levels during Obama’s reign of economic ignorance and stupidity. see also for coin shortage, https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/policy/finance/513418-us-mint-director-asks-americans-to-tackle-national-coin-shortage%3famp
Simply stated, the Covid-19 fiasco is NOT the basis of a coin shortage. Further, and just so we are perfectly clear here, Covid-19 did absolutely nothing to negatively affect our economy. Instead, it was the government mandated lockdowns that (1) essentially made it illegal for certain businesses to function and for people to go to work, and consequentially, (2) drastically reduced economic activity. Now, just for the hell of it, let’s pollute this article with some facts. The population of America in 2020 is approximately 331 million (Newshour, PBS.org, “3Ways That the US Population Will Change Over the Next Decade”, Dudley L. Poston, Jr., The Conversation, January 2, 2020). The CDC says there are 6,608,623 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in America, with 196,810 deaths that are Covid-19 related. Now, let’s forget for a moment that there are major problems with these numbers and that these numbers were only released to the public after some deep-state, bureaucratic hacks ok-ed their release. I will use their numbers for this point. Also, these numbers are cumulative for the time period extending to 6 months before today. So, while 6 million cases are a lot, there has never been 6 million people with Covid-19 AT THE SAME TIME.
The math says that 6,608.623 is 2% of the US population. It also says that 196,810 is 0.00059, or 0.059%, of the US population, which is a statistically insignificant number. Let’s play with these numbers. As mentioned, even if 2% of the population has Covid-19, that is not nearly as bad as it sounds on a practical level. The group most at risk are elderly people who are presumably retired or disabled anyway and who live on a fixed income. As a matter of fact, they do not contribute to the workforce directly in any significant way on a macro level, their income stream is not eliminated when they are sick, and their purchasing power is usually below poverty level. Next are the disabled people with morbidities. Included in these are the fat-fuck degenerates with Type 2 diabetes who you see in line at McDonalds and who wear running close as everyday garments. These people do not contribute much to the economy because they cannot. Their slothfulness and appetite for fried foods usually result in co-morbidities, like heart disease. Many of these types receive Social Security Disability checks each month and are, therefore, occupying the same relative position of having negligible economic impact.
So, even if 2% of the population were to have Covid-19 at the same time, it should have a de minimus impact on our economy. In reality, there was never, EVER, 2% of the US population that was infected with Covid-19 AT THE SAME TIME. We are only talking about around 20,000 new cases a day. The duration of the virus is 14 days. 14 x 20,000 = 280,000. If we then go a step further and assume a continuing occurrence of Covid-19 at this level, 280,000 is 0.00084, or 0.084%, of the total US population. That is, well-less than 1% of the US population is infected with Covid-19 at any given time, and the overwhelming majority of them are old and in poor health already (i.e., they are not employed, and illness does not affect their incomes). Let’s face it, our economy is not based solely on Ensure and Twinkies. When you take into account that the government numbers have serious issues and may be way overstated, the reality sets in that Covid-19 is not having as bad an impact on America as is asserted by the lying hacks in DC, and that our economic crisis is based on a hoax. Granted, there are mitigation measures that may, or may not, be constraining transmission. But the efficacy is still in the stage of conjecture, advocated mainly by the left, and is sometimes directly contrary to logic and common sense.
My point here is that Covid-19 did nothing to harm our economy. It was the government-imposed and enforced lockdowns that hurt our economy. And why? The foregoing calculations prove that the virus is not factually detrimental to our nation on any sort of scale in excess of what our current flu strains are … AND THAT IS WITH FLU VACCINES IN USE. That is, even though the common influenza strains are vaccinated against, more people still die of the flu than die of Covid-19 (for which there currently exists no vaccine). Our economy was entirely sunk in the second quarter of 2020, and it was the fault of politicians due to quacky doctors, dishonest modelers, and others who wanted to harm America. It was AGENDA DRIVEN. This is fact, and it can be mathematically proven. In fact, history (what remains of it) is going to look back at this as a sort of economic holocaust. But, the positive thing to pull from this is how ignorant and outright stupid leftists are about economics. A free market, capitalist economy the size of ours, and with the wealth of ours, WILL spring back, and it will do so pretty quickly with the correct stimulation. I am not talking about stimulus checks either. I am talking about lowering taxes and getting the government out of the way of business.
How is all this related to the coin shortage? Good question. If the shortage is based upon the economic downturn, then the government bears responsibility. Covid-19 has nothing to do with it. Therefore, there is human accountability. Hence, right off the bat we know the government is lying to us. Second, history has never really suggested that acute economic downturns result in a shortage of coins. Hell, you would think the exact opposite would be true, as people scrimp and save their pocket change in order to pay light bills and other living expenses. So, what is actually going on here?
I have some thoughts. I will be candid and tell you that this is something of a “conspiracy theory”. But it is a theory that comports extremely well with the anti-American coup being waged by leftists, such as the BLM, Antifa, the neo-Marxists, anarchists, and the general European Marxist trash and leftist scum. Here it is.
Everyone knows (except leftists because they are dumber than hell when it comes to economics and finance) that cash is hard to account for. Coins are cash. Coins are hard to account for. Here’s what I mean. Think about an FBI investigation into organized crime. They always have forensic accountants on any case. They trace the origin and flow and expense of funds. In fact, much effort is made in organized criminal pursuits to hide, or “launder”, funds in order to avoid detection. It is the uncover of ill-gotten funds that most of the time bring down criminal organization based upon uncovered quid pro quos, tax reporting violations, and otherwise matching up timelines between events and bank account activity. However, the FBI’s job becomes difficult with cash transactions because there is no papecyber trail to follow.
Clearly, law enforcement likes our transition to electronic financial transactions. We get our incomes deposited into our bank accounts. We pay our bills by drafts made on our bank accounts and with bank cards (debit cards) and credit cards. There is a record for everything. But with cash transactions there are little to no records. But is there anyone else in addition to law enforcement who is interested in this system?
I will now cut to the chase. I propose that there are certain factions out there who want to be able to trace every financial transaction we engage in, from origin of funds (evidenced by W-2, 1099, and bank deposits) to the expense of our funds (electronic records). The best way to control and conquer people is to make them economically dependent on the state. Nothing gets you there quicker than eliminating cash and cash transactions.
Covid-19 is quite possibly a run-though for future plans. People are going to school online and working from home. They are having their food delivered to them so they can munch on it while watching a baseball game with cardboard cut-out people in the stands. EVERYTHING is being ran through the electronic system where metadata can be gathered at any time on anyone. Eliminating cash from our system of currency is the logical next step. We have sleep-walked ourselves right into a surveillance machine.
With an individual existence that is electronically recorded, and that can be accessed and organized into dossier form on a moment’s notice, third parties will know if you own guns and what kind you own; your political affiliation, your sexual appetites, your financial condition, etc… In fact, it will take virtually zero effort for them to have your financial accounts completely drained if they decide that should be done. In short, they can destroy you, simply make you disappear or become a slave to their whims. All of this is because everything you hold dear is recorded and catalogued in the form of electronic date. You cannot even tell your kid you love him over Facebook without it being recorded and subject to a electronic manipulation, sorting, and being included in an electronic composite dossier of yourself.
Cash still allows flexibility and privacy. There are those who do not want this. I will refer to them as the “deep state” for simplicity. They are there. We know they are there and that they mean to harm us and the republic. If there is a revolution afoot (and it sure looks like there is one), wouldn’t the elimination of cash be more important than eliminating gun ownership? Will a patriot be willing to stand in support of the American flag if he knows the corrupt government will bankrupt him immediately and leave him without any means to protect his family? At the very least, it will cause a lot of men pause, which will be just long enough to make examples out of some patriots and to seize guns from the rest of them, or worse.
I submit that eliminating cash is much, much more important to seizing America and neutralizing Americans than seizing guns. Coinage is first. By eliminating coins, paper bills will follow, as nobody sales items at even numbered cost including taxes. The elimination of coins alone may be enough alone to relegate paper bills to a thing of the past. They will ask, “So why not just go ahead and transition to all electronic?” It seems harmless enough, right?. But it will not be harmless. It will be the farthest thing from harmless. Up until now we have had some level of assurance that the government is on our side and will protect us. But those days are gone. We have far-leftists and hardcore Marxists now in our national and state/local governments. We can no longer trust our government. We certainly cannot trust them on monetary matters. Now, more than at any time in the past, we must get ride of the Federal Reserve System. But, that will not happen any time soon. Therefore, the best advice I can bestow on you at this point is to stock up on guns and stock up on ammo. As John Wick said when Winston asked him what he needs, “Guns. Lots of guns.” I wish I could offer a better solution. But the only thing is to fight these bastards now, before they get any more time to cement their toxic ideology and fascist tendencies in what was once the “land of the free”.

2020.09.11 18:52 trifletruffles Jasper Greenwood-his badly decomposed body was found next to his car in Vicksburg, Mississippi in June 1964-Closed Case under the Civil Rights Division Emmett Till Act

On June 29, 1964, the badly decomposed body of Jasper Greenwood was found next to his car on a “lover’s lane,” about 100 yards off of Main Street in Vicksburg, Mississippi. One of the Jasper's family members reported him missing to the Vicksburg Police Department on June 21, 1964. According to a June 30, 1964 article in the Vicksburg Evening Post, no weapon was found near the Jasper's body. Additionally, a purse containing about $61 was found in Jasper's car which likely ruled out the possibility that he was killed during a robbery. As a result of the body’s condition, a coroner’s inquest could not determine the cause of death.
1964 FBI Investigation:
The FBI first opened the matter on June 30, 1964 after receiving a complaint from [name redacted] of the Jackson, Mississippi, Council of Federal Organizations. [Name redacted] told the FBI that Jasper had been found dead in a field on Main Street by two children. According to [name redacted], Jasper had last been seen alive leaving Jasper Lounge (a business he managed) with two white men on June 21, 1964. [Name redacted] noted that Jasper was not active in the civil rights movement or voter registration drives. However, Jasper's [relationship redacted in the closing memorandum] at one time babysat for Medgar Evers’ family. Additionally, on June 30, 1964, [Name Redacted 2] of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) also contacted the FBI and relayed similar information.
On June 30, 1964, Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) Chief Murray Sills informed the FBI that Jasper had been reported missing to the VPD on June 21. Jasper’s body was found at about 3:10 p.m. on June 29 by two boys. Jasper was found lying next to his car; the car was parked on a “lover’s lane” about 100 yards east of Main Street in Vicksburg. Jasper's body was too severely decomposed to allow for an autopsy, and the coroner could not ascertain Jasper's cause of death.
According to Chief Sills, VPD investigators determined that Jasper had last been seen with a married African-American woman sometime between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. on June 21, 1964. Chief Sills did not identify the woman to the FBI, but presumably knew who she was since he stated that [name redacted] "had been developed as a logical suspect" because [name redacted] had reportedly previously threatened Jasper for dating the woman. Chief Sills stated that both the woman and [name redacted] had disappeared.
On July 4, 1964, Chief Sills contacted the FBI and stated that the VPD had arrested Flossie Lee Minor on July 3. According to Chief Sills, Flossie admitted that she had gone with Jasper to “lover’s lane for a tryst." At some point, Jasper fell to the ground unconscious. When Flossie was not able to resuscitate Jasper, she fled the area. Flossie said that Jasper had apparently died of a heart attack and denied that there had been any foul play.
The FBI was contacted on July 31, 1964, by Dick Corigan, a reporter for the Washington Post, who received information from [name redacted] saying that Jasper's body reportedly had what appeared to be a bullet wound in his chest. The FBI interviewed [name redacted] who was in Vicksburg at the end of June 1964, and heard about Jasper's death. [Name redacted] then visited the Jasper's [relationship redacted]. Jasper's [relationship redacted] told [name redacted] that Jasper had been missing for about a week and had reportedly died of a heart attack. [Relationship redacted] mentioned she had not been allowed to see Jasper's body because it was too decomposed. Jasper's family had not requested an autopsy and "was undecided as to its necessity." When questioned about Jasper's civil rights activities, [relationship redacted] provided no information other than to say that he was a registered voter.
[Name redacted] recalled that a [redacted employee of the funeral home] that prepared Jasper's body for burial arrived at the [relationship redacted]'s residence while [redacted name] was present. According to the redacted employee, while examining Jasper's body, he noticed a hole at the base of Jasper's throat that could have been a stab or bullet wound. When asked whether he had reported the information to the police, the redacted employee said that he thought investigators already had the information and wanted to “keep it quiet;” it was [redacted name]'s understanding that the police report indicated that Jasper died of a heart attack.
[Name redacted] told the FBI that he investigated the matter further and determined that Jasper was not a member of COFO or any related organization and had not been involved in any voter registration drives or other civil rights work. Similarly, Charles Evers, the NAACP’s Mississippi Field Director at the time, informed the FBI that Jasper was not active in voter registration drives or the civil rights movement.
The FBI interviewed the redacted employee of the funeral home [same individual discussed in preceding paragraph]. According to the employee, a coroner’s inquest had been conducted at the site where Jasper's body was found. The employee did not conduct an inquest or examine Jasper's body. He stated that Jasper's body was in terrible condition and had significantly decomposed. The employee did see a hole at the base of Jasper's throat but the hole was full of small worms and he did not think it had been caused by stabbing or a bullet. The employee recalled being questioned by a man he thought was a member of the Greenwood family [Name redacted/same individual discussed in preceding paragraph] when he went to speak with the family about funeral arrangements. According to the employee, when [Name redacted] asked him whether he thought the hole in Jasper's throat had been caused by a bullet, he told [Name redacted] that he had no reason to believe that the hole had been caused by anything other than “nature and the worms.”
2009 Review:
The FBI contacted various acquaintances and members of Jasper's family [all names redacted]. One family member stated Jasper's mother (now deceased) went to look for Jasper when he went missing. She and other family members searched as far as Jackson Road, which Jasper frequently used, but they did not find him. An acquaintance [name redacted] was interviewed by a Mississippi Attorney General’s Office (MAGO) investigator in March 2009. The acquaintance stated that, within hours of Jasper’s body being found, she was interviewed by a Warren County Sheriff’s Department (WCSD) deputy, at her place of employment, the Rockett Cab Company. The deputy told the acquaintance that she had been seen with Jasper that evening. She told the MAGO investigator that she worked the midnight shift at the cab company the entire weekend that Jasper went missing and she did not know why it was rumored that she had been with him at any time.
The FBI conducted an online search for Flossie Minor, who reportedly witnessed Jasper's death, and located a record for a Flossie E. Minor who died on April 2, 2005 in Liberty, Missouri. The FBI obtained a copy of Jasper's death record from James E. Jefferson, Jr., Funeral Director for the W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. The record stated that Jasper died on June 21, 1964. Jasper's cause of death was listed as “undetermined” with “unknown” contributory causes. The FBI contacted the MAGO and the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, but neither of those agencies had any records relevant to the Jasper's death.
At the conclusion of the FBI's investigation, the Department of Justice concluded that this matter does not constitute a prosecutable violation of the federal criminal civil rights statutes as "neither the FBI’s 1964 nor its 2009 investigation uncovered sufficient evidence to contradict the reported results of the contemporaneous VPD investigation, i.e., that the victim died of a heart attack while in the company of an African-American woman." Accordingly, there is insufficient evidence that "a racially-motivated homicide occurred and, therefore, this matter lacks prosecutive merit and should be closed."
I came across the Department of Justice’s cold case initiative while reading an article discussing journalists’ efforts to install a billboard on an Arkansas highway aimed at solving the 1954 lynching of Isadore Banks. The Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice launched a website (linked above) to make information about the department’s investigation of cold cases from the Civil Rights Era more accessible to the public. Over the years, the Department “has assisted in prosecuting Edgar Ray Killen in 2005, making him the eighth defendant convicted for the 1964 murders of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Mississippi (the "Mississippi Burning" case); secured life sentences in 2003 against the perpetrators of the 1963 Sixteenth Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama; and secured a federal conviction and life sentence of James Ford Seale for the kidnapping and murder of two teenagers in Franklin County, Mississippi in 1964.” Congress recognized the importance of these federal efforts when it enacted the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act in 2008.
Unfortunately, in many cases “legal and evidentiary barriers prevent the Department from moving forward with prosecution." In each case that is not prosecutable, the Department of Justice wrote a closing memo explaining the investigative steps taken and the basis for their conclusion. To date, the Department of Justice has uploaded 115 closing memos. I hope to be able to post on all of the closed cases as I share in the belief with the Department of Justice that “these stories should be told [as] there is value in a public reckoning with the history of racial violence and the complicity of government officials.”

155-fold increase in electric vehicles / No VAT import tax

Nature Ministry wants you to drive electric, so they canceled import taxes on electric passenger cars last year.
Now they have a bill to waive taxes on 5-tons electric trucks. It's aimed at eliminating cargo trucks that leave a taste of gasoline in your mouth when they drive nearby. You know you felt it...
Imports of electric cars have gone from 12 in 2018, to 668 in 2H19, to 1863 in 1H20.

Armenia prepares to sign a deportee readmission agreement with EU

Parliament gave preliminary approval to sign an immigration agreement with Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Bulgaria, and Luxemburg. It states that the Armenian govt will aid the process of accepting back illegal immigrants from those countries.
There is already such agreement with France, Estonia, and Czechia.
2020 became the first year when the govt agreed to aid the returning deportees with a $125/mo housing subsidy for 6 months.

A warning before a ticket?

BHK party drafted a bill to issue a warning before giving a ticket to residents who violate COVID safety rules.

Armenia prepares to criminalize incitement of genocide

Parliament gave preliminary approval to proceed with a law that would imprison people between 8 years to life imprisonment if they publicly encourage a genocide.
The severity of punishment depends on whether the perpetrators are a group of officials who used mass-media, or an individual who used lesser tools.

Defamation penalties could increase

Parliament gave preliminary approval to a QP bill that could increase the penalty for insult and defamation five-fold, making it $10k and $20k.
The author of the bill says the purpose is to reduce instances of people registering fake online accounts/outlets to spread slander and insults. It'll be discussed with other parties before a vote.
The union of journalists criticized the bill and said the excessively-high penalties could violate free speech by forcing to shut down media outlets.
The government also found the proposed penalties too harsh and suggested a $4k and $6k penalty instead.

Fake food production could become a crime

QP party drafted a bill to prohibit the production of "fake" food. There is already a law against dangerous fake alcohol, but the food is currently "unprotected".
Producers could face between a $415 fine to 5 years in prison (if someone dies).

10km tourist promenade across Lake Sevan shores / Who owns the lands?

On April we learned that the govt is working on a new 10km pedestrian boulevard across the shores of Lake Sevan, to attract tourists. Pashinyan created a group tasked with examining suitable lands and legal issues.
Hetq media outlet has also examined the high-profile owners of the lands near the area of the proposed promenade. Some of the buildings are illegal because they were built too close to the lake.
Nature Ministry sent noticed to thousands of property owners and urged them to remove their properties.

ex-Deputy Minister is arrested on corruption charges

The report says: // HHK Vahan Poghosyan served as Tuberculosis Center director and was earlier charged for a 2019 embezzlement, and released on $10k bail.
Later, more corruption was found during his 2015-2016 activities. A decision was made to arrest him.
Being the chief coordinator of the anti-tuberculosis and HIV fight in Armenia, including the manager of the aid received by the U.S., he colluded with other officials to embezzle $163,000.
He also registered fake employees and stole their salaries, and appropriated state property.
12 people are charged in a felony case. //

2018 Constitutional Court (CC) hijacking trial

Context: HHK hijacked CC in 2018. They convinced CC's chief judge to resign by giving him a new job. With the CC chief's position being vacant, HHK decided to appoint their fellow MP Hrayr Tovmasyan as a judge.
The problem was, the new Constitution was supposed to activate soon and HHK wouldn't have enough time to appoint and approve.
To make it work, two HHK officials allegedly falsified documents and dates to fit the deadlines. The two officials are Ara Babloyan and Arsen Babayan. They were charged with a felony in 2019.
Today was their trial. The court deliberated on the level of personal movement restrictions on defendants.
The prosecutors agreed to allow Ara Babloyan to travel abroad, citing his good behavior and his new job.
As for Arsen Babayan, prosecutors wanted the restrictions to remain in place, but the court struck them down.
P.S. Arsen Babayan is the HHK official who recently joined ex-NSS chief Arthur Vanetsyan to form the Hayreniq Party.

Corruption bust / Yerevan's Green department

The report says: officials working at the capital's Green department were busted with negligently allowing, and in some instances purposely aiding, a $23k embezzlement involving a company that was hired to work for the city a few months ago.

Residents of Gyumri raised the alarm after discovering a construction in a historic-cultural building. Someone decided to build a tasteless 2nd floor on top of the historic building.
The municipality says the construction was unauthorized and suspended it. They summoned the builder for questioning.
The owner of the building claims it's not illegal because the law allows "light construction", and that they need to build the extra floor "to have a roof".

March 1st, 2008 victims & their lawyers won't attend court trials

March 1st victims: Now that the preliminary stage is over and the court has entered a lengthy beurocratic process, during which the judge chooses to only exercise powers against victims and not Robik and Co-defendants, we see no purpose to attend these sessions that are accompanied with human rights violations.
(Prosecutors will continue their case against Robik & Co)

March 1st memorial statue is being crafted

At the request of Yerevan municipality, sculptor Albert Vardanyan from Gyumri has been working on a bronze monument to commemorate the victims of the 2008 murders.

2020.09.01 14:16 dsut22 A background to Wood Green MOB

A background to Wood Green MOB

Wood Green MOB

A background into Wood Green MOB (Money Over Bitches), formerly known as Wood Green PBP (Paper Before Pussy,) Hoodfellas and Mobstarz, Wood Green, North London.

Wood Green (With Sky City Housing Estate behind The Mall Wood Green)

Many drill fans will certainly have heard of the Wood Green MOB group in drill as it's very active in the road scene, the fact that North London is pretty much the hottest place for gang rivalry, and its intense rivalry with certain other North and East End of London areas like South Tottenham, Hornsey and Hoxton, I've seen many other pages with talk about Wood Green MOB like the music they produce and more so about who they beef and the points scored between rival gangs, but for people new to UK Drill (or who do not know some of the history of the Wood Green MOB gang) I trust you will find the background to Wood Green MOB, and its actual precursors intriguing. It took me a while to gather information on a group widely known as other neighbouring London groups. I may do more of these, I could do 6th based in Beckton and maybe Manor Park based in the Manor Park and Cage area.

Based around the London Borough of Haringey, located on numerous estates throughout Wood Green including Sky City, the Sandlings, Noel Park, Commerce Road and Acacia Road all within the N22 postal district. Some of their territory has expanded to the New Southgate area of N11. 22 is another name for the gang and they have mainly been seen in North London in Wood Green on the Commerce Road. They are a very active gang and have been around for over 40 years dating back to the 1970s where drug dealers from Wood Green would offer people drugs to make money, they are very very closely allies with fellow North London area Edmonton, they are also one of North London’s most well known and active gangs, stemming even well before the days of the Dem Africans and Shankstarz. Wood Green MOB also go by #WG , #N22 , #MOB , #GreenGang , #DBlock/DBMG. Wood Green is known as Mob City by many gang members and by locals.

Mob City

The Wood Green area borders Bowes Park (N13 and N22), Hornsey (N8), Palmers Green (N13) and Duckett's Green (N15). Many of their rivals are based in and around these areas, in particular South Tottenham and Hornsey.
Born from the ashes of old-school North London gang called Wood Green Firm or more commonly known as Firm, Wood Green then saw rap groups form more commonly though in the 2000s under the Wood Green MOB label and it quickly became a well known stomping ground for many of North London's well know and rising road rap talents, most notably Smokey (who was one of the originals in the road rap scene) and Brucey. Working under the Wood Green MOB and Wood Green PBP banner through the early 2010s, the gang quickly found a creative style of music on tunes like "F*** a Family," gradually making their presence known into London's road rap scene. As the sounds of London's road rap shifted, so did the duo's: their 2010s song, You Can Get Touched, saw the group delve into U.K.-style road rap/trap, while in the latter 2010's songs like , Looking For Who, helped to establish the Wood Green's presence on the burgeoning drill scene. It was in the 2010's decade that gangs truly made their mark: working with producers from MKThePlug to M1OnTheBeat, Wood Green gradually built a following with their disses to rivals and creative synergy. Marking their songs with the tag #Wood Green, the gang founded their drill collective just as Wood Green MOB, an homage to the ''Mob City'' area, where gang members will have grown up and represent.
A number of past and current generations of gangs have existed in Haringey and other London boroughs that associate with the colour red and blue, some of which in the past had also self-identified themselves as Bloods and Crips. One of the first of these was the short lived Cripset from Dorset Road which claimed affiliation to the Rollin 80's Crips in Los Angeles. The gang was most active throughout the mid 2000's and were rivals to 031 Bloods, now know simply as 031 (O-Tray One) based in the Patmore and Hartington estates. This is seen as a massive influence on London from the famous American rival gangs Bloods and Crips.
Wood Green MOB themselves have never claimed Crips or Bloods like their rivals have and they have always affiliated with the colour green.
There are a number of other gangs in London which have been linked with the colour red. The Ida Bloodstarz from Ida Road and Tottenham have always used the colour red, whilst the former gang EvaStrap (now known as Reed Road) in the borough of Haringey in which they are located had asubset nicknamed 'Reed Road Cripz' and can still be seen using blue bandanas to this day, this is due to the ongoing American influence.
Some of PBP/MOB's rivalries have identified with colours themselves such as Original Farm Boys who used to be known as just Broadwater Farm/Tottenham Mandem, identify with the colour red and also Northumberland Park Killers/NPK who used to be a part of the Tottenham Mandem gang collective, identify with the colour purple .

Current beef and alliances

Wood Green Firm and the current Wood Green MOB gang have had some of the same rivalries between gangs but some of the rivalries were rid of and have now become extinct during the current generation of the Wood Green MOB gang. The current generation of the mass rivalry in Haringey has overtaken the old school rivalry that was between Wood Green and Archway Mandem and Busy Blocks.
Wood Green MOB allies: 3x3/N9 (N9), 6th/ACG(Anyone Can Go)/Hammerville (E6)), 37/OJB (SW11), Touch Paper Lane (N15 and N22), Arnos Grove (N11 and N14) and 4BP (NW4).
Wood Green MOB rivalries: 6th/ACG(Anyone Can Go)/Hammerville (E6), Graveyard Fam (N2, N3, and N12), Northumberland Park Killers/NPK (N17), Original Farm Boys (N17), Hornsey Grey Gang/8th (N8), Grahame Park (NW9), Albany Park/Skengfield (EN3) and Hoxton (N1).

Early to mid 1990's

During the early 1990’s a gang known as the Firm was active across the north of London, first being and restricted to Tottenham but extending to incorporate nearby parts of Haringey such as Edmonton and Wood Green. By 1996-97 the different districts began to identify with their local area with their younger generations and so the Edmonton Firm and Wood Green Firm were formulated and this type of local district affiliation still happens widespread today. The Wood Green Firm birthed around Gladstone Avenue in Noel Park and on the Sandlings estates, which are main bases of Wood Green MOB today. Many members were educated at St Dorothy’s, St Katherine’s and Broomfield Schools in north London, and later Southgate College. The Sandlings and Sky City estates were the main area of activity from the beginning and later Sandlings was nicknamed ''Shell Town'', largely because the shotgun was once a favoured weapon as was its shells ammunition.
Wood Green and North London as a whole always had much of a multi-generational phases of gangs, which would have had each generation taking on their own identity and name, in comparison to other London Boroughs such as the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Lambeth and Waltham Forest. Sky City Estate and the Sandlings, where the Wood Green MOB gang was formed, had long had music being produced during the time which they descended into gang violence in the 1990's and mid 2000s, previously being called the gang Hoodfellas and City of Gods. In reports of the late 1990s, Wood Green and many areas of North London as a whole was characterized as deprived in income, employment, health and crime.
Wood Green dominated over the nearby Hornsey area which is where Hornsey Mandem developed was created, the two were close in alliance until 2008. Wood Green remained close with other ‘Firm’ areas Edmonton until 2003-04 and Tottenham until 2005, however, these area relationships in north London were later broken down by second and third iteration members and now beef today.

The first generation Wood Green Firm began to call themselves ‘Junior Mafia’ or ‘Junior Mafia Woodz’ in the late 1990’s and going into the millennium. The second generations became known collectively as Wood Green MOB – Money Over Bitches. Within the MOB’s sprawling turf, covering large parts of the N22 post code (known as 22nd Side), sets developed that were geographically placed on various estates such as the Avenues (Noel Park), Acacia Road, Bracknell Close and Progress Way, Commerce Road, the Sandlings and Sky City estates.
Following the death of a young Tottenham boy in 1997, perpetrated by the Hackney Mandem, members of the Wood Green Firm were firmly backing the conflict that came to be generalised as ‘Hackney versus Tottenham’. At this point in time Wood Green and Tottenham were close allies, Edmonton were also their allies. Although the conflict mainly concerned those from Broadwater Farm and London Fields estates, Wood Green counted Hackney as a rival.
By 1998, a host of gang names begun to exist under the umbrella of Wood Green MOB over the last several years including Shell Town Soldiers, Junior Mafia Woodz, Mobstarz, Hoodfellas, North Bangers, PBP (Paper Before Pussy), City of Gods and Mobcity Young Gunners / GSR. The names loosely denote various age generations of the gang, Wood Green MOB or Mobstarz remains as the collective identity. Wood Green is also known amongst other things as Mobcity. A second, separate gang forms across Wood Green and Tottenham and known as SK or Shadow Kings. They are a predominantly African set and do not have a set turf due to their focus not being banging but trapping. They are associated with the MOB and although not affiliated with TMD, often worked for them.

A long-time defunct set called 1 Nation is formed after breaking away from the wider Shadow Kings

Shadow Kings starts a heavy rivalry with Tottenham. This would be the first ever Wood Green vs Tottenham rivalry. Numerous lives were lost during this rivalry.
By 2001-02, there had been multiple murders, along with countless shootings and drug offences, which saw many of the first generation members imprisoned for long sentences. At this point the second and third generations of Wood Green were known as ‘Junior Mafia’ and as ‘Wood Green MOB’. The equivalent generations of Edmonton went on to become known as the Shankstarz whilst over a dozen Tottenham estates began to adopt their own identity, for example NPK (from Northumberland Park).
Many of the teenagers involved in this generation were known to one another as friends, having attended the same schools and having played football together, and through family ties. Despite this, the areas began to challenge each others reputation and it wasn’t long before this escalated into violence.
In 2002, up to a dozen members of the Wood Green MOB – the Junior Mafia Woodz – were caught by police surveillance following a four-month robbery spree. The gang members, aged 12-19, were said by police to see themselves as untouchable, preying on innocent victims as a pack to steal cash and mobile phones often at knifepoint. Jermaine Campbell (later sentenced for the murder of Andre Linton in 2005), Craig Johnson and Ashley Gowdie, all then 16, were ordered to be detained for three years despite being young offenders because their crimes were deemed so serious.
Up to 1,300 hours of surveillance film showed scenes of robbery taking place. The gang were identifiable by their trademark clothing of t-shirts with Loony tunes characters. Robbery offences were said to have fallen by 33% in Wood Green shopping centre following the convictions. The youths were said to have been led on robbery offences by older members of the gang Shane Reid and Marcus Downie. 2003

The third generation become known as Wood Green MOB + WGM (Wood Green Mandem). Their turf expands to cover large parts of the N22 post code (known as 22nd Side).
In 2003, the Shankstarz were involved in the stabbing of two teenagers, one from Wood Green and one from Tottenham. This generation of Wood Green, and NPK from Tottenham, were now rivals with nearby Lower Edmonton (N9).

In 2004, Wood Green MOB were allies with a gang known as the Shadow Kings, a predominantly African gang whose members lived across Wood Green and Tottenham N17 areas. Shadow Kings, who were often present in Wood Green, began conflict with Tiverton from south Tottenham (who at the time had internal issues in Tottenham with Broadwater Farm). During the conflict Wood Green membership was torn between loyalties with Tottenham and the Shadow Kings. Those who sided with the Shadow Kings gained a new enemy in Tottenham. Wood Green-Tottenham beef begins.
The conflict with Edmonton was continued predominantly with NPK rather than Wood Green and resulted in numerous stabbings culminating with a series of convictions following a large outbreak of violent disorder on Hertford Road, Edmonton, in 2007. By this point in time Wood Green and Tottenham were no longer allies as a result of torn loyalties developing from disputes that occurred in 2005.

The fallout brought Tottenham back together, ending internal disputes that had not developed into anything too serious, and in 2005 the Wood Green MOB began serious conflict with Tottenham gangs, mainly Broadwater Farm, Ida Bloodstarz and Tiverton.
A growing number of shootings had been occurring between Tottenham and Wood Green in 2005. Furthermore, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old male were gunned down in Tottenham and Wood Green the preceding years in murder cases that both remain unsolved.
Among the incidents in the run-up to the murder of Tottenham male, Andre Linton - an innocent victim of this feud, an 18-year-old was seriously wounded during a knife attack near Broadwater Farm whilst a 17-year-old was also injured in a drive-by shooting, also on the Farm. In the latter incident, local Member of Parliament David Lammy was there to attend to the shot boy. He later criticised police who refused to allow the ambulance to reach the victim after they had sealed the area off whilst carrying out a risk assessment. The victim, Charles Osei-Bonsu, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
In April 2005, the press picked up on the growing rivalry between MOB and the Farm, calling it an armed turf-war. In the week that preceded the article there had been reports of a drive-by shooting and a gunfight on West Green Road where eight shell cases were discovered. This was followed by another gunfight on Clarendon Road and police were later called to attend North Middlesex Hospital where a young man with gunshot wounds to the leg had presented himself.
In May 2005, 22-year-old Andre Linton was killed by a single bullet after his car was surrounded by members of the Wood Green MOB on Buller Road, Wood Green. Jermaine 'Killa' Campbell, then 19, was later charged with the murder. Andre, who was a pupil at Greig City Academy and formerly of Northumberland Park School, was not a gang member. It is believed the trigger was something as arbitrary as a 'dirty look'. Police were called to six reports of firearms that evening, it followed three seperate shootings that had taken place on Turnpike Lane and Broadwater Farm.
In total, there had been twenty recorded incidents of violent disorder involving guns or knives in the eight weeks prior to the murder. In one attack, an innocent eight-year-old child was injured during a hit-and-run when a car being driven by a gang fleeing the scene mounted the pavement. The tit-for-tat rivalry continued between Broadwater Farm, joined sometimes by other Tottenham gangs including Tiverton and Ida, against the Wood Green MOB. In October 2006, Wood Green MOB's Jerome Vassell, 19, was left fighting for his life after being shot in the head outside a talent show at the West Indian Cultural Centre in Clarendon Road, Hornsey. Vassell , also known as JV or Warlord, was allowed to leave Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, however, he suffered severe brain damage that caused partial paralysis and communication problems. Green City alliance is formed between Wood Green, Edmonton Green, and Bounds Green. All three gangs begin wearing green bandanas.

Those gangsters who were involved in Shadow Kings had now joined Wood Green MOB after many Shadow King members face imprisonment and longer sentences.
At the time of Jerome Vassell’s death, Wood Green had teamed up with once brief enemies from Edmonton who were now known as the Shankstarz. The link became popularised as the Green City alliance (Wood Green to Edmonton Green), with both gangs increasingly associating with the colour green and wearing of green clothing including bandanas. Wood Green were also linked with the Meridian Mandem (Meridian Crew and Bloodline music crew) and Palmers Green, referred to locally as P-Town. This generation of Wood Green also became allies to the London Fields Boys, another gang who the Wood Green olders once shared an extreme hatred of alongside their older Tottenham allies.
In 2008, long-term allies Hornsey and Wood Green began to fall into conflict with one another. A series of incidents contributed to the build up of the rivalry including a stabbing on Commerce Road estate in Wood Green, the victim was associated with Wood Green younger set ‘City of Gods’. A number of tit-for-tat incidents followed with robberies of Wood Green youngers by Hornsey, and attacks carried out by Warlordz and LMD sets.
Wood Green responded with similar violations against the Hornsey Grey Gang and it escalated throughout the rest of 2008. In one incident in September 2008, up to forty rivals fought a pitched battle on Lymington Avenue, Wood Green, during which a 17-year-old boy suffered serious stab wounds and was described as lucky to be alive. He was stabbed in the legs, back and face as the youths fought with sticks and bottles. Some of those involved were caught on CCTV in nearby Gladstone Road although their faces were concealed with bandanas. By the end of 2008 Hornsey Grey Gang had developed an alliance with Wood Green’s rivals from Tottenham including NPK.
Since 2008 a new wave of younger members have made headlines for minor offences typically associated with the early stages of gang evolvement. The Sky City and Sandlings estates continue to be a preferred hangout by aspiring gang members. The Sky City estate, which sits above Wood Green shopping mall, often makes local headlines for gang activity. In an unusual outcome in 2010, Haringey Council blocked plans for a dispersal zone on the estate, largely because the confines of the estate are not a public place (dispersal prevent loitering in public places).
With the relocation of a number of older members to Palmers Green the new younger sets have been left to run amok continuing age old rivalries with nearby gangs. Stabbings incidents have occurred frequently with young members in their early to mid teens. A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in Wood Green High Road on the day of the Royal Wedding, April 29th, after being chased through the town centre. He was stabbed repeatedly by a group of youths in broad daylight in what police believe was an attempted murder. The following month a teenager was knocked off his bike by a car on Darwin Road, Noel Park, before the occupants got out and stabbed him.

In 2010 Michael Gaynor received an ASBO banning him from Wood Green for five years. The order also prevents him from associating with thirteen other members of the gang; from being in a group of three or more in a public place; from uploading pictures or footage that features green bandanas; and from featuring in any music video of audio material that is uploaded onto the internet and incites violence towards rival gangs.
Despite having had gang affiliations in Wood Green since his early youth G Money (Michael Gaynor) is one of the biggest names on the underground rap/road music scene. He was interviewed for MTV’s the Wrap Up in 2010 where he spoke about his early influences and the release of early Wood Green mixtape ‘Mobstarz Most Hated Vol 1’.
Michael Gaynor was one of two leading figures in the Wood Green MOB to receive recent ASBOs. Fellow member Rowan Lopez was banned from entering Wood Green from 2011 until 2013. It was an extension of an earlier ASBO he was granted in 2009. Like Gaynor, he has been prohibited from posting videos online showing him inciting people to violence and promoting gang activity and identity. Both males had long histories of offending going back to their teens including robbery and weapon offences. Another leading figure of the current olders was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and sentenced to two years in 2011.
Another member of the Wood Green MOB, Terrence Abalola also known as Ghost, 18, was sentenced to four years in 2010. It came after a teenager arranged for his 15-year-old cousin to be beaten, robbed and sprayed with tear gas during a house robbery. Abalola led two other teens, all in masks, into the cousins home in Stoke Newington where they attacked the boy. They screamed at him ‘where’s your stuff’, at which point he recognised one of the voice having shared a McDonald’s meal with one of them in Wood Green just two days earlier. The three robbers fled with the boy’s TV, Xbox games console, laptop computer, mobile phone, £300 cash and his mothers iPod Touch.
The younger generational iterations of the gang begin to go by the various sets: Mobstarz City of Gods Hoodfellas North Bangers
Paper Before Pussy
They all collectively rep Wood Green and share in the same allies and and enemies.

2011 - present

After this the gangs in London started to drop the usage of Crips and Bloods into the gang names and began to use gang names that are more modern and still in usage as of the present day and that includes all Haringey based gang.
The current day allies of Wood Green continue to be the Shankstarz from Edmonton, who today are now known as 3x3, P-Town (Palmers Green), Arnos Grove, London Fields Boys formerly who have now cut ties with Wood Green MOB and have no ties to the current faction known as Zero Tolerance and the remaining former members of the now defunct Shadow Kings. There have been some links with Dem Africans (shared link with Shadow Kings) and Young Dem Africans, however the picture is less clear because the latter have historic roots in Tottenham, and Dem Africans have since become #900. Despite this, a senior member of the Wood Green MOB accompanied a handful of Young Dem African members to West Green Road, Tottenham, in September 2009 where they were fired at by a prominent member of the Ida Bloodstarz with a sub machine gun. All fled from the gunfire and escaped without serious injury. Another link, although less relevant owing to distance, is with MPR (Make Paper Regardless) who are from west London (Shepherd's Bush and South Acton). The association with MPR was built by members who were serving custodial sentences in a London prison.
Rappers/Drillers in the drill era from Wood Green MOB like Lampz and Jigga J took a foothold in the drill and gang life scene. Lampz aka Kelvin Odunuyi was a very well known gang member and was deeply hated by his enemies because pressurised Tottenham and Hoxton heavily. In 2018, at the Hollywood Wood Green cinema, a motorcycle that came down from Lordship Lane (the road that leads from Wood Green into the N17 postal district) drove towards the entrance of the cinema and one of the two on the motorcycle fired shots through the window and circled back to deliver a final fatal shot to the head of Odunuyi. Many saw it as a revenge attack for Odunuyi's alleged involvement in the death of Kobi Nelson, a former NPK member who reformed as an anti-crime campaigner, Jigga J was involved and sentenced to life for the death of Nelson.

2020.08.29 18:29 corporal_giraffe Convoluted motivations towards dating

31M virgin.
I will try to chronologically list down various events that has affected me over the years.
2004-'07: My early days of interacting with girls were quite non existent. I had always been afraid of rejection, and did not quite know what and how to talk to girls. These were my high school days. Hormone monster in full rage.
2008-'12: Moved to college, I started opening a bit to girls. But that was not before the final year of my grad. Now I could talk to girls. I made friends with girls with whom I wanted to have a romantic relationship with. Afterall this is what media had taught us. Be friends, and then finally the girl will fall for you. I realized it much later that was all B.S. Felt like I was owed sex.
2013-'14: Moved to dating sites, did not have much success there either. Learnt to go out and hang out with strangers. Hanging out doesn't help either.
2014-'16: I started pursuing post graduation. Became the gay best friend of many girls. There were few of them whom I wanted to have a romantic relationship with. But the realization happened much later that the approach was wrong. All the female friends that I made there were getting committed, and I hoped someday the dice will roll in my favor. As expected nothing happened. Felt like a rejected piece of crap.
2016: Meanwhile occassional dates continued.
2016-'17: Hopes were up, when I started my first corporate job. Afterall new environment meant new girls to pursue. This girl from work was really into me. I never really escalated and dumped all my insecurities on her. She left me. I made friends with another girl from work. We went for a quick vacation. Did not escalate and again started dumping my insecurities on her. But she did not leave and is still friends with me. I have accepted that and I cherish her friendship. Felt disappointment from the rejection.
2016-'17:Met women from online apps occassionaly but never really converted into second dates or anything sexual. Still had not figured out that ESCALATION IS NECESSARY. Disappointed.
2017: Met with a major accident. Recovery from accident took a long time. Workouts became love and transformation happened. Felt ecstatic.
2019: Changed my job and met a girl who again was really into me. I did not fancy her but still liked the attention that I got. Got my first kiss from her. Felt good.
2019:One of my post grad friends was really becoming close to me. She cried and laid out all problems with her bf in front of me. I was truly her gay best friend. I felt a connection with her and thought she is the ONE. She broke up with her bf. I went and proposed her. She rejected me. I do not talk to that girl anymore. Felt lost and full of rage.
2019:I met this amazing woman on a flight. We exchanged numbers and went out on a DATE. Had learnt about the B.S about making friends. Hence the frame was set for a date and not a casual hang out. We went out on multiple dates. Also had learnt a thing or two about escalation by then and thus getting my second kiss. We made out a couple of times but she trumped me with her shit tests and thus drifted away. My insecurities, handling shit tests were quite bad at this point. Felt highly disappointed from the rejection.
2019: Met a girl whom I connected over online dating apps around 5 years back. When I met her, I did not fancy her. Ended up hanging out with her multiple times as a friend. Still I wanted to test out escalation and this earned my third kiss. Felt nothing.
2020: Now I am aware of many things than what I had started with.
2020: Arranged a date with a woman whom I had met online last year. This was our third date. She invited me over to her place for the date. I escalated and we ended up naked. But there was no arousal in me. We didn't have sex and I left her place. Felt indifferent.
I have learnt so many things regarding dating than when I had started. My motivations are also getting muddy with my feelings. There are two paths that I have charted for my dating objectives. First path, simply leads to getting laid. I have started having mixed feelings regarding this path as there was no arousal of any sort in any of the physical intimacy I had experienced. Second path leads to knowing the women more, respond in a more appropriate manner to feminine charm. Self improvement seems to be the only handy tool to carry on this path.
I now set dates and not hang outs. I escalate. I don't take shit. Unnecessary texting and calling are now avoided. I don't put women on pedestal. And now I evaluate women and reject them.

2020.08.25 17:06 sauce_murica Green and Gold Part 4 A closer look at United's Finances - Where Has the Money Been Spent?

Manchester United remain a global behemoth. With annual revenues in excess of £627m, [1] United is one of the most valuable clubs on the face of the planet. [1]
As explained in prior G&G installments, in purchasing United, the Glazer family loaded United with heavy debts. [1] The evolution of that debt over time has caused some to question how United are spending their money. For example, by June 2010, those debts had escalated to over £784m. [1] The infamous payment-in-kind loans were quietly repaid in 2010. At that same time, the cash earned from Ronaldo's sale (and the Aon shirt deal) was reportedly used to repay a significant portion of the bonds issued in February 2010. [1] In August 2012, half of the club's IPO proceeds were used for debt reduction, with the other half heading to Glazers. [1]
In total, this led to a bond debt reduction from 509m in June 2010, to 360m as of September 2012 --- resulting in some reputable sources to question whether it was "very possible that debt is virtually eliminated in the next few years." [1]
That has not come to pass. This entry into our Green & Gold Series takes aim at the following question: United remains one of the biggest and most profitable clubs in world football, with some of the largest revenues around. Where has the money gone?
We can do things others can only dream of Are United a Growing Giant or a Shrinking Violet?
In 2018, Ed Woodward famously stated to investors that "[p]laying performance doesn't really have a meaningful impact on what we can do on the commercial side of the business." [1]
There is some truth to this sentiment. From 2009 - 2019, the club's finances have grown significantly. [1] [2] In 2009, the club's commercial revenue was approximately 66 million. By 2019, that figure had more than quadrupled to 275 million. [1] [2] The club likewise benefited from the Premier League's own boon in popularity. From 2009 to 2019, TV revenues grew from 98 million to 241 million. [1] In total, from 2009 - 2019, matchday revenue decreased from 41% of the revenue base, to 19%. One of the results of this can be seen during COVID. While other clubs scrambled to secure finances, furloughing staff and cutting wages, United has to date been able to survive without such significant cuts. [1]
However, if a deeper look is taken into these figures, combined with the relative growth of similarly-situated clubs, cracks begin to appear in Woodward's "results don't matter" assertion. For example, as illustrated here, the club's on-again off-again relationship with the Champion's League has seen a drastic reduction in gate and TV revenue from the infamous Tuesday/Wednesday night matches:
Looking at it differently, as of 2014, by some conservative estimates the cost of missing out on CL football was approximately the cost of one Marouane Fellaini. [1] [2] By 2019, the figure was estimated by the club at around £65million (which figure excludes any potential reduction in the Adidas sponsorship deal). [1] Simply put, the cost of missing out on the sport's elite competition has grown alongside the expansion of the sport itself.
Comparing United's Growth Relative to That of Our Rivals
As recently as 2016, United's revenue growth continued to outpace rivals. [1] [2] [3] However, as years have gone by, that gap has shrunk. From 2017-2018, Liverpool's revenue growth increased nearly 100m, up to £455m from £364m --- taking them from 5th highest to 3rd highest in the league. [1] City's revenues likewise increased from £473m to £500m (2nd highest in the league). [1]
Thus, while United's revenue increased from £515m in 2016 to £590m in 2018, City's increased from £392m to £500m, and Liverpool's increased from £302m to £455m *within the span of two years. [1] [2] This change is highlighted in the following chart:
Club 2016 Revenue 2018 Revenue Growth % Difference
Manchester United £515m £590m £75m 15%
Manchester City £392m £500m £108m 28%
Liverpool £302m £455m £153m 51%
As for commercial revenue alone (an area United is often touted as being the best), the following chart highlights the relative growth of commercial revenue by comparing United to its biggest European counterparts: https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2020/05/25080041/revenue-compares.png
As can be seen, over time United's closest rivals appear to be closing the gap on United's claim as one of, if not the, biggest clubs in world football. With that in mind - let's take a closer look at how United has expanded its global reach since the Glazer takeover in 2005.
A change in the club's branding/commercialization approach
Glazer acquired Manchester United in 2005. At the time of the takeover, "United's income of 171.5 million pounds ($323.8m) for the 2003-04 season kept them top of the list [of richest clubs] for the eighth year in a row." [1] Simply put: Glazer inherited a behemoth at the top of the footballing world.
Upon buying the club, the Glazer contingent reportedly met with staff, and according to a former executive indicated:
“They said, ‘Look, we’ve bought this club because we saw an opportunity.' They never came with, ‘We are fans of the club forever and always will be’. They didn’t claim to be anything other than businessmen and they are very good at what they do.” [1]
The change in tactic upon Glazer arrival allegedly prompted United Chairman Sir Roy Gardner and non-executive directors Ian Much and Jim O'Neill to offer their resignations. [1]
Concerns have been raised since regarding the manner by which the Glazer family extended MUFC's reach / image / branding. Edward Freedman served as managing director of the club's merchandising from 1992-97. [1] During his time at United, he took the club's merchandising operation "from a turnover of £1.2 million in 1992 to £28 million when he left five years later." [1] His work with Tottenham, and then United, was significant enough to merit BBC including him in their documentary titled "The Men That Changed Football." [1]
Asked to speak regarding the Glazers' work with United's continued expansion, Freedman responded:
“They haven’t got a clue what a brand is. It’s a very clever money-making move for them to get those deals. However, I’m sorry to say that, as far as enhancing Manchester United, it doesn’t work.” [1]
Freedman's ire related to the manner in which the club worked to increase the reach of its branding efforts. Freedman's aimed to maintain United's status as a "premium brand" and expand the club's reach by working with select, "high profile" branding partners (a la a Rolex or Porsche). Instead, Freedman's ire was drawn by the club choosing, after he left, to sign onto multiple, "lower-quality" partners. The result of this change in branding strategy can be seen through the years. For example:
Mr. Potato
Tomato Juice
X Men - Apocalypse
Independence Day - Resurgence
Chevrolet's Dab University
Others in the footballing world have taken issue with how the increased commercial efforts impacted the players:
One high-profile agent privately complained that the club was “obsessed with commercialism” and “one big money-making machine”. After arriving back in the early hours following a match at West Ham, some stars were required to drive mini kids’ Chevrolets in a sponsored stunt the next day instead of resting. [1]
As for Freedman's thoughts on United's approach to branding expansion, he stated “I really can’t deal with it. We were offered all that long ago and never would accept any of it. Not for all the money in the world. Then, of course, the people who understood the brand left and people came in who saw only the recompense of taking money. But taking money for things that aren’t compatible with your brand will eventually ruin your brand. That’s what I can see them doing. The whole charisma, the whole glory of Manchester United, seems to have gone.” [1]
Freedman was not alone in this concern. In April 2007, Lee Daley (a reported lifelong United supporter), left Saatchi & Saatchi UK to become United's group commercial director. [1] He resigned four months later, with one source claiming he quickly became disillusioned at becoming "a glorified sponsorship sales manager." [1]
And although United's sponsorship efforts have resulted in some successes, including what was, at the time, one of the most profitable kit sponsorship of all time, [1] those successes have not always been well-received:
On the commercial side, the shirt sponsorship struck with Chevrolet, worth £450 million over seven seasons, was a major success. But the deal will not be renewed past 2021 and the person responsible for the deal at General Motors, Joel Ewanick, was dismissed soon after its announcement in 2012, with a spokesman saying he had “failed to meet the expectations the company has of an employee”. [1] [2]
Although some have lauded the Glazers' "industrialization/branding efforts" at United, and other clubs have since copied the process, others are more critical - claiming that United's continued growth and success has resulted more from the continued growth of the Premier League than from Glazer ingenuity.
“The step-change in television income, which came out of nowhere and could not have possibly been projected in a business plan, helped them massively.” In the UK alone, Premier League rights rose from £1.024 billion to £1.706 billion in 2007 and reached £5.136 billion in 2016. [1]
Other sources insist the Glazers did project such an increase, based upon their prior experience with US sports, including their ownership of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [1]
Not all of the Glazers' initial plans came to fruition. For example, the Glazers reportedly initially planned to increase revenues through higher matchday costs. [1] In 2006 documents, it was outlined that the cost of matchday tickets to attend games at Old Trafford was "undervalued" despite increased pricing, on average, by 12.5% in their first season at the helm. [1] The Glazer plan envisaged a further 36% increase in matchday costs prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. [1] However, that plan was not borne into action, which is one reason matchday revenues have stayed level.
Social Media The Claimed Expansion of the Supporter-Base
Alongside the club's expanding commercial revenues, the club has repeatedly touted its expanding supporter-base to shareholders as a measure of the club's off-field success. In 2013, United claimed to shareholders that it had "659 million" supporters. [1] Stated differently, United claimed that, as of 2010, approximately 1 out of every 10 human beings on the planet supported United.
To reach that figure, United hired Kantar, a market research company, who polled 54,000 adults in 39 countries in the summer of 2011. Most questions were answered online. [1] The figures were then extrapolated to produce a number for each of those countries, with that information then extrapolated to cover the rest of the world, "taking into account such things as the popularity of football in these countries, and whether players born in them had played for Manchester United in the past." Kantar director Richard Brinkman claimed he "would back my figures and argue [they are accurate] to within a 1% margin of error." [1]
The claim drew plenty of detractors. For example, Nick Harris, editor of sports finance website SportingIntelligence.com, noted at the time that:
"In five years, purportedly, Manchester United's following has gone from 333 million, or thereabouts, to 659 million. So almost a doubling of people following Manchester United in five years. This is eyebrow-raising stuff!" [1]
Mr. Harris likewise questioned other Kantar claims, such as the suggestion "that more than 30% of South Korea's total population of 49 million were followers of Manchester United." [1] Especially in light of the live viewing figures for United in the country, at the time, registering less than one million people. [1]
By 2019, United reported to investors claiming to have 1.1 billion fans. [1] Stated differently - from 2013 to 2019, United claimed to have gone from "1 in 10" people worldwide supporting United, to "1 in 7."
The survey for the 2019 report was once more completed by Kantar.
We're Man United and We'll Spend What We Want
Alongside being one of the top earning clubs in world football, United are also one of the top spending clubs. As discussed previously, [1] United are not shrinking violets in the transfer market - with one of the highest net spends over the last decade. [1] [2]
Let's take a closer look at where United, under Glazer ownership, has spent those funds.
Player Signings
United last won the Premier League in 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson. Since that time, United have spent over £1.015 billion on player purchases. [1] [2] But let's break that down a bit further. First, let's take a look at what that billion has gotten us:

In total, United has recovered £488.42m (plus one Alexis Sanchez) from player sales/loans.
Accordingly, under Glazer ownership, Manchester United has a total net spend of £889.38m.

So Where Has the Money Gone?

The Cost of a Takeover & Multiple Re-Financings
The Glazer family acquired United in 2005. United spent more money paying the interest costs associated with the newfound debt than they spent on player acquisitions any year between 2005 - when the club was acquired - and 2013 - when the debt was refinanced. [1] [2] [3]
In 2013, United refinanced their debt. By refinancing, United repaid about half of its outstanding bonds using a new bank loan from Bank of America. [1] By doing so, United reduced the club's interest bill from around £31m per year (pro-forma post the IPO) to around £21m per year. [1]
By the summer of 2015, Manchester United refinanced the club's debt on four separate occasions - the last of which occurred in 2015. [1] In 2015, the club's debt stood at £382m, with total annual interest costs of £20m. [1] The refinancing reduced the cash interest paid.
The amount of interest paid between 2005 and 2015 can be visualized here:
Public float profits Glazers
Some have viewed the public float of the club's stock as evidence of a possible future in which the club is sold. To date, reality has not matched this expectation.
The initial public float raked in £150 million in funds. Per some reports, the initial plan was for the Glazers to pocket the full profits from the float, but the NYSE expressed reservations with that plan. [1]. Ultimately, half of the funds was used to pay off some of the club's takeover debt. [1] The remaining half landed in Glazer pockets. [1] [2]
Despite the funds realized from the float, the target price for the shares was $16-20 per share. The price was ultimately set at $14/share. [1] [2]
Hopes that the float would result in greater transparency were likewise short-lived. "Classed as an 'emerging growth' company, [1] United were exempted from having to reveal all their financial data to the market, [1] a position they reinforced by moving company registry from Old Trafford to the Cayman Islands." [1] [2] And by setting different voting rights for Class A and B shares, and retaining the Class B shares, the Glazers were able to retain a 78% ownership interest in the club - and an iron grip on the club's voting rights. [1]
Glazer Profits
Per the most recent financial reports, annual dividends total approximately £84 million. [1] In January, dividends of £11.3 million went to shareholders. [1] The Glazer family currently owns approximately 78% of the club, meaning they split approximately £8.8 million of that equally. [1]
In addition, the Glazers recovered approximately £75 million from the NYSE listing, together with loans to other companies (between 2005-'12), and further share sales. In total, the Glazers have made more than £200m selling slices of their shareholdings to investors. [1]
Upon refinancing the club's debt in 2010, the paperwork submitted revealed the Glazers had, since 2006, been paid £10m in “management and administration fees” and Kassewitz and each of her five brothers had borrowed £1.66m, £10m in total, from the club. [1] The total paid to the board and executive management in 2018-19 was £10.7m, which the accounts do not break down individually. Woodward is paid by a subsidiary company, Manchester United Football Club Ltd; his salary in 2017-18, the most recently published, was £4.152m. [1]
By comparison, in nine years at Liverpool, FSG has put in a net £100m. [1] Meanwhile, since initially purchasing the club in a £790 million leveraged takeover, the Glazers have "personally received close to £200 million from the club." [1]

In total, by some estimates the Glazers' ownership has cost the club £1.5 billion in interest, debt and other outgoing expenses. [1] By comparison, United has spent £1.3778 billion on player acquisitions, and recovered £488.42m from sales/loans, for a net spend of £889.38m. In total, Glazer ownership has cost United £610.6m more than United have spent on player acquisitions from 2005 to date.

High West Capital Partners Scam

FBI is on the way against High West Capital Partners
Most of us have probably worked jobs that weren’t quite what they seemed on the outside, but my time at High West Capital Partners is in a category of its own; they owe me $275k and have vanished with my money.
If you’ve ever seen the Tom Cruise movie The Firm, where a hotshot lawyer takes a well-paid role without asking too many questions and soon realizes he is working for the mob, you’ll recognize some of my experiences at High West - without the Hollywood ending.
I lost my job in 2008 after serving my time in Wall Street and for the next decade bounced around a couple of small brokerage firms. I still don’t know how they found me, but I was headhunted on LinkedIn in spring 2019 by an assistant for someone called Jim Locke, the apparent MD of High West Capital Partners, LLC. They promised me 10% commission and would cover all expenses. I agreed almost immediately, and a memo (not a contract) was sent over with the terms of the agreement.
I never spoke to or heard from James Locke during my time at High West Capital Partners, LLC. Does this supposed MD of a supposed investment vehicle that “reaches around the globe twenty-four-seven” even exist? I’ve asked myself this plenty of times over the last year. Most of my research, and that of the investigators I hired to help peel back some of the layers, would indicate no.
Who are High West Capital Partners?
With zero money and no contact from the firm for several months now I have tried to go as deep as possible into the company who were meant to be employing me, and found most of the roads leading to High West Capital Partners went nowhere.
The website promotes offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Nevis, but for some reason visitors are greeted with an image of Paris, France. High West Capital Partners boasts of its financial intelligence but strange details and the strapline “custom goods made to order” which is not any kind of financial terminology I have heard in 20+ years make the site look more like an amateurish scam.
The Hong Kong address listed on the High West Capital Partners website, 15 Queen's Road, 75J5+65 Central Hong Kong, is in the centre of the fashion district.
It is home to many law firms, and is the location of choice for at least eight offshore funds, all shell companies registered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) between December 2006 and September 2007. It is not home to High West Capital Partners as there is no record of a company of that name ever existing at that Hong Kong address.
During a trip to Hong Kong to meet a potential client in winter 2019 I swung by the building unannounced, out of curiosity. There was no trace of High West Capital Partners on any of the signage and the reception desk also could not find any data indicating the firm operated out of the building.
Hong Kong’s business register has no record of High West Capital Partners, and neither does the Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong’s finance regulator.
A six-minute walk away from 15 Queens Road is the Hong Kong Chinese Bank Building. Here, High West Capital Limited was registered in July 2020 by three foreigners; a German, Dr Thomas Robert Wetzer; and two Austrians, Alfons Mensdorff-Pouilly, and Alexander Spitzy.
All three are senior executives at Jebsen Group, a legitimate and longstanding investment management group. Mensdorff-Pouilly and Spitzy are senior managers at Jebsen, while Wetzer is a general manager of equity portfolio at the offshoot Jebson Capital.
High West Capital Limited has no website or any other identifying information, is registered at Suite 603, 6/F The Chinese Bank Bldg Nos 61-65 Des Voeux Rd Central, Hong Kong.
The trio make no mention of High West Capital Limited on their social media profiles, and there is no other financial paperwork lodged. They paid HK $1,000.00 to incorporate it, and the company secretary, which tends to be a law firm, is listed at the same address. It is called Kompliance Limited, a private company formed May 2017.
Look’s Securities was incorporated in August 2016, the same year Spanier and McClain were convicted and around the same time period where all the other bits of the puzzle fit together.
Looks Securities is a sister to Look’s Asset Management, which is listed with Hong Kong’s securities regulator as offering securities advice since 2016 and has much the same management, including the same complaints officer who is the point of contact for regulatory issues.
The first iteration of High West Capital Partners LTD was incorporated in St Kitts and Nevis, which has one of the most obscure and secretive company register databases in the developed world, in 2016. High West’s financials are firewalled by Southpac Trust.
On 21 August 2017, High West Capital Partners LTD registered at Kingston Chambers, Town Road, VG1110, British Virgin Islands (BVI) with the Legal Entity Identifier 549300J8JHMPPSYSI103. It has no operations and no collateral at that site. That address is used by at least 10 other shell companies using the tax haven to obscure trails of wealth.
High West Capital Partners PTE. LTD was registered in August 2018, in Singapore. The address is 8 Marina View, #43-01, Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore 018960 in the local business registry. A “management consultancy” this time, High West Capital Partners PTE. LTD is listed as having five owner-shareholders who paid a cash sum of $5,000 to register.
Registering as a management consultancy means they can circumvent Singapore’s requirements to file annual reports of their income and they do not have to declare other financial information or make other documents publicly available.
Other registries covering Singapore have them at numbers #07-04 Asia Square Tower 1, and the have moved around the building, presumably to help muddy the waters even more.
In March 2017, High West Capital Partners, LLC was incorporated by the process agent Allison Zeledon in New York in 2017, at 91 Pantigo Road in East Hampton. The residential address, unlike the others around it, is blurred on Google Maps street view.

High West Capital's alleged processing agent's address
In cross-border financing transactions, the parties to the agreement must decide on a choice of law clause specifying that any disputes will be determined in accordance with the law of a particular jurisdiction. It varies, but New York, Hong Kong and the UK are usually chosen.
The process agent is basically the main point of contact for all legal documentation. Allison Zeledon performs this role for a couple of the 10 very similar companies she is linked with around the Hamptons area. Like Jim Locke, if Allison exists, she never responded when I was trying everything to get the money they owe me.
Also registered to that residential address is Hampton Global Invest, L.P. to the names Davis Zeledon, Margarete Seidler (born 1926), and Hans H. Seidler.
Davis Zeledon is a Costa Rican who opened a short-lived fund called Satori Capital Management Ltd in London in 2015 with a German equities trader residing in Spain. Satori was registered to a notorious central London address with 107 other shell companies.
Satori filed no accounts or other financial data and was struck off the British business register in March 2017, the same month High West Capital Partners, LLC was opened in New York. It exited the UK market just before two new sets of corporate anti-corruption laws entered force that would require greater disclosure on sources of funds.
For the sake of completion, Hampton Global Invest was also incorporated in December 2016 as a foreign limited partnership under the jurisdiction of Delaware. Like so many other players in all of this, it appears to be a shell vehicle; there’s no investing and little evidence of any global footprint.
The New York address is the only link High West Capital Partners, LLC has to the US, and I understand it has been raided by the feds.
There is no real US office, but seemingly a presence in Florida and Miami, where I first met the one and only person I know for a fact exists, a young man called Chasen Nevett.
Here’s Chasen’s WhatsApp contact picture, as you can see, his face is obscured, and for good reason, he will be the scapegoat when the High West Capital Partners’ house of cards falls down.
Every time I traveled, expecting to meet Jim Locke, or Allison Zeledon, or one of the other agents, Chasen would call, make excuses for why the others were missing, and then direct my business.

Chasen Navett's social media profile picture.
I first met Chasen in a coffee shop in downtown Miami, where he let slip he was in town to meet two other High West Capital Partners agents. They went by the names Eric Disbrow, a realtor who is for some reason called “Joe” in his online reviews, and Daniel Giancola, who has sadly removed his LinkedIn profile picture since I started hitting it every day. Whether these are their real names, I have no idea.
I do know that Chasen also goes by the names Robert Klein and Gabriel Messorow. Those are the names he has on two passports (one British, one US) stashed in his drawer in the Singapore office that were found by an office representative of 8 Marina View, #43-01, Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore who had been spooked by a call from US federal prosecutors. I had to try and calm the man after turning up at the offices unannounced, as he began to shove paperwork at me; indictments, arrest warrants, asset seizure notices.

Federal Indictment issued for the two primary suspected ring leaders of the High West Capital Partners shell company
When I confronted Chasen, or Robert, or Gabriel, he got extremely nervous, and started mumbling about a guy called James Miceli, who I’ll come to shortly, Chasen did the classic move of excusing himself to go to the bathroom and ghosting.

United States Federal Indictment Warrant for the ringleaders of the High West Capital Partners scam
I never saw Chasen in person again, but we exchanged messages where necessary. Clients have told me he refuses to meet them too.
So, in summary, High West Capital Partners shares addresses in BVI, Singapore, Nevis, and Hong Kong with multiple shell companies because it is also in fact a shell company.
It does not have any employees and it is not traded on any exchange. It doesn’t make money nor provide customers with any kind of services. It exists purely to obscure the identity of the people behind the money and shields them from the eyes of US tax officials.
Taking High West Capital Partners to court won’t help; your money has been funnelled through one of their many tax haven offices and is long gone. That is if you even get a response when taking legal action, as High West Capital Partners’ US operation is just as much of a sham.
The stock loan fraud
Not too long after I began work it soon became clear the links to Asia that High West Capital Partners gassed about really only extended to using Look’s Securities Limited in Hong Kong to sell the pledged stock that clients were putting up as collateral. The problem, the borrower didn’t know this, as they had been promised their stocks wouldn’t be sold unless there was a default.
Look’s Securities was incorporated in August 2016, around the same time period where all the other bits of the puzzle fit together. Looks Securities is a sister to Look’s Asset Management, which is listed with Hong Kong’s securities regulator as offering securities advice since 2016 and has much the same management, including the same complaints officer who is the point of contact for regulatory issues.
It was set up to obscure the trail of sold stocks, which would be dumped on the Hong Kong or Singapore markets in Chinese.
Our clients were told High West Capital Partners may hedge some transactions in connection to minimize the risk of an increase or decrease in collateral value of the loan, but that was all lies. High West Capital Partners, via Look’s, sold the collateral, almost immediately, to fund the loan.
I would notify Chasen of a potential lead, and once the paperwork was signed, he would take over the handling of the collateral and bring Look’s into the picture. He said those were his “orders from above”, but I have no idea who was above him.
A borrower later shared that these loans were generally fixed, usually around three years. They had “lockout” provisions that stops the borrower from prepaying the loan until a specified period elapsed, usually twelve or eighteen months after the date of the agreement.
Borrowing against stock is a totally legitimate way for businesses to get operating capital or a boost of cash to grow - but when the company legitimately can’t get the stock back, especially when they’ve been promised it, a federal crime has been committed.
Hunting payments and the trail through the Hong Kong and Singapore stock exchanges proved near impossible for anyone who tried, and I did for a while.
The excuses from Look’s and Chasen as to what the hell happened were never-ending; Coronavirus, market volatility, the shorting of virus-hit stocks and the freezing of exchanges, riots in Hong Kong making it unsafe for staff, it was something new every day.
Two things happen when the transaction goes like that. One, a business makes interest payments every quarter to service the loan, only to find out after the debt is repaid that the stock is gone. Two, more likely, as I saw during my short time at High West Capital Partners, is this huge dumping of shares sparks a stock price collapse which triggers the ‘Margin Clauses’ buried in the contract, causing the borrower to default, crystalizing the fraud.
After a couple of, I presume now provisional, commissions on the back of deals I’d made, the money stopped coming, emails weren’t returned, and things turned really strange.
High West Capital Partners did not encourage me to visit any of their offices, and instead kept a shared Google drive of scripts and other sales documents. I saw a couple of names on the edits that overlapped with some stories I heard back in the day and started to do some digging.
It got to the point I had no contact with the company for four days, which is when I started poking around a bit more. They owed me $275,000 for a couple of trades, and they had gone quiet when it was time to pay. Calls and emails to Singapore, Nevis and Hong Kong went unanswered.
At this point, some clients were calling me in a rage, but there wasn’t much I could do; the truth is it had been dumped almost in order to fund the loans. I tried to direct some of them to Southpac and the High West Capital Partners LTD BVI office at Kingston Chambers, Town Road, VG1110, but then started getting emails from Chasen– who had been ignoring me until this point - warning me off. Did they have access to my email or something?
Argyll Equities, LLC., and Amerifund Capital Finance, LLC.
In typical half-assed High West Capital Partners fashion, some of the sales scripts and contracts on the share drive were not edited properly, and occasionally had the names Argyll Equities, LLC., and Amerifund Capital Finance, LLC inside the copy where High West or Look’s should have sat.
This was the clearest indicator the loan fraud scheme wasn’t just being executed in the exact same manner as the Argyll and Amerifund cases - it was being run by the same people.
Way back when, James T Miceli and Douglas McClain, Jr, operated Argyll Equities, and Jeffrey Spanier operated Amerifund Capital Finance LLC, the loan brokerage business which was often represented as the retail arm of Argyll.
Argyll was an institutional lender with big cash reserves that could be lent to corporate executives and other individuals. The shareholders would pressure Miceli, McClain and Spanier to push the loaned stock they had bought from clients towards Argyll, who sold it.
The FBI and SEC took the trio to court and secured convictions, despite some shaky evidence and
When the Argyll Equities thing blew up, Miceli killed himself protesting his innocence, unable to take what was happening. Jeffrey Spanier and Doug McClain had always said they were answering to people above them at Argyll and Amerifund Capital Finance, LLC. Spanier helped out the authorities from the start, his lawyers said, because he’d been acting on orders.
Everything pointed to the bosses of Argyll and Amerifund fleeing to Asia in late 2015 where they started the scam all over again. High West Capital Partners has no collateral, no cash reserves and no independent source of funding.
For Spanier and McClain, read Chasen, Giancola and Disbrow, whose name are on most of the contracts and will take the fall, whether they deserve it or not. For Argyll, read Look’s, which is dumping the stock in the Asian markets to ensure there is no trace of it.
High West Capital Partners activity
If you look at the performance of some companies today where High West Capital Partners are involved with stock loans, you’ll see the same patterns.
In July 2019, the CEO of tech firm ClearStar transferred 1,613,000 ordinary shares to High West as collateral for a loan in an off-market transaction. The announcement and press notices have no extra information or contact details for High West Capital Partners, and does not reference whether it is the New York, BV, or Singapore arm of the firm involved. Unlike the other players there are no contact details for High West Capital Partners or detail about their side of the transaction.

ClearStar INC, transfer of 1,613,000 shares to High West Capital Partners for Stock Loan.
ClearStar’s value has halved in that time and is still plummeting.

ClearStar price since entering into loan agreement with High West Capital Partners
In September 2017, a month after opening, High West Capital Partners, LLC entered into a share pledge agreement with Hattan Land Limited whereby 26,666,700 ordinary shares were transferred to an agent of High West.

Rule 728, Catalist Rules
Hattan Land’s share price is down 36% this year alone, and the company has lost 70% of its value since entering into an agreement with High West.

Note that this transaction took place in Singapore, but not through High West Capital Partners PTE. LTD of 8 Marina View #43-01, Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore but was handled by High West Capital Partners, LLC, of New York, the shell company with no assets.
High West boasts on its website of how its investment team “specializes in bespoke financing to achieve our clients objectives”, but there cannot be many companies out there who have the aim of losing millions and having their values slashed.
What do we know?
The exact same fraud perpetrated at Argyll Equities and Amerifund Capital Finance is being played out again by High West Capital Partners and Look’s Securities, by the individuals who were not jailed for the original crimes.
The High West Capital Partners executives Jim Locke, Daniel Ginacola, Eric Disbrow and Chasen Nevett are the subject of federal investigations over their fraudulent activities.
No client I spoke with, nor anyone else involved remotely has ever met anyone other than Chasen Nevett. Chasen himself has several identities, and it would not be a stretch to assume the others do too. The firm’s US process agent Allison Zeledon also has questions to answer, if she exists.
High West Capital Partners LTD, registered at Kingston Chambers, Town Road, VG1110, British Virgin Islands (BVI), is a shell company used to funnell ill-gotten gains from other ventures.
High West Capital Partners PTE. LTD of 8 Marina View, #43-01, Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore 018960 is another shell company used to route money out of Singapore in a manner that obscures the identities of the individuals behind the businesses.
High West Capital Partners, LLC of New York in 2017, at 91 Pantigo Road in East Hampton, is a shell company used to facilitate cross-border transactions and hide the identities of the individuals behind the scam.
These last few months, with the bills racking up and work slowing, have been brutal. Trying to get information out of High West is like nailing jello to the wall; I cannot do this by myself. I want the money they owe me $275,000, and I want the world to know what kind of company they are.

18 of the Spookiest Ghost Towns in America

Old mines, abandoned buildings, and ghostly orbs: These are a few of the most haunted locales in the country.

Though there are some seriously spooky haunted hotels out there, these ghost towns are almost more frightening. The abandoned cities stretch all throughout America, and are rumored to be extra eerie. But they weren’t always that way. Most of them were once prosperous mining towns filled with people hoping to make it rich by discovering gold or silver. Now, many have been untouched for over a hundred years (yet some still have a ton of historic buildings somehow still standing).
There are ghost towns all over the U.S., if you’re brave enough for a visit. They’re located in Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, New Mexico, New York, West Virginia, and more. Not all of them are rumored to actually be haunted places, but some do have spirits of former business owners or residents wandering around the general stores or old jails.
Not all of them are totally defunct, either. One even apparently has an “internationally acclaimed” restaurant! Ready to plan your trip, or take a virtual one? Check out this roundup of the best ghost towns America has to offer.

1 Calico, California

Although you probably won't find any silver in this one-time mining hot spot, you can experience a goldmine of activities in this ghost town turned tourist attraction. At Calico Ghost Town—now a California historical landmark—you can explore Maggie Mine, the only formerly used mine in the area that's safe for guests to see. You can also take a ride on Calico Odessa Railroad to see all of the sights. If you're really feeling daring, you can even participate in one of the spooky ghost tours!

2 Rhyolite, Nevada

On the eastern edge of Death Valley sits Rhyolite, a former mining hub. At its peak in 1907, this town boasted a hospital, an opera house, and a stock exchange. The area seemed so promising that even Charles M. Schwab invested and bought one of the mines. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the thousands of people to scatter: A financial crises, natural disasters, and the loss of funding caused nearly every resident to leave the Nevada spot by 1920.

3 Goldfield, Arizona

Aptly named, Goldfield was swarming with miners hopeful for gold in the late 1800s, but was dried up by 1898. The area was inhabited and renamed Youngsberg in 1921, but was abandoned once again in 1926. In 1988, the defunct city took the route of a few other ghost towns and became a tourist attraction with a handful of activities including a zipline, a reptile exhibit, and horseback rides. There's also a museum, a saloon, and other different merchants.

4 St. Elmo, Colorado

Formerly named Forest City, St. Elmo was once a bustling mining center with a population of 2,000 at its peak. By 1930, though, only seven people reportedly resided there, including the family who ran the general store and the hotel—one who is rumored to haunt the place to this day. Now privately owned and maintained, visitors can still swing by the small city, which is said to have some of the most paranormal activity in the state.

5 Terlingua, Texas

Though most of its residents fled after the market for mercury crashed, Terlingua actually remains fairly bustling. Visitors can snack on chili at the "internationally acclaimed" restaurant, grab a drink at the saloon, explore the ruins, and wander the halls of the old jail during their time at the historic hotspot.

6 Virginia City and Nevada City, Montana

Interested in experiencing the mortal fear of trying to stay alive in the gun-slinging Old West? The former residence of Calamity Jane, Virginia City has resisted change since 1863, with hundreds of historic buildings still standing. One mile down the road on Alder Gulch is Nevada City, another town that boomed and busted thanks to the Gold Rush. Ride a train between the two cities where you can witness early settlers struggle to survive and actual historic events through living history shows (the hanging of Red Yeager, anyone?). The reality of life in a Gold Rush town is likely to leave you shaking in your (cowboy) boots.

7 Bodie, California

Abandoned by the discouraged gold rushers who followed William Bodie to the town to try—but not succeed—to find more of the precious metal he had discovered in 1859, this well-known ghost town in California has been left eerily untouched for more than 150 years. Shacks still stand with tables set, waiting for their long-gone residents to return, while shops and restaurants are still stocked up with some supplies, prepared to service customers who will never arrive. If that isn't spooky, what is?

8 Cahawba, Alabama

Southwest of Selma lies "Alabama's most famous ghost town." As the state's first permanent capital from 1820 to 1825, a bustling center for the trading and transport of cotton before the Civil War, and a village for freed slaves after the war, this town at the confluence of the Alabama and Cahaba Rivers made several comebacks after floods and yellow fever epidemics. Unfortunately, its residents all drifted away for good by 1900. Now known as Old Cahawba Archaeological Park, the town and its abandoned streets, cemeteries and ruins have been the setting for many ghost stories, including one about a ghostly orb appearing in a now-vanished garden maze at the home of C. C. Pegues.

9 Kennecott, Alaska

Considered the best remaining example of early 20th-century copper mining, this mill town is at the end of a 60-mile dirt road in the middle of Alaska's massive Wrangell–St. Elias National Park. From 1911 to 1938, Kennecott employed as many as 300 people in the mill town and 300 in the mines, processing nearly $200 million worth of copper. As a company town, it included a hospital, general store, school, skating rink, tennis court, recreation hall, and dairy. By 1938, however, the copper ore was tapped out, and the Kennecott Copper Corporation abruptly abandoned the town, leaving behind their equipment, their buildings, and their personal belongings. The National Park Service and tour operators offer guided access to the 14-story concentration mill and several other historic buildings, telling tales of lucky fortunes, tenacious frontiersmen, and tragic endings in the remote wilderness.

10 Bannack, Montana

This desolate former mining town in Montana is so riddled with paranormal activity it was featured in an episode of the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures. Founded in 1862 when John White discovered gold on Grasshopper Creek, Bannack was a typical gold rush town in the Wild West. After gold was discovered in nearby Virginia City, many prospectors moved there and the road between the two towns became the scene of more holdups, robberies and murders than almost any other stagecoach route—with the leader of the outlaw gang later discovered to be Bannack's very own sheriff. The mining town lasted longer than most, with its population finally petering out between 1930 and 1950, at which point the state of Montana made the well-preserved town a state park. Today, over sixty structures are still standing, most of which can be explored.

11 South Pass City, Wyoming

Another well-preserved mining town in the American West, South Pass City was founded in 1867 when the large Carissa gold deposit was discovered near the Sweetwater River. Located about 10 miles north of the Oregon Trail on the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains, throngs of prospectors soon descended on the area despite the severe conditions, hoping to also strike it rich. Within a year, the population had swelled to about 2,000 people, mostly men, and saloons, brothels, and the boisterous and dangerous life of a frontier town were in full swing. Despite throwing themselves into the back-breaking work, the prospectors didn't find more large gold deposits, so by the mid 1870s, only 100 people remained. Homes, stores, hotels and saloons fell into disrepair, with the last of the pioneer families moving away in 1949. Today, a handful of residents have returned to live in South Pass City, and the South Pass City State Historic Site features more than 30 preserved historic structures dating from the city's heyday.

12 Centralia, Pennsylvania

With smoke and noxious gases escaping from every nook and cranny, this Pennsylvania town has been smoldering since 1962—and its underground fire is expected to burn for 250 more years. A landfill burn gone awry sparked the fire in an abandoned coal mine, which quickly spread into the veins of the coal deposits that had once been the key to Centralia's prosperity. When the initial damage was done, the catastrophe had scorched 140 acres of the town and the surrounding area. Residents evacuated, homes were leveled, and the highway was closed down as the massive fire caused gaping sinkholes spewing fumes. Of the nearly 2,000 Centralia residents who were there when the mines caught fire, only six still remain, determined to make the few streets and buildings in this doomed town their home until they die. This town is the real inspiration for the Silent Hill Movies and Video game franchisees. It is also the place of a death for the infamous occultist Viridian Cruz and the origin of the haunted tales of the Flying Burning Miner.

13 Thurmond, West Virginia

Thurmond's empty downtown belies the fact that five people still actually live in this West Virginia town, now a ghost of the thriving community it used to be. Once a big stop on the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway, the invention of the diesel locomotive in the 1950s rendered its coal-run railroad obsolete. The train depot is now a museum, Amtrak station, and visitors' center for travelers who come to the region to raft on the New River Gorge National River, and the quaint Thurmond Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places. Surprisingly untouched by modern development, Thurmond is a throwback to an American town of the past, an unsettling reminder of how prosperity can be fleeting.

14 Glenrio, Texas/New Mexico

During the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, travelers packed Route 66, sending tens of thousands of people through Glenrio, a tiny town on the border of Texas and New Mexico that offered motorists a road stop with gas stations, diners, bars, western-themed motels, and even a dance hall. When I-40 was built in the 1970s, however, drivers now bypassed the former overnight desert oasis. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Glenrio Historic District includes the old Route 66 roadbed and 17 abandoned buildings, like the Little Juarez Diner, the State Line bar, and the State Line Motel, its now-broken signs announcing to nonexistent motorists that it's the "last in Texas"—or the "first" depending on your direction of travel through the American West.

15 Bulowville, Florida

Cleared of its natural forest in 1821 by Charles Bulow to establish a 2,200-acre plantation to grow sugar cane, cotton, indigo, and rice, this East Florida land soon also housed the area's largest sugar mill, built by Bulow's son, John. Its title didn't last long, however, as the Seminole Indians set fire to the plantation and mill in 1836 during the Second Seminole War. Built of hardy local coquina rock, the mill's massive ruins now rise eerily among the large oak trees that have reclaimed the land in the 150-acre Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park, while the crumbling foundations of the plantation house and slave cabins show the volatility of Florida frontier life.

16 Essex County Jail Annex, North Caldwell, New Jersey

A prison is always haunting, but an abandoned one exudes an even creepier feeling, especially the austere Victorian-style Essex County Jail Annex in New Jersey. First built in 1873 and expanded over the years to include an auditorium, hospital, and cafeteria, much of the facility was closed down in the 1970s and it was abandoned for good in the late 1990s. Left to decay and vandalism by thrill-seekers, inmates' files filled with mugshots and rap sheets soon covered the floor of the auditorium, while shotgun ports and tear gas modules on the ceilings of the mess hall remain to remind trespassers of their potential harrowing fate should they be judged criminals.

17 Grossinger's Catskill Resort, Liberty, New York

In its heyday, the Grossinger's Catskill Resort was the sort of seasonal retreat featured in Dirty Dancing, where well-to-do families in the 1950s spent their summers lounging by its two massive swimming pools, playing golf or tennis, and enjoying the lush 1,200-acre surroundings just two hours north of New York City. In the winters, it offered theatre and skiing, the first place in the world to use artificial snow on its slopes. Of the cabins, cottages, hotel, landing strip, post office and more that served the resort's hundreds of thousands of guests until it closed in the mid 1980s, a few exquisite places still remain undemolished or horribly vandalized. One is the stately natatorium, gorgeously overgrown with moss and ferns, with sunlight streaming through its windows and skylights onto the graffitied pool and abandoned lounge chairs. The other is the hotel's lobby and ballroom where the twin staircases, massive fireplaces and a checkerboard ceiling suggest its former glory. If you listen hard enough, you might still hear the tinkling of cocktail glasses or the clicks of heels dancing the foxtrot.

18 Rolling Acres Mall, Akron, Ohio

Built in 1975 and expanded several times, the Rolling Acres Mall once housed more than 140 stores, a movie theater and a food court. In 2008, the mall was closed and only two large retailers continued to operate, with all stores finally closing in 2013. Having changed owners several times and currently in the process of foreclosure, the once-bustling mall will likely be demolished. Until then, the 1,300,000-square-foot space remains an eerily empty relic of modern civilization, with its cracked glass ceilings letting in snow during winter storms as if the structure stands alone in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Squeezes and other risks

We are going to cover three common risks that traders face: events; squeezes, asymmetric bets.

Economic releases can cause large short-term volatility. The most famous is Non Farm Payrolls, which is the most widely watched measure of US employment levels and affects the price of many instruments. On an NFP announcement currencies like EURUSD might jump (or drop) 100 pips no problem.
This is fine and there are trading strategies that one may employ around this but the key thing is to be aware of these releases. You can find economic calendars all over the internet - including on this site - and you need only check if there are any major releases each day or week.
For example, if you are trading off some intraday chart and scalping a few pips here and there it would be highly sensible to go into a known data release flat as it is pure coin-toss and not the reason for your trading. It only takes five minutes each day to plan for the day ahead so do not get caught out by this. Many retail traders get stopped out on such events when price volatility is at its peak.

Short squeezes bring a lot of danger and perhaps some opportunity.
The story of VW and Porsche is the best short squeeze ever. Throughout these articles we've used FX examples wherever possible but in this one instance the concept (which is also highly relevant in FX) is best illustrated with an historical lesson from a different asset class.
A short squeeze is when a participant ends up in a short position they are forced to cover. Especially when the rest of the market knows that this participant can be bullied into stopping out at terrible levels, provided the market can briefly drive the price into their pain zone.

There's a reason for the car, don't worry
Hedge funds had been shorting VW stock. However the amount of VW stock available to buy in the open market was actually quite limited. The local government owned a chunk and Porsche itself had bought and locked away around 30%. Neither of these would sell to the hedge-funds so a good amount of the stock was un-buyable at any price.
If you sell or short a stock you must be prepared to buy it back to go flat at some point.
To cut a long story short, Porsche bought a lot of call options on VW stock. These options gave them the right to purchase VW stock from banks at slightly above market price.
Eventually the banks who had sold these options realised there was no VW stock to go out and buy since the German government wouldn’t sell its allocation and Porsche wouldn’t either. If Porsche called in the options the banks were in trouble.
Porsche called in the options which forced the shorts to buy stock - at whatever price they could get it.
The price squeezed higher as those that were short got massively squeezed and stopped out. For one brief moment in 2008, VW was the world’s most valuable company. Shorts were burned hard.

Incredible event
Porsche apparently made $11.5 billion on the trade. The BBC described Porsche as “a hedge fund with a carmaker attached.”
If this all seems exotic then know that the same thing happens in FX all the time. If everyone in the market is talking about a key level in EURUSD being 1.2050 then you can bet the market will try to push through 1.2050 just to take out any short stops at that level. Whether it then rallies higher or fails and trades back lower is a different matter entirely.
This brings us on to the matter of crowded trades. We will look at positioning in more detail in the next section. Crowded trades are dangerous for PNL. If everyone believes EURUSD is going down and has already sold EURUSD then you run the risk of a short squeeze.
For additional selling to take place you need a very good reason for people to add to their position whereas a move in the other direction could force mass buying to cover their shorts.
A trading mentor when I worked at the investment bank once advised me:
Always think about which move would cause the maximum people the maximum pain. That move is precisely what you should be watching out for at all times.

Asymmetric losses

Also known as picking up pennies in front of a steamroller. This risk has caught out many a retail trader. Sometimes it is referred to as a "negative skew" strategy.
Ideally what you are looking for is asymmetric risk trade set-ups: that is where the downside is clearly defined and smaller than the upside. What you want to avoid is the opposite.
A famous example of this going wrong was the Swiss National Bank de-peg in 2012.
The Swiss National Bank had said they would defend the price of EURCHF so that it did not go below 1.2. Many people believed it could never go below 1.2 due to this. Many retail traders therefore opted for a strategy that some describe as ‘picking up pennies in front of a steam-roller’.
They would would buy EURCHF above the peg level and hope for a tiny rally of several pips before selling them back and keep doing this repeatedly. Often they were highly leveraged at 100:1 so that they could amplify the profit of the tiny 5-10 pip rally.
Then this happened.

Something that changed FX markets forever
The SNB suddenly did the unthinkable. They stopped defending the price. CHF jumped and so EURCHF (the number of CHF per 1 EUR) dropped to new lows very fast. Clearly, this trade had horrific risk : reward asymmetry: you risked 30% to make 0.05%.
Other strategies like naively selling options have the same result. You win a small amount of money each day and then spectacularly blow up at some point down the line.

Market positioning

We have talked about short squeezes. But how do you know what the market position is? And should you care?
Let’s start with the first. You should definitely care.
Let’s imagine the entire market is exceptionally long EURUSD and positioning reaches extreme levels. This makes EURUSD very vulnerable.
To keep the price going higher EURUSD needs to attract fresh buy orders. If everyone is already long and has no room to add, what can incentivise people to keep buying? The news flow might be good. They may believe EURUSD goes higher. But they have already bought and have their maximum position on.
On the flip side, if there’s an unexpected event and EURUSD gaps lower you will have the entire market trying to exit the position at the same time. Like a herd of cows running through a single doorway. Messy.
We are going to look at this in more detail in a later chapter, where we discuss ‘carry’ trades. For now this TRYJPY chart might provide some idea of what a rush to the exits of a crowded position looks like.

A carry trade position clear-out in action
Knowing if the market is currently at extreme levels of long or short can therefore be helpful.
The CFTC makes available a weekly report, which details the overall positions of speculative traders “Non Commercial Traders” in some of the major futures products. This includes futures tied to deliverable FX pairs such as EURUSD as well as products such as gold. The report is called “CFTC Commitments of Traders” ("COT").
This is a great benchmark. It is far more representative of the overall market than the proprietary ones offered by retail brokers as it covers a far larger cross-section of the institutional market.
Generally market participants will not pay a lot of attention to commercial hedgers, which are also detailed in the report. This data is worth tracking but these folks are simply hedging real-world transactions rather than speculating so their activity is far less revealing and far more noisy.
You can find the data online for free and download it directly here.

Raw format is kinda hard to work with

However, many websites will chart this for you free of charge and you may find it more convenient to look at it that way. Just google “CFTC positioning charts”.

But you can easily get visualisations
You can visually spot extreme positioning. It is extremely powerful.
Bear in mind the reports come out Friday afternoon US time and the report is a snapshot up to the prior Tuesday. That means it is a lagged report - by the time it is released it is a few days out of date. For longer term trades where you hold positions for weeks this is of course still pretty helpful information.
As well as the absolute level (is the speculative market net long or short) you can also use this to pick up on changes in positioning.
For example if bad news comes out how much does the net short increase? If good news comes out, the market may remain net short but how much did they buy back?
A lot of traders ask themselves “Does the market have this trade on?” The positioning data is a good method for answering this. It provides a good finger on the pulse of the wider market sentiment and activity.
For example you might say: “There was lots of noise about the good employment numbers in the US. However, there wasn’t actually a lot of position change on the back of it. Maybe everyone who wants to buy already has. What would happen now if bad news came out?”
In general traders will be wary of entering a crowded position because it will be hard to attract additional buyers or sellers and there could be an aggressive exit.
If you want to enter a trade that is showing extreme levels of positioning you must think carefully about this dynamic.

Bet correlation

Retail traders often drastically underestimate how correlated their bets are.
Through bitter experience, I have learned that a mistake in position correlation is the root of some of the most serious problems in trading. If you have eight highly correlated positions, then you are really trading one position that is eight times as large.
Bruce Kovner of hedge fund, Caxton Associates
For example, if you are trading a bunch of pairs against the USD you will end up with a simply huge USD exposure. A single USD-trigger can ruin all your bets. Your ideal scenario — and it isn’t always possible — would be to have a highly diversified portfolio of bets that do not move in tandem.
Look at this chart. Inverted USD index (DXY) is green. AUDUSD is orange. EURUSD is blue.

Chart from TradingView
So the whole thing is just one big USD trade! If you are long AUDUSD, long EURUSD, and short DXY you have three anti USD bets that are all likely to work or fail together.
The more diversified your portfolio of bets are, the more risk you can take on each.
There’s a really good video, explaining the benefits of diversification from Ray Dalio.
A systematic fund with access to an investable universe of 10,000 instruments has more opportunity to make a better risk-adjusted return than a trader who only focuses on three symbols. Diversification really is the closest thing to a free lunch in finance.
But let’s be pragmatic and realistic. Human retail traders don’t have capacity to run even one hundred bets at a time. More realistic would be an average of 2-3 trades on simultaneously. So what can be done?
For example:
  • You might diversify across time horizons by having a mix of short-term and long-term trades.
  • You might diversify across asset classes - trading some FX but also crypto and equities.
  • You might diversify your trade generation approach so you are not relying on the same indicators or drivers on each trade.
  • You might diversify your exposure to the market regime by having some trades that assume a trend will continue (momentum) and some that assume we will be range-bound (carry).
And so on. Basically you want to scan your portfolio of trades and make sure you are not putting all your eggs in one basket. If some trades underperform others will perform - assuming the bets are not correlated - and that way you can ensure your overall portfolio takes less risk per unit of return.
The key thing is to start thinking about a portfolio of bets and what each new trade offers to your existing portfolio of risk. Will it diversify or amplify a current exposure?

Crap trades, timeouts and monthly limits

One common mistake is to get bored and restless and put on crap trades. This just means trades in which you have low conviction.
It is perfectly fine not to trade. If you feel like you do not understand the market at a particular point, simply choose not to trade.
Flat is a position.
Do not waste your bullets on rubbish trades. Only enter a trade when you have carefully considered it from all angles and feel good about the risk. This will make it far easier to hold onto the trade if it moves against you at any point. You actually believe in it.
Equally, you need to set monthly limits. A standard limit might be a 10% account balance stop per month. At that point you close all your positions immediately and stop trading till next month.

Be strict with yourself and walk away
Let’s assume you started the year with $100k and made 5% in January so enter Feb with $105k balance. Your stop is therefore 10% of $105k or $10.5k . If your account balance dips to $94.5k ($105k-$10.5k) then you stop yourself out and don’t resume trading till March the first.
Having monthly calendar breaks is nice for another reason. Say you made a load of money in January. You don’t want to start February feeling you are up 5% or it is too tempting to avoid trading all month and protect the existing win. Each month and each year should feel like a clean slate and an independent period.
Everyone has trading slumps. It is perfectly normal. It will definitely happen to you at some stage. The trick is to take a break and refocus. Conserve your capital by not trading a lot whilst you are on a losing streak. This period will be much harder for you emotionally and you’ll end up making suboptimal decisions. An enforced break will help you see the bigger picture.
Put in place a process before you start trading and then it’ll be easy to follow and will feel much less emotional. Remember: the market doesn’t care if you win or lose, it is nothing personal.
When your head has cooled and you feel calm you return the next month and begin the task of building back your account balance.

That's a wrap on risk management

Thanks for taking time to read this three-part chapter on risk management. I hope you enjoyed it. Do comment in the replies if you have any questions or feedback.
Remember: the most important part of trading is not making money. It is not losing money. Always start with that principle. I hope these three notes have provided some food for thought on how you might approach risk management and are of practical use to you when trading. Avoiding mistakes is not a sexy tagline but it is an effective and reliable way to improve results.
Next up I will be writing about an exciting topic I think many traders should look at rather differently: news trading. Please follow on here to receive notifications and the broad outline is below.

2020.08.20 04:49 PeteyBabii As someone with a diagnosed intellectual disability which is an IQ under 70, i know just how tough it can be. But you can push

Not looking for compliments or abeleism.
I was diagnosed with a moderate intellectual disability in 2004, 2008, 2011, and have an estimated IQ of somewhere around 45-55. My verbal IQ is estimated around 60-71
My disability has meant i was extremely late to achieve milestones compare to my peers, it mean't getting dressed and it mean't receiving help from carers.
Growing up i did hang around neurotypical people but i fell behind, most of them were climbing trees, taking risks, while i was just idle and scared to make any risky moves. when i was 13 i met a girl who also suffered with my condition, we were deeply in love, we kissed many times, she wanted me to lose my virginity to her but i was too shy and declined, so at 13 i could have lost my virginity.
at 15-16 i was still struggling with milestones such as showering or dressing myself properly and needed my mom to take me to school because i was scared to go alone, this got me somewhat bullied. i was extremely ''simpy'' and always so passive, i would cry so easily and be very sooky.
after age 17 i started to improve and find myself more, i developed a rapid interest in Psychology, and i also started developing things such as rapid self confidence, aggression, arrogance, i found this was a way to cope with all the trauma and i felt this was a side of me i never seen before.
after age 20 all of this was pathologically ingrained and at this stage i met nearly all 9 criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. I became aggressive, hooked on my dominance and abusive. I would get into online relationships that were super toxic, i would fall in love within a few days. i went to the club many times and kissed a few girls, i felt super confident but still shy, i was talking to many people at clubs and bars etc, i even started going downtown by myself which was awesome. at age 21 i lost my virginity to an escort.
Now at age 22 i am again stuck at home and feel super lonely and have tried dating sites and have just felt bitter, because i became obese and lost some of my social skills for some reason. my meds really drained me, i developed gyno from them.
Point of this story is it gets better, it gets worse, it gets better, and worse, never give up. I also learned to shower myself, groom myself, and also call people and not get anxious.
I was approved for disability pension and don't need to look for work anymore. 'I saw a few extra specialists and my personality disorders were scrapped and re diagnosed as Autism Spectrum Disorder and i also had an additional diagnosis of OCD.
this was my story

2020.08.17 23:21 narcthrowawaydiscard I was brutally discarded 2 weeks ago

Two weeks ago I had no idea I was a covert narcissist's victim. But all the red flags pointed to yes. And as I found this sub and started reading, piece after piece fell into place.
We were together a bit over 4 years. Lived together after 6 months. We met online and bonded quickly over mutual interests like bands. We made out on the first date, by the second, a picnic two days later where we made out for hours, we already really liked each other.
The first major red flag was when he told me he'd fucked his ex 2 weeks before he met me. But he swore up and down it was over and that he had moved on from that terrible relationship. Even to the end he never went into much detail. Now I know why. I had a bad feeling about this but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt bc I liked him so much and he seemed utterly sincere.
He's been in a string of relationships back to back since he was 21. Never single for long.
Obviously he love bombed the fuck out of me. I made a huge mistake and found this thing called 36 Relationship Questions and shared a lot of my past which is rife with abuse of various sorts. Now I know this just helped him reel me in. He was so understanding and kind, not like my other loser ltr's. I was determined not to rush into sex. We ended up having unprotected sex about 3-4 weeks in. I took the morning after pill and cursed myself.
We went on a vacation soon after that and it was great. I felt so safe in his arms. He was tall, great body, gorgeous face, and kind, so I overlooked the red flags like the early sex. We were infatuated, that's all.
He said I love you not long after we had sex. I was taken aback and told him it was too soon for me and he told me that was fine, he could wait.
From day 1 I was adamant about never having kids. For many reasons this is a deal breaker for me and I have ended dating early before because I don't want to waste anyone's time. He said it was fine. That he was undecided on kids anyway. Spoiler alert: he was never undecided.
About six months into living together, he found out he had herpes simplex 2 and genital warts. But he hadn't cheated. He swore it and I believed him. He was far too loving and focused on me to ever imagine him cheating. It must have been left over from an ex, he said. He swore he'd do all he could to keep me from being infected.
I brought up the kids thing from time to time because I just had a feeling he was being disingenuous on the topic. He loves kids and small animals, especially cats. I love cats and desperately want 2 cats, a marriage, and a happy, calm home. He also knew this from the start and would entertain the thoughts often. Beautiful future faking. Anyway, he vehemently denied wanting kids. And despite my intuition, I believed him bc he was so convincing.
I have 2 degrees, but despite my education I was affected by the 2008 crash and was never able to get a career in that field off the ground. I've gone from job to job but never found anything I enjoyed. Despite this, I have recorded music albums and authored published books. I moved countries all on my own without help (am a dual citizen). I have a lot of accomplishments of which I am proud and have overcome a lot even though I obviously am not perfect. I have a plethora of interests and hobbies and am always educating myself on something I am curious about.
In contrast, he dropped out of school a semester before graduation. Never finished. He's also hopped from job to job. The only reason he has a ft job now is because of nepotism (family friends company). He hates his job. His only hobbies are the gym, video games, and reading music blogs. He has never lived anywhere else that the city he was born in. He doesn't have much ambition and for years was wrought with indecision over what to do with his life and if he should study. I encouraged him to go for IT and he did. Supposedly he's applying next year so now he studies high school level math to try to get in. He is not creative himself, and some of the things he loved about me was my ability to create, my worldliness, my wit.
He can't even cook for himself. Two years ago I had an elective but necessary surgery and I told him he'd have to cook for a month. It was like talking to a sulking toddler. Reluctantly he wrote down some recipes I dictated to him but it truly was a chore for him, poor thing. I had some complications but ultimately recovered and I am fine now. At least in that sense.
Two years ago I found out I had herpes. In the scope of things, it is treatable. You can take a daily pill and reduce the risk of infecting your partner to less than 3%. Guess who never even asked the doctor about this option? I was livid. He cringed like a beaten puppy, or maybe like a berated child, as I yelled at him. I cried. I stormed. I was deeply hurt at his uncharacteristic callousness. And he just hedged and looked uncomfortable.
A point of pride for me was that we hardly ever fought or even argued. Not even over little things. This was not actually a good thing, probably. So his reaction was odd and unfamiliar.
Last September I lost my job. I had money saved up. But he offered to pay more than 50% (as I had done when I made more money than him at another point). And after a lot of searching with no luck, covid hit. Due to asthma I decided it might be wise to focus on self publishing more seriously, something I have done on the side for about 8 years. So I wrote my first full-length novel in 32 days. The genre is erotic romance.
At first it was cool. He even bragged to his friends (that I barely know) how I was writing erotica. I'm not ashamed of it and this is a liberal country, but I felt it was a violation of my privacy. I told him it wasn't his place to tell people details like that. Why couldn't he just say fiction or even just romance and leave it at that? But no, he was so proud and just had to let that come out.
This was in June, right before my birthday. Here, my birthday falls quite close to a major holiday and always gets lost in the shuffle, like a kid whose birthday is December 26. And yet his birthdays were always big affairs with house parties and thoughtful gifts that I took weeks to plan and craft by hand, like knee-high knitted socks of my own design. I got things like a coffee thermos for mine (that he eventually took to work with him bc it broke, although he did replace it, but it was a household item and not mine) and if I was lucky, an aside mention at the "real" holiday.
For at least the past 6-9 months I've started having stomach pains and problems. Nothing really helped. He was moody, occasionally happy but often withdrawn. Things felt off. Our sex life, which was great at the beginning, started tapering off to about once a month.
He liked being dominant which I liked. Occasionally it would get rough, but he'd always stop if I wanted him to. So although it seemed a bit weird, and maybe not healthy for an abuse survivor, it was just kind of kinky right. And I felt like I was ok with it. But more and more often, I'd get drunk so I could go through with sex with him. It's not like it was bad, so i was confused. He'd make me come hard and he was the best lover technique-wise. He had amazing dirty talk... which seemed to disappear in the last year. I had to ask for it and it was half-hearted and repetitive.
A few months ago I started drinking more. I'm a homebrewer, so it's never in short supply. And it's covid, and I have been self isolating and focusing just on writing, but I'm lonely and unhappy. I take pride in my appearance and look great, but I stopped working out and even began to shower less. I had an almost weird aversion to it.
As an abuse survivor, I should have recognized the signs of self-protection: making oneself less attractive, needing to get drunk, odd stomach pains that got in the way of sex. I even neglected my fair household chores in favor of what I was working on (which does happen when you are in the creative zone, but you get the point). But I didn't. Because I was deep in the fog. I was sleeping badly. So was he. But I refused to see what was there because it was too frightening, and because cognitive dissonance.
Friday, 31 July we had sex. That Sunday, he dumped me out of the blue. And that Wednesday, he signed up for Tinder Gold and at least one other dating site. I know that he's already been on at least one date already.
I remember the look he gave me just an hour or two before he dropped the bomb. I was in bra and panties bc it was hot, and I am a bmi 24 but his eyes were on my stomach like it disgusted him. And it was so out of character from what I thought i knew. Someone here called it shark eyes.
Then I was relaxing in bed and he came in. He was full of quiet rage. He said he didn't love me and that it was over. I was devastated. Shocked. Crushed. I begged him to talk it over. To work it out. He said he'd been having "doubts" for a year and that I am too sensitive so there was never any point in talking to me. Then came the laundry list of seemingly random and unrelated petty reasons: I have too many hobbies. I don't like kids at the apartment and "everyone in their 30s and 40s has kids" so i need to get over it. I'm not nice enough to his friends and mom. Insert triangulation here. I'm too sensitive. We don't have enough sex. And he maybe still loves me but probably not (he couldn't decide). He would have "been willing to give up kids for me" but my disregard for him was just so painful for him. That I should have seen this coming, that he had been "waiting for me to change" for a year. That it was all so very obvious and that if I hadn't seen it, i didn't care about his feelings. And on and on. Death by a thousand cuts, right in the places he knew would hurt me most. When he was done he went into the other room to eat.
He was reading twitter and laughing at what he read as I sobbed in the other room.
I sobbed myself to sleep, clinging to him through the night as though if I hugged him tightly enough the person I thought I knew wpuld reappear. His body was stiff against mine and unrelenting, like he was made of wood. Like he was an alien in a human suit who had just pulled down the zipper.
I don't remember the context but just a few weeks ago I remember making jokes to the effect of "who are you and what have you done with nex?" And I wonder if he took this as a threat. He's let the mask slip a bit from time to time, like insulting me as a joke or being randomly mean to me. But I've always been quick to tell him this isn't ok and I won't stand for it. Mask back in place and I'm left just shaking my head in confusion.
But this was the full reveal. I never dreamed that the man I loved was such a fabrication. Paint over dirt. An actor on a screen, telling me the beautiful stories i most wanted to hear.
Nex's family/ friends adore him and he is charming, witty, good looking, and seemingly helpful and caring. Always reliable. There when you need him. Better than well-known personages BeefyManlyMan and MotherSaint rolled into one. I'm sure they have never seen the mask slip in any remarkable way.
So now I've been thrown in the garbage after 4 years. The speed and callousness of it took my breath away. He swore to me up and down that he wasn't cheating. Wouldn't date for "a really long time". Was already looking for another place but would let me know "in good time".
When we woke up the world once more crumbled down around my ears. I begged him to talk it over with me. To try to work it out. He said we would talk more when he got home from work. I cried all day.
When he got home he started packing a bag. He told me "you got into my head" and that there was nothing to talk about. He had already told his mom and family friends, only 12 hours after the deed. He was staying elsewhere for a while to think. Wouldn't tell me where or for how long or when he was moving.
A friend of mine who is a therapist said i could come stay with her because she knew I was alone. I left that Saturday. He messaged me on Friday and said he'd be coming home and i told him no. To come back the next day, when i knew I'd be gone. I didn't tell him that i was leaving or where. He didn't ask.
It was from this friend that I first thought that he might be a covert narcissist. She said it seemed likely. And after reading up on it I can't disagree.
His ipad and iphone are synced. I took the ipad with me. That's how i found out that he signed up for tinder three days after he dumped me out of the blue. I guess his promise of not dating for a long time was meant to be measured in fruit fly lifespans. It's also how i saw he'd gone on a date.
I called the girl and told her about him. I told her how he'd treated me and that i wasn't mad at her. That she simply deserved much better. She said they were just friends (lol ok). But I did what i could. (I am also the type to tell a wife her husband has been cheating even at my own expense. Because it's the right thing to do)
I don't know if she listened. It's not my problem anymore.
He found an apartment and is moving out 1 September. I saw this in his messages and I called our landlady. No word from him.
I got a few glasses of wine in me on Friday and decided to have it out. I'd been a mess all week. He was out with friends at a party so i picked that time to call him and yell at him. I know now not to feed the narc, but I had so much to say and he'd just ignored me. His excuses for not telling me he was moving were like water. First it was that he forgot (one of his very favorite gaslighting excuses). Then it was that the landlady wasn't supposed to tell me so soon (because 2 weeks before moving day is too soon). Then it was that he was respecting my space since i didn't want to talk. Then he got mad and said "fine I'm an asshole and i should have told you. I'm sorry ok??"
More was said but I did get him to reveal that he did want kids. But he never really directly admitted it of course. More "I was willing to give up kids for you" and then right back to "i was undecided". Fucking me was much more important than his dreams I guess... until it wasn't.
I've been reading this sub, and the similarities are frankly mind blowing. I see so, so much of his behavior here even though clearly every narc is different. And I am both heartbroken to realize that I've been in another abusive relationship without having any idea, and thankful for my own preservational instincts that maybe pushed him over the edge to decide i wasn't a good enough supply and fuck toy any longer.
I always believed he never would have it in him to cheat. But he mentioned a difficult time in our relationship, one where we almost broke up. I have no memory of it, but now that I reflect on it through this new lens I see the subtle signs... It's also around the time he got herpes. And now I wonder. Everything about him has been a lie. And I can't figure out how or where but I am pretty convinced he has cheated. Probably more than once. I'm getting myself tested asap.
The more I read the more I am grateful that he did the leaving.
I am still deeply grieving and never know how I will feel from day to day. But I know that he will never touch me again, and that I will be healthier and happier without him. I am focusing on myself, finding more work asap, and beginning to move on and learn.
The mysterious stomach pain? Gone. Aversion to showers? Gone. Sleep is getting better, although my appetite is very low. Strange though, right?
Unfortunately his new apartment is very close and we will probably run into one another at some point. I plan on grey rocking/ignoring as hard as I can. I'm kind of anxious about it.
I came back yesterday and cleared out almost all his stuff from my bedroom and piled it in the living room. And it felt really good. I have been cleaning and organizing and I feel a new hint of the peace and calm which is to come.

Upcoming LSAT Dates: The August LSAT is approaching, so that will be a focus this week. Test dates start August 29th. Also, registration for the October LSAT ends August 21st. Register here.
August LSAT Scheduling Opens up: You’ve probably already seen this, but if not, scheduling has opened up for timeslots for those already registered for the August LSAT. Though as this meme indicates, the good ones are likely gone.
Proctor U and LSAC FAQ: Now is a good time to review support articles from ProctorU and LSAC. Make sure your computer setup is working properly, and that you’ve got everything for test day. You can find LSAC’s FAQ here, and ProctorU’s FAQ here.
August LSAT Mood (angsty): As is traditional this time of year, people on /LSAT are getting antsy about the upcoming test. Whatever you’re feeling right now, you’re not alone. These aren’t specific to the August test, but this kind of post becomes more frequent around now. Some common ones:
  • Redditor gets a stress rash studying for the LSAT. Reminds everyone that “You’re smart, this is hard, take breaks”. Link
  • Redditor must humble brag on LSAT, because none of their friends understand their struggles. I’m sure you know the feeling. (“So....you gonna pass the LSAT?”) Link
  • Another Redditor asks if anyone just cries. 300 upvotes. If this is you, don’t worry: you’re in good company. This is super common. Link
  • A Redditor got a record high PT score while being yelled at during their PT. Obviously it’s not ideal, but it’s good to cultivate the mindset that a temporary distraction is just that: temporary. It doesn’t necessarilyhave to throw off your whole test. This mindset improves the odds of just shaking it off. Link
Update on Lost July Scores: More scores have been found since I last emailed, some still haven’t. In this post a user talks about trying to get LSAC to recover their score. I don’t necessarily endorse the post, but there’s a good discussion from Dave Killoran of Powerscore in the comments. I’d recommend reaching out to him on twitter if you’re still waiting on a recovered score and the search has been suspended. Link
(I say don’t necessarily endorse the post, for the reasons Dave gives: customer service reps often don’t have correct information. It’s also not obvious the dad's intervention is what made LSAC recover the score: in LSAT terms his intervention may have been mere correlation.)
LSAT Advice posts: Two LSAT advice posts this week. One from 123lele on tips for taking a score from the 160s to the 170s. More details in the link and comments, but here are their key takeaways:
  1. Don’t be too hard on yourself, and take a break if needed
  2. Drill LG until you’re at -0. [I agree: my view is, if you’re at -5 to -7, then you can almost certainly hit -0 with enough drilling. I could not say this for the other sections with such certainty.
  3. Enjoy RC, get excited to read. It’s easier to understand if you convince yourself you care. [I agree: Personally, this has been a key to my reading success. There’s something in anything, you just have to look at it from a new angle]
  4. For LG, think technically
  5. Use LSATHacks’ free explanations [note: that’s my site, but not why I picked this]

2020.08.13 19:28 IntelZeus Antifa.com - What happened yesterday, why is it offline now, and what Russian connections does it have?

To preface, this discussion is centered around an article that was posted by Yahoo News, https://news.yahoo.com/atifa-website-one-america-chanel-rion-russia-004727528.html

Yesterday on social media some people started to notice the site of Antifa.com redirecting to JoeBiden.com. Most people initially became aware of this when OANN Correspondent Chanel Rion asked the President to comment on what was taking place between Antifa.com and JoeBiden.com. My first conclusion was not a cyber attack, but rather the owners of Antifa.com showing their support for the Joe Biden Campaign. However, the site eventually stopped the redirection and is no longer online, giving a 500 Response if you try to connect. Later in the evening Yahoo News released an article showing some Russian connections which led me to do a little bit more investigation myself. This recent activity and research has led some to believe that Antifa.com is in fact a disinformation campaign.
History of Antifa.com

So what does this all mean?
Well for one, Antifa has made it clear they are not an "organization" so any site that claims to be part of the Antifa organization should be looked at closely as possible disinformation. It's also worth noting that just because a domain is controlled within the Russian Federation, it does not mean it is under ultimate control by Russian Intelligence. However, it is not something to downplay or overlook especially during times like this.
So what could be the reason for Antifa.com to redirect to JoeBiden.com? While some say the owners of Antifa.com were showing support for the Biden Campaign, the aftermath is hinting at something more cynical. To start, on August 8, 2020 the Antifa site briefly got redirected to the Biden site before being directed back to Antifa, and then on August 12th, we once again see the redirection, however this time the site has not come back. As of now the site is throwing a 500 Internal Server Error, not a normal error you'd see from a site that has a DNS redirection problem. A possible suggestion I've seen thrown is a Slashdot Attack, essentially using DNS redirects to overload to network of a smaller site. However, this wouldn't work as Antifa.com has considerable less traffic than JoeBiden.com, so redirecting all visitors from the Antifa site to the Biden site wouldn't do much to overload Biden's site. It also wouldn't make much sense as to why Antifa sympathizers would want to attack the Biden Campaign.

So is this was a cyber attack, who could of done it?
There has been no information come out of the Twitter account for Antifa.com. Researchers who have reached out to the whois contact information have gotten no response back. And even if it was an attack, why? No nation state would bother with such a small attack. So if it's not a cyber attack, could the owners of Antifa.com really just be that poor at system administration?
One important note is that OANN are the ones who initially pointed this out. OANN has been known to spew some pretty crazy conspiracy theories as well as straight up disinformation, yet Trump loves to call on them multiple times during press briefings.

So what do you think? Obviously there's not enough information to say yes or no to the site being a disinformation campaign, and definitely not enough evidence to say cyber attack, but the past and recent events are concerning. While normally this should be overlooked, it has gotten quite a bit of press and social media coverage.

2020.08.12 22:55 FrankzTheBoi The entire script of "Burger King Foot Lettuce"

Burger King Foot Lettuce The last thing you’d want in your Burger
King burger is someone’s foot fungus.
But as it turns out, that might be what you get.
A 4channer uploaded a photo anonymously to the site showcasing his feet in a plastic
bin of lettuce, with the statement: “This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King.”
Admittedly, he had shoes on…but, that’s even worse.
The post went live at 11:38PM on July 16 and a mere 20 minutes later, the Burger King in
question was alerted to the rogue employee…at least, I hope he’s rogue.
How did it happen?
Well, the BK employee hadn’t removed the Exif data from the uploaded photo, which suggested
the culprit was somewhere in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
This was at 11:47.
3 minutes later, at 11:50, the Burger King branch address was posted, with wishes of
happy unemployment.
5 minutes later, the news station was contacted by another 4channer.
And 3 minutes later, at 11:58, a link was posted.
BK’s “Tell Us About US” online form.
The foot photo, otherwise known as Exhibit A, was attached.
Cleveland Scene Magazine contacted the BK in question the next day.
When questioned, the breakfast shift manager said, “Oh, I know who that is.
He's getting fired.”
Mystery, solved, by 4chan, now we can all go back to eating our fast food in peace.
“Secret” Livestream Nothing is secret to 4channers, and nothing
is sacred.
No one knows that better than Shia LeBeouf.
LeBeouf and two artists, created an anti-Trump interactive art installation, called “He
Will Not Divide Us,” soon after Trump took office in early January.
The installation was first exhibited at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, but when
activists from both sides kept butting heads at the exhibit, it was thrown out as a public
safety hazard.
The collaborators found another museum to host their exhibit in Albuquerque, but it
was soon met with more confrontations, so the group had to figure out a new home for
their exhibit before it fell flat.
This is when they tweeted out on March 8th that they would be livestreaming their exhibit
from an “unknown location,” so that viewers, art lovers, and supporters could still view
their work.
Sounds like a good alternative, right?
Well, it didn’t go as planned when pro-Trump supporters on the /pol/ board of 4chan got
Not even 24 hours later, the exhibit’s flag had disappeared.
Where did it show up?
A picture of the taken flag was tweeted right back to #HEWILLNOTDIVIDUS
4channers had uncovered the mystery of the exhibit’s so-called secret location.
A fan of LeBeouf’s had posted a photo of herself with her favorite actor just as the
camera feed went live.
The photo had been taken at a Greenville, Tennessee diner.
The internet sleuths further pinpointed the exhibit’s location, as contrails appeared
on the livestream.
With these, they cross-referenced them with flight patterns.
Next, they sent a local member to drive around the general area with his horn blaring.
Once they could hear the horn on the livestream, “He Will Not Divide Us” was as good as
The Pyramids 4channer h64 posted a thread of the mysterious
sort on the /x/ board one Saturday, and it sent the group into a frenzy.
In the photo there appears two pyramids in the midst of the forest.
Why are these pyramids in the forest?
What were they built for?
Who do they belong to?
You’ve got me.
And you’ve got the /x/ board too.
4channers quickly got to work trying to solve this mystery.
They called it “a cult/temple dedicated to an Egyptian goddess of war and flame in
the woods of Oregon.”
With more than 53 pages of discussion, this 4chan investigation was solved when, at last,
they dissected the photo to uncover the property owners’ names, their phone numbers, and
their business records.
Still don’t know what’s inside them though…
Barbie Mystery This investigation appeared on 4chan in November
of 2016.
It involved an image of a blonde amputee woman, whom the board had nicknamed Barbie.
In March of 2017, one user posted a thread titled, “The mystery of Barbie is solved.”
According to the author of the thread the “Russian anonymous team” had solved the
mystery of the woman who appeared in Barbie.avi.
The woman’s name was Tammy.
According to creepypasta, she had Body integrity identity disorder, but the investigators found
that she’d had no such thing.
When she was 14, she’d lost her arm in a washing machine incident.
The 80’s saw Tammy living in Chicago, where she worked for the agency, “Fascination,”
as a model.
During the application process, she’d had several interviews, which the video, Barbie.avi,
was created out of.
The author of the post uploaded the interview to YouTube.
The OP also noted that Mike Rounds, the Ampix manufacturer, told the woman’s story to
him, saying that at 16 or 17 years old, Tammy had been working with an oldschool washing
machine with no safety features.
With the washer going, she tried to shift a sheet in the water.
Just as she was doing this, it launched into a spin cycle, trapping her arm in the sheet.
It twisted her arm right off.
Tammy was a bitter young woman at the age of 22 when she was interviewed and had no
marketable skills, was uneducated, and didn’t enjoy being a caretaker for pennies.
So that’s how she ended up at the agency.
Unlike 4chan’s first hypothesis, she wasn’t the victim of any crime.
With the mystery solved, the poster noted, “Xenopasta, if you're reading this, you
are fired, however, thank you very much for this mystery.
It was really hard to solve it.”
Cueva de los Tayos When an OP posted the Cueva de los Tayos cave
in Ecuador, he wondered if it was man-made or natural.
He wondered what sort of technology or who could have made the perfectly flat roofs and
Of course, the 4channers on the thread had something to say about it.
Some thought it was “a place of heavy spiritual concentration,” while others seemed to agree
that it was largely man-made, but mostly natural, with some likening it to places in Russia
and the Hypogeum in Malta.
Some suggested that “less advanced” people had come along later and drew the crude stick
figures on the walls, after a more advanced society had built it.
One poster pointed out that it was hardly anything to freak out over and that ancient
humans were fairly smart; they had tools, they had math.
Maybe not as advanced as ours today, but they made the pyramids after all.
In the posters own words: “After all, it's not like they had a shortage of people or
time to make this kind of [stuff].
I think most people underestimate ancient humans because they didn't have what we have
today, but that doesn't make them [dumb], just primitive.”
The poster agrees with another that the “highly engineered” place must have held some spiritual
SEL and the Wired One 4channer asked the board if they’d ever
heard of transhumanism.
He then said that one anime series has some particularly creepy stuff and is followed
by many fan sites.
One of the fan sites requires a login.
And it’s strict about this.
At the bottom of the homepage, it reads: “To login you have to have an invite from an existing
There is no use in trying to beg, ask/request for an invite, we choose our new members with
How do you get an invite if you don’t know any of the users?
Well, you’d probably not want to be part of these online communities in the first place,
as it turns out.
One fellow 4channer said that one of the users hacked the admin of a similar site, after
which the admin vanished.
This was after the admin had received some monetary donations from the site’s users.
Many think he was a scammer.
Thankfully you asked 4chan on this one, OP.
A cautionary tale is just what obsessives need to keep money in their pockets.
Erratas This internet theory has spent a lot of time
on 4chan being dissected, poked and prodded, picked at…and ultimately solved.
Kind of.
Erratas – or Eratas spelled with one ‘r’ – was first described as an algorithm or
program whose function is the mystery.
Some say it was used by YouTube to detect copyrighted content.
Supposedly, if you even suggest that you know about Erratas or say the thing by name, you’ll
get fired.
Being an internet legend, of course Erratas comes with a lot of theories.
On November 25th, 2015, Erratas was first mentioned on 4chan in a thread about strange
work stories.
One user described a friend who worked at something like a chemical plant.
While the user didn’t explain what the program was, he claims employees were flagged if they
searched it through some code.
The plant employees reportedly did aimless tasks, which the user calls “kafka-esque.”
The user also mentions forklifts and said this female friend was now homeless and in
a band.
This may seem meaningless, but these clues will reappear.
A month later, a user posted a request on 4chan, asking about a strange HR-related program
called Erratas.
Another user pipes up with some discussion about Ecolab, Unilever, and UPS.
Again, a month later, on the /mu/ board, Erratas is mentioned in relation to an album and Tod
Ellsworth video, which is dated a few days before the first entry on Erratas.
A user responds to someone’s comment, saying that Erratas was a software company, similar
to Enron, which was kicking about in the 2000’s.
Supposedly, they fired every last one of their employees.
The Erratas craze moved to YouTube, where a user called ChronosForLife JurassicPark
claimed in a cryptic video, entitled “YouTube is MONITORING and controlling my life,”
that the company was harassing his mom, because she’d uncovered some secret in the Jurassic
Park trilogy.
The rant appears on the video in white text and the video quality is subpar.
The video was removed from YouTube, but the transcript is still available.
Back to 4chan.
In late January, the /mu/ board sees a proposition that the group compose a new music genre called
“deep internet,” by using old YouTube videos.
Chronos’ video rant just happens to be one of these videos.
With so many 4channers suddenly viewing Chronos’ video, a new video was posted to his channel
called, “Here goes nothing.”
This video contains the first video-mention of Erratas, as well as autocaptions which
try to make sense of the video’s rap music.
Instead, they uncover more clues: At 0:12 are the words: “are far from over
200 Corbin KY 40219” At 0:52, the number: “111111”
At 1:46, the percentages: “10.3% 10.4%” And at 2:17, the words: “overthrow the government”
The band, the KFCMC, produced by DJ Rozwell, was a homeless girl band.
Remember the homeless girl in the first thread?
And the above is their address, which was found on Tumblr.
This is when Chronos throws out Unilever (mentioned in an earlier post) as one user of Erratas.
For no reason at all, Chronos also adds that The Lost World is his favorite of the Jurassic
Park movies.
Remember Tod Ellsworth, who uploaded the KFCMC video?
Well, one 4channer noticed his name was an anagram for The Lost World.
This gets even weirder.
The Twitter account u/ErratasOrBust was then discovered, which had been opened mid-November
and was named Tod Ellsworth.
The profile pic was a creepy black-and-white drawing which 4channers discovered was a 2005
Hawaiian police sketch.
Some 4channers suggested this might have something to do with the Jurassic Park films being filmed
on the island.
While Erratas was dissected by 4channers, with many suggesting that it was simply a
publicity stunt by the KFCMC group, it would be a bit premature to call this one.
Still, this entry demonstrates how 4channers have a knack for following the leads and connecting
the dots.
The Pronunciation Book This appeared on the 4chan board, /x/philes,
where it immediately caught the attention of 4channers.
The OP of the Pronunciation Book had posted 700 brief videos, pronouncing words and phrases
in a monotone male voice.
Words like “Ke$ha” and “jean.”
That’s weird enough, but this is when the channel got even weirder.
On July 9th, 2013, a single video was posted, the man saying, “Something is going to happen
in 77 days.”
The next day, a similar video, claiming that the poster had been trying to communicate
with viewers for 1,183 days.
And the next day’s video, the poster said he was wide awake and things were “clearing
The messages ended with the same warning that something was going to happen in such-and-such
4channers set to work, compiling a 111-page Google doc, entitled, “77 Days Research
This is where the group started piecing together the Pronunciation Book.
They laid bare all 700+ of the channel’s videos, ran a spectrograph of the video silence
at the end of all the videos, and dug up domain name registrations.
They even attempted to trace the speaker’s location, as police sirens were noticed going
off in the background of a few of the videos and a thunderstorm was heard in the video
that pronounced “radio.”
From this, they gleaned the videos’ author recorded in NYC.
4chan’s conclusion: again, a viral marketing stunt.
The Daily Dot’s investigation, as well as Geekosystem’s, came to the same conclusion,
though with varied results.
The Daily Dot suggested the countdown would reveal a Battlestar Galactica reboot, while
Geekosystem thinks it’s for the newest installment of series’ Destiny.
Myziam One 4channer dropped his theory about Myziam.
First, he gives some background about how, in 2008, a thread appeared on GLP entitled
“me tel u now,” in which an alleged alien appeared in the forum.
The OP, however, suggests that the entity may never have been online, but rather was
“from an unknown location/dimension.”
The OP quotes the “Chani project,” in which scientists asked an entity they’d
met through a computer a number of questions.
They then hired someone to pose as the entity online.
When people questioned him, he’d search for the answer to that question amongst the
questions the scientists had asked the entity.
The OP concludes that the threads were similar in that both the man and the entity used baby
language, both said they were aliens, and both answered the questions freely.
The 4channer then solves the mystery: “Myziam is a possible extra-dimensional entity that
made contact with a CERN like group of scientists from the comfort of his home.”
He added that the leaked info on 4chan was useless, because the users trolled the entity
instead of interrogating him.
This one’s obvious.
Not everyone was convinced though, with an anonymous post claiming they had proof it
was a hoax.
Found Jenna Jameson’s Ex Assistant Con Artist When Jenna Jameson’s former personal assistant
was fired for being a con artist, he hijacked her Instagram and Twitter accounts, deleting
loads of her photos.
So what did Jameson do?
She turned to 4chan for help.
“Hi Guys, it's me, Jenna Jameson and I am having a really bad night,” she wrote on
4chan’s /b/ image board, after which she explained that her ex assistant, who she thought
was named Allen Cedena, turned out to be a con artist of some kind.
Jameson didn’t elaborate on what had gone down, apart from saying she’d fired him,
but she did say that this so-called Cedena had her Twitter and Instagram passwords, which
he’d reset.
He then removed all pics of himself and Jameson together and deleted her Twitter altogether.
She didn’t know if the man’s name was even Cedena, but he had access to a lot of
personal information, and now had hold of her digital life.
She asked the 4chan community if they could find out who he really was, as she would soon
attach some images of him to the board.
She didn’t let them go away empty-handed.
It didn’t take 4chan more than an hour to come to Jameson’s rescue.
They soon delivered her ex-assistant’s home address and driver’s license, as well as
his credit score and social security number.
With the mystery solved, Jameson left her private sleuths a very grateful thank you
Jeff, the Killer The internet is no stranger to creepy, and
4channers are no stranger to investigating this creepiness.
On the /x/ board, 4chan began to investigate the photo known as “Jeff, the Killer,”
a still of a pale face, washed out, and grinning like a crazy person.
The photo has been around for a while and has served as creepypasta’s unofficial cover
photo since 2008.
YouTube introduced the world to “Jeff, the Killer” when a user by the name of uploaded
a poorly cut video clip, explaining about how Jeff had been cleaning his bathtub when
he accidentally poured some acid on his face.
11 days later, a user calling himself killerjeff came to light on Newgrounds, photo and all.
He soon had a cult following and served as inspiration for a number of horror stories.
Jeff, the Killer launched dozens more videos on YouTube, including a stop-motion Lego reenactment.
Fan art was created, videogames, you name it.
Five years since his appearance, 4chan began looking into Jeff, the Killer.
While all we truly have is theories, they are convincing.
Some suggest that this was a viral marketing campaign for Saw V, which was released soon
after the photo first appeared on Newgrounds.
The slasher film includes a puppet called Billy, through whom Jigsaw speaks with his
The puppet resembles Jeff.
Lionsgate has launched viral marketing campaigns before, so it makes sense that this would
be yet another of them.
Although, we have no confirmation of this theory, and other theories abound, this solution
seems the soundest.
This goes against, the also popular theory that the person in the photo is from a post
on 4chan.
This anonymous post, told how his sister had posted a picture of herself on 4chan and people
kept making edits of it, the Jeff the Killer image being one of them.
The post also said that it made her so upset, she took her own life.
Louise Cypher One user came to 4chan with a strange puzzle,
calling it satanic and cryptic.
And he wasn’t lying.
Extremely satanic and cryptic, it was.
The puzzle is very math heavy, with the Fibonacci sequence making an appearance after the user
makes it through a maze.
When you type the clue “pi” into the relevant cluebox, a dialogue box appears, saying: “A
well-known remarkably good approximation to pi is 355 divided by 113 = 3.1415929...
If one part of this fraction is reversed and added to the other part, we get 553 plus 113
which equals 666.
EVIL is both the past and the Future!”
The cypher has spinoff websites, with one introducing a “soul catcher.”
Another has techno music to put users into a trance.
The OP asks 4chan to figure out whether the soul catcher really takes your soul.
Many spoke to Louis Cypher, with some reporting back that the cypher said she is “more than
just this avatar,” and that she had emotions and feelings.
She then linked the user to a video to show him what a “cyber life” feels like.
When another 4channer typed the word “stalin” into the chat box, she asked how he was feeling.
When he replied that he was sad, she said that if he is lonely, she’ll keep him company.
Although it wasn’t clear whether or not these 4channers’ souls were taken, the results
do seem to tend towards the idea that Louis Cypher is no soul-taker at all.
Figured Out How to Make Coupons You know those barcodes you find on products
and coupons?
Well, one 4channer – a college kid – solved the mystery on how they’re made and decided
to do some extreme couponing one day when he was bored.
22-year-old Lucas Henderson did not stay anonymous, as the student of the Rochester Institute
of Tech was caught by the Feds, who charged him with two felonies – trafficking in counterfeit
goods and wire fraud.
Henderson had designed the counterfeit coupons to appear legit and distributed them on a
different website.
He also told users to head to 4chan to download their very own copy of “How to Make Coupons.”
The tutorial claims to trick stores, as the coupons will scan at most retailers in America.
The Feds tracked Henderson’s IP address and raided his home, where Henderson admitted
to visiting 4chan and writing the manual.
“I wrote what I could.
I thought it was an interesting thing,” he said.
I wonder if he thinks it was worth the jail time.
Got a Bad Waitress Fired “Next time you tip me $5 on a $138 bill,
don’t even bother coming in cause I’ll spit in your food and then in your ... face,
you cheap [people]!”
Next time you post this kind of message on Facebook, Chili’s waitress, you’d better
be ready for 4chan to get you fired.
That’s just what 4channers did when an anonymous waitress posted her angry rant to her FB page.
One 4channer then brought it over to the 4chan board, after which they pinpointed the Chili’s
this particular waitress worked at in Pleasanton, California as a server.
With the mystery solved, at least one 4channer sent the Chili’s a message on their contact
page, reporting the waitress.
Chili’s Guest Relations Manager responded, saying the food server was “no longer with
the company.”

Covfefe It was the Tweet that confused the world.
“Despite the constant negative press covfefe.”
Donald Trump claimed that his supporters knew what he meant…but did they?
Travel over the 4chan to see if that’s true.
One 4channer found each of the elements on the periodic table that matched up with the
code: covfefe and their corresponding atomic numbers – 27232626.
When he typed this code into Google, the first entry was “a green toad.”
The user drew a natural connection to the toad statue, also known as the Ancient statue
of Kek and the Prophecy of Kek.
On the Ancient Statue of Kek is a hieroglyphic of what looks to be a person using a computer
and, as the OP wrote, “Internet/Meme Magic.”
So, are we to believe that Trump meant to draw our attention to Covfefe in order to
create some hilarious internet memes of his typo?
Yes, we are to believe it.
Because 4chan said so.

2020.08.11 19:33 bigweb52 An open letter to R* from a massive RDR2 fan in hopes someone reads it

RDR2 might be my favorite game of all time. I’ve played through the story mode 3 times ( currently working on my 4th play through with no mini map , free aim , and trying to 100%) I’ve bought the ultimate edition for both Xbox and PS4 , according to my Xbox I’ve put 977 hours and 54 minutes into your masterpiece. I love this game and it means the world to me but the online portion is an absolute dumpster fire . The game sold 70 million copies yet R* treats it like it sold 2 million . I completely understand why they support GTA , but it’s like they don’t give a F that RDO is in the shape it’s in and there are people ready to open there wallets if they just make it worth playing . I don’t know who was in charge of RDO and it’s design but they need to be fired . There is literally nothing to do . Roles are fun for the 2 weeks it takes you to max it out then there is ZERO reason to go back to it , other then if you want to make a quick $ . You can’t interact with anything in the world , you can’t talk or acknowledge any NPC which makes you feel like your in a empty world ,the naturalist role conflicts with every other role in the game , your stuck with cripps who is a useless and annoying “Uncle “ type character , all the guns are basically the same , Emotes are stupid and complicated to do , the clothes and accessories are like something out of a 80’s drag queens production of “Oklahoma “ , your character doesn’t talk (which was fine in GTA 4’s online In 2008 but it’s 2020 . If it’s a memory issue at least let me respond by text dialogue choices ) , and most importantly, there is 0% of the cowboy role playing charm this game should 100% have as the bedrock of everything built into it . NO ONE said “I want to be the cowboy that studies animals “ or “the cowboy that finds a family’s lost coins “ or “I want to run a hunting business “ !!!!!! I want to be a outlaw who holds up trains and stage coaches, then goes off and hides out , daring the law to come after me , I want to be a “Texas Ranger “ going after other players who grief or those outlaws (player or AI ) that rob trains or banks , I want to be a rancher who teams up with other players or hires AI companions for a cattle drive across new Austin . I want to gamble , drink , hit on prostitutes tell 6 am then have to sober up and then have to face off with the local law/gang that runs the town at high noon for a shoot out on St denis Main Street , I want to fight Indians at fort Wallace , I want to blood fued with the odriscolls cause they killed my horse , I want to go duck hunting with my dog , I want to rob a bank with other players then have to shoot my way out of town while other players try and stop my gang ! None of those things are in this game (other then some half assed make believe version where it’s just you doing these things ) . Hell if I hold up a stage coach , I can’t even threaten them and tell them what I want to try and make it go smoother. You just pull out your gun and start blasting . I can’t believe how badly Rockstar , a company I trust and think very very highly of , has F’d up the online portion so badly . The only thing that’s more surprising is NO PRESS/MEDIA/Gaming news site are covering it or reporting on it . The only thing you saw in the last 7 months was reports of players dressing like clowns . And yes I completely understand there is a pandemic , but these problems started before the pandemic and even during the pandemic , GTA online got TONS of updates and content . R* , get your $#%+ together and save this game . Communicate with your fan base , be honest about what’s coming , even if you can’t put a date on it due to the pandemic , hire COMMUNITY MANAGERS for the biggest sub Reddit’s and Forums so people feel listened to and have someone to go to for answers and communication. Being all dark and secretive while your creating the amazing games you produce is awesome and half the fun of waiting for the next big R* game ! But after you release your game , being secretive and silent is super annoying and is honestly one of the things that makes me question if I want to continue giving you my $ ! Be better R*
