Dev Patel partner

Questioning

2020.08.13 00:16 daikonhoney Questioning

Hi everyone, I came out as pan in my early twenties. Then I met my current (male) partner and I've been with him for two years. I genuinely love my partner but I hate sex and cuddling.
The thing is I actually have enjoyed sex with men. Or at least I think I did. The irony is that the enjoyable sex has been with men that I was in horrible, dysfunctional relationships with. I was also always a sub getting off by the man looking at me and imagining how he felt. Most of these men haven't necessarily been super masc but definitely saw themselves as "the man."
On the other hand, my current relationship is loving, nourishing, and respectful. I don't feel like I have to fit this ideal femininity any more. (Ironically after a bad breakup I embraced my femininity and went full high femme.) If anything, I feel like maybe my partner would be more attracted to me if I was more androgynous. The thing is he's not a top in bed, doesn't look at me, and is interested in pegging. All of these things really turn me off.
I'm not sure if I'm pansexual or actually a lesbian. When I think about other men I can imagine myself maybe sleeping with them and maybe dating them, but never really both. For example, I'd bang Idris Elba but would I ever date him? Probably not. Dev Patel seems like he'd make a great boyfriend (the hair! the charm!) But I bet sex would suck after a few months. And I can never picture myself dating a man more than a few years, and never marrying or having kids.
With women it seems different. I have sexual and romantic fantasies about women but they're just that: fantasies. I don't have any real life experience to flesh out these fantasies, so I don't know if i'm just romanticising my imagination. Has anyone been in a similar boat?

2020.04.15 16:32 VedantBorle Seven TV shows to Binge-Watch this Quarantine Season

With the nationwide lockdown in full swing, things might get a bit repetitive, considering going out is a big no-no. With that in mind, we have a list of binge-worthy TV shows, starting from Netflix to Amazon Prime, which will definitely help you get over the self-isolation blues!

1. Money Heist Part 4 (Netflix)

If you haven’t started it yet, we would like to join the peer pressure gang just like everybody else on social media! The basic storyline remains the same as a group of dangerous criminals from around the world coming together for a heist. The gang is led by a “Professor”, one with the perfect plan depending on which they set out on the heist – unrolling action, thrill and mind games. Money Heist is the type of show, which, if you start once, you won’t be able to stop. And that is all the more reason why you shouldn’t miss it! You’ll understand why the show sparked a wave of enthusiasm around the world.

2. Brews Brothers (Netflix)

is here to seriously intensify those cravings. The plot revolves around two rival brothers who come together to open a brewery. They are poles apart in their approach and attitude but run the brewery together. And their techniques, just like their personalities, couldn’t be more different. Watch this hilarious show loaded with lots of banter, beer, and bromance!

3. Sex Education (Netflix)

Do you crave content that gives you butterflies in your stomach? If yes, you better get down and dirty with Sex Education. With a plethora of characters reflecting the real-world and overflowing with wit, Laurie Nunn’s high school comedy is a great pick. The TV show is packed with sexual discoveries, banter, drama, fun and comedy. The concept is simple yet brilliant. Revolving around the life of a sexually awkward teenage boy Otis and his sexpert mother (she wears killer jumpsuits though!) Raised by a therapist single mom, Otis starts giving novice sex advice to his classmates for a trivial fee. Flaunting fabulous style, Eric is the joyous gay best friend we all deserve. This show combines slices of life & takes you through the lives of a bunch of teenagers coming of age.

4. Modern Love (Amazon Prime)

is going to make you fall in love with your partner all-over-again. The TV show features a stellar star cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Dev Patel, Tina Fey, Andrew Scott and more. Modern Love adapts unusual and different love stories taking place all around New York City. If you’re someone who enjoys unconventional and unique take on matters of the heart, Modern Love is a perfect choice. Although some of the episodes are truer to the source material than others, yet, like the column itself, the series does have its pleasures and its truths.

5. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon Prime)

is simply a delight to watch. The storyline goes as such: Midge Maisel, a housewife, is left by her husband in the pilot episode. Midge finds no choice but to reassess her life. She realises that she is naturally gifted with an atypical talent – standup comedy! The series follows the trajectory of her journey as she goes about pursuing a career in the chauvinist stand-up comedy profession. She accidentally stumbles onto the stage at a nightclub, discovering her own comedic skills. She eventually determines to use this newfound talent and revive her whole life.

6. Asur (VOOT)

is a story of a man fighting his inner demons and disturbed childhood caught in between myth, dharma and religion. He masterminds a series of killings on the pretext of social justice. Nikhil Nair, a former forensic officer-turned-teacher at the FBI HQ, is requested to return to the CBI’s forensic team. He initially denies the offer but later accepts it. Eventually what follows is a cat and mouse chase that has deeper links to the past. Asur is a very clever addition to the digital content. Such an unlikely yet captivating brew of myth, science, and investigation rooted in detail. Don’t miss this TV show if you are a fan of thrillers and mysteries.

7. Panchayat (Amazon Prime) The Viral Fever aka TVF is back with a brand new TV show headlined by Jitendra Kumar. Now, who doesn’t remember Jeetu bhaiyya from Kota Factory, right? As of now, you may already be familiar with his fame, acting chops and on-screen persona. Adding to his bag of talent, which tells the story of a young man who moves to a remote village in UP looking for a job. Considering the star cast and the makers, it is packed with powerhouse performances and a strong storyline. Undoubtedly, this web series will be an absolute favourite among viewers. Panchayat is a refreshing inclusion to all the new shows and movies on Amazon Prime Video.

COTI crew shared their anti-scam guide for this reason. DOMSCRYPTO covered the project in their latest video. DoYourTip was covered in an iHODL news feature.

And with that, we close for this week at Parachute. See you again with another update. Ciao!

2020.01.24 13:37 malchik23 We just created a mega-guide to SaaS marketing, covering 41+ tactics and case studies. Here are the highlights.

Hey guys! So we just published a gigantic resource for learning how to market a SaaS business. It’s a long-ass 14k word guide with 41+ tactics, 50+ case studies, and pretty much everything you need to know to take your SaaS from 0 to 100.
We’ve received amazing feedback (both positive and constructive) over the past two days, and a bunch of people also asked me to post this here, so here it goes. I made a somewhat Reddit-friendly summary of just a handful of the strategies. Hope you find this useful!

Strategy #1 - Get your SaaS featured on online media

Getting that sweet, sweet, TechCrunch mention can have a ton of benefits for your SaaS. You get the social proof of hanging that “Featured On” section on your landing pages, immediate traffic, chance to impress new investors, and so on.
A lot of companies invest a ton of money in RP agencies and get “Eh” results at best. See, what most of those agencies do is send a generic press release to their media list, and call it a day.
They get you results? Good! They don’t? Well, you get the canned “the media wasn’t interested in your story, unfortunately.”
Want to DIY your PR AND get much better results? Here’s how:
The idea is, you need to find people who wrote about your competitors and send them a pitch they can’t refuse.
Since they already covered your competitor, that means that they’re interested in your type of software/niche.
As long as your product is good and your pitch spot-on, they just DON’T have a reason NOT to write about you.
So, that brings us to step #1: Create a list of your competitors.
Then, Google their names with the following search query:
[keyword] -site:[competitor’s website]
Or, a real example:
asana -site:asana.com
What this does is, it gives you a list of website that talk about your competitor excluding their own domain.
For each media feature you find, extract the following information:
Then, find each journalist’s email. To do this, use one of the gazillion email finder tools out there. Some of our favorites are:
  1. ClearBit Connect
  2. Hunter.io
  3. Snov.io
Finally, send a personalized email to each journalist. Here’s the template we like to use:
Subject: Your Article on [Topic]
Hey [Name],
I saw that you wrote about [Company They Covered]’s new [Feature / News].
Thought that you might be interested in covering [Your Software Name]. We’re like [Company They Covered], but with a different focus. What really makes us stand out is…
[Feature 1]
[Feature 2]
[Feature 3]
If you want to check it out, I created a special promo code that should give you free access to the software: [promo code]
Let me know your thoughts!
Best,
[You]
Beware, though, that each email you send should be:
1 - Personalized. Don’t just send the same canned email to everyone. Actually understand the points the journalist is covering, and focus on those exact points in your email.
Good Example:
Hey [Name],
I’m writing to you about your article on [Company X]. You mentioned how you didn’t like [Feature] about [Software]. We agree - [reasoning why this feature is bad / incomplete / whatever].
At [Company Name], we have a very similar product as [Company X], but we managed to make the [feature] a lot better by [how]. We thought you’d be interested in checking it out! Just use this promocode, and you’ll get a lifetime free account to give it a try!
Awful Example:
“Hey Sir / Madam,
I’m writing to you in regard to your article on [topic]. Very good article - super comprehensive! I, too, own such a SaaS product. Thought you’d want to give it a look too: [link]
2 - Short and to the point. A lot of CEOs we’ve worked with think their product is a LOT more than it actually is. Instead of focusing on the product in their email, they write like a long-form essay on what’s the mission of the company, what features they’re working on, etc.
Newsflash: no one cares. Stick to what features you have and how they differentiate you from the competition.

Strategy #2 - Cross-promote with complementary products

This strategy isn’t as common, but with the right partner, it can really get you results.
The idea is, you find a partner that has something you want and offer an exchange. Some things you could swap are:
Now, since all that is pretty vague, let’s cover a real-life case study.

Case Study: Hired & Pocket

Pocket, if you haven’t heard of them, is an app for saving articles for offline reading. A TON of their users are techies & IT people.
Hired, on the other hand, is a reverse job board. Companies apply to developers, and devs get to pick where they want to work.
So, the two made a deal:
Pocket would blast an email promoting Hired.com to their audience of 1.7+ million people
In exchange, Hired would let Pocket hire several developers for free.
Here’s what the email blast looked like.
The deal was a win-win: Pocket saved themselves 5-6 figures for hiring costs (Hired.com charges up to $15K+ per successful dev hire), and Hired.com got 40,000+ registrations.

Strategy #3 - Create a micro-site

A micro-site is a small web-based tool that solves a very specific need that your potential customers might have.
Then, you market the hell out of this tool and upsell your main product when possible.
For example, HubSpot’s website grader is a separate website/tool that helps you understand how well your website is optimized in terms of…
It’s safe to assume that anyone that cares about how well their website performs could end up using one of HubSpot’s gazillion tools.
And then, of course, when you land on their tool, you get an upsell for giving HubSpot a try.
According to the book Traction, the website grader was used by over 3 million websites since it’s launch, and HubSpot gets a very decent number of leads from it every month.
Want another micro-site example?
If you dabble in SEO, you’ve probably heard of UberSuggest.
In 2017, Neil Patel acquired it for $120,000, completely revamped the old design, and is now using it to generate leads.
Sure, the tool is 100% free, but if you want to get the most out of it, you have to sign up, and once you do, you get an email from Neil upselling his agency.

Conclusion

I hope you guys found this useful!
As I mentioned before, this post is a Reddit-friendly list of highlights of our mega-guide to SaaS marketing, which covers 41+ strategies and case studies similar to the ones above.
If you enjoyed reading this, I’d recommend checking it out!
EDIT: Wow, I am really impressed by all the positive remarks! I really want to thank you all for the constructive feedback. Reddit is more helpful than expensive editors and advisors IMO.
EDIT 2: Wow, wow, triple wow. I can't believe someone decided it was good enough to give it a platinum award. Thank you so much!

GALLERIES

Work Artwork – November 2018 through April 2019 in the Corridor Gallery, Columbia Research Center. As the State Historical Society of Missouri’s Columbia Research Center prepares to move into a new space in 2019, we pay tribute to the talented staff and volunteers at all of SHSMO’s six locations throughout the state with a final exhibition in the Corridor Gallery. The exhibition WORK ARTWORK consists of art by some of these staff members and volunteers. The variety of imagery and media on display reflects the creative energy and dedication that is otherwise expressed in the day-to-day activities of everyone employed at the State Historical Society.
Varsley’s Cosmic Visions – December 11 through May 12, 2019 at the MU Museum of Art & Archaeology. In 1959, Victor Vasarely issued a portfolio of twelve serigraphs named after prominent stars and constellations in the northern hemisphere, and he dedicated these experiments in Op Art to French astrophysicist Alexandre Dauvillier. Our presentation of this complete portfolio will highlight the symbiosis between creative and scientific thinking, as well as celebrate humanity’s enduring awe and fascination with the celestial.
The Aesthetic of a Monumental Figure Fall 2018 – Spring 2019 at Columbia Research Center - Throughout the history of Western art, painters have signaled the importance of human figures by representing them on a large scale. Such figures may be contemporary, historical, allegorical, or religious. Traditionally a “monumental figure” is half-life-size or larger. This exhibition includes seven pictures with such figures. The selection includes commissioned portraits, anonymous nudes, imaginary figures, and images of everyday people. Audiences may see personal, political, psychological, and social meanings in these images, and these messages are amplified by each picture monumentality. Women of Distinction Exhibit – February 5 through June 2 at the Museum of Art and Archaeology. This exhibition highlights portraits of nine women from young to mature, humble to affluent, famous to nameless. All are linked by the emphasis on the subject’s remarkable character, imparting the beauty reflected in their strength, wisdom, and life experience.
Objectified: The Female Form and the Male Gaze– February 15 through June 2 at the Museum of Art and Archaeology. This exhibition will ask critical questions about portrayals of the female nude, a prevalent subject throughout European and American art. Do justifications of representing the nude as natural, beautiful, and traditional hold up to critical awareness of the subjugation of women and objectification of their bodies throughout history? How do we reconcile the heroic personae of artists with their mistreatment and abuse of women in their lives, whether models, muses, lovers, or wives?

MOVIE GUIDE

AFTER - Based on Anna Todd's best-selling novel which became a publishing sensation on social storytelling platform Wattpad, AFTER follows Tessa (Langford), a dedicated student, dutiful daughter and loyal girlfriend to her high school sweetheart, as she enters her first semester in college. Armed with grand ambitions for her future, her guarded world opens up when she meets the dark and mysterious Hardin Scott (Tiffin), a magnetic, brooding rebel who makes her question all she thought she knew about herself and what she wants out of life.
AVENGERS ENDGAME - Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers -- Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner -- must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos -- the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
BREAKTHROUGH - BREAKTHROUGH is based on the inspirational true story of one mother's unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith's adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost. But as John lies lifeless, Joyce refuses to give up. Her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John's recovery, even in the face of every case history and scientific prediction. From producer DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven) and adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith's own book, BREAKTHROUGH is an enthralling reminder that faith and love can create a mountain of hope, and sometimes even a miracle.
CAPTAIN MARVEL - An Air Force pilot develops superhuman powers.
DUMBO - Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears. When the family discovers that the animal can fly, it soon becomes the main attraction -- bringing in huge audiences and revitalizing the run-down circus. The elephant's magical ability also draws the attention of V.A. Vandevere, an entrepreneur who wants to showcase Dumbo in his latest, largerthan-life entertainment venture.
HELLBOY - Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.
HOTEL MUMBAI - A gripping true story of humanity and heroism, HOTEL MUMBAI vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff is the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, “Homeland") is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.
LITTLE - Jordan is a take-no-prisoners tech mogul who torments her long-suffering assistant, April, and the rest of her employees on a daily basis. She soon faces an unexpected threat to her personal life and career when she magically transforms into a 13-year-old version of herself right before a do-or-die presentation. Jordan will now need to rely on April more than ever -- if April is willing to stop treating Jordan like a 13-year-old child who has an attitude problem.
MISSING LINK - Tired of living a solitary life in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Link -- 8 feet tall and covered in fur -- recruits fearless explorer Sir Lionel Frost to guide him on a journey to find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, the trio encounters their fair share of peril as they travel to the far reaches of the world. Through it all, they learn that sometimes one can find a family in the places one least expects.
PENGUINS - An Adélie penguin named Steve joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he's targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after.
PET SEMATARY - Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences.
SHAZAM! - We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's case, by shouting out one word - SHAZAM! - this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult superhero Shazam.
THE BEACH BUM - Harmony Korine’s first feature since 2012’s SPRING BREAKERS, THE BEACH BUM is an original and irreverent stoner comedy that follows the hilarious misadventures of Moondog (McConaughey), a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large — in a story that only Harmony Korine would be able to tell.
THE BEST OF ENEMIES - Based on a true story, THE BEST OF ENEMIES centers on the unlikely relationship between Ann Atwater (Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis (Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader who reluctantly co-chaired a community summit, battling over the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina during the racially-charged summer of 1971. The incredible events that unfolded would change Durham and the lives of Atwater and Ellis forever.
THE CURSE OF LA LLORONA - In 1970s Los Angeles, the legendary ghost La Llorona is stalking the night -- and the children. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother, a social worker and her own kids are drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope of surviving La Llorona's deadly wrath is a disillusioned priest who practices mysticism to keep evil at bay
UNPLANNED - As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, Abby Johnson was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women on their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman's right to choose led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in. Until the day she saw something that changed everything.

FIVE FEET APART - Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson) is every bit a seventeen-year-old...she's attached to her laptop and loves her best friends. But unlike most teenagers, she spends much of her time living in a hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of routines, boundaries and self-control - all of which is put to the test when she meets an impossibly charming fellow CF patient named Will Newman (Cole Sprouse). There's an instant flirtation, though restrictions dictate that they must maintain a safe distance between them. As their connection intensifies, so does the temptation to throw the rules out the window and embrace that attraction.
US - Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.
WONDER PARK - Wonder Park tells the story of a magnificent amusement park where the imagination of a wildly creative girl named June comes alive.

When Five (AKA Clone Bruce) comes to Selina to warn her about what's coming, Selina realizes that he's the one who killed her mom, lashing out at him and pointing out how he's nothing, leading to him pushing her out the window. This still catches Ivy's attention, where she uses the plant abilities she now has to help heal Selina. Selina wakes up, wanting revenge on Five. When Alfred stops her, allowing Five to get away, Alfred tries to convince her to help, but she refuses, wanting to avoid deal with Bruce disappearing, fearing him to be dead. At the end of the season she helps the GCPD use the diamond shards to find where the court of owls lairs are, so she can find and kill Five. Then taking the diamond shards, she retrofits them for the fingertips of her gloves and when they get to the base, Selina, not knowing Bruce is alive, stabs Five in the chest with the diamond tipped gloves and slashes his face, him falling out the window of the building into the river. Selina finds her

I would prefer some things to be different in the series. This is mainly a broadstrokes rewrite. God blessed me with these ideas:
SEASON 1:
Bruce sees a bat in the finale as the cliffhanger. His arc is not depending on those around him for their help.
Jim becomes imbittered about Gotham as a city.
Bullock rediscovers his desire to help people.
Selina, as a flipside to Bruce, starts to recognize her caring about people and in some ways see it as a weakness.
Alfred begins to realize that he can't control Bruce.
Have Basil Karlo be a villain of the week in place of the villain in the episode Arkham. Have Basil Karlo be an accomplished actor whose face was damaged in a car accident. Desperate to retake his roles as an actor after being fired, he kills people for the mob using an experimental face cream that he can use to make himself look like other people and his acting abilities to get close to them. The episode ends with him being shot and the cream leaking into his blood stream, though not killing him, but making him convulse and kept in a medically induced coma to keep him from being in physical pain.
The Goat episode would now be about the foundation of the Ventriloquist and Scarface. The first born, introverted, son of one of Gotham's mob families, Arnold Wesker (preferably played as an adult by Nate Corddry), is someone who is put down by his dad and comforted by his mom. As a child he used his ventriloquism to voice is emotions and feelings. His mom was murdered in front of him as a child in a mob hit while he was performing his ventriloquism act for her. This was one of Bullock's earliest cases. In trying to catch the assassin his partner was hurt badly and nearly killed and another rookie died. The case was swept under the rug by Wesker's dad, as the assassination was done as a warning against Wesker's dad for him transporting guns into the city without Falcone's approval and he did it to avoid being caught for his dealings. Arnold Wesker grew more introverted and began to not speak to anyone, except through his puppet, Scarface, which he carved as a reference to his mom's favorite movie and was performing that for her when she was shot. The main plot begins when the same assassin begins killing again in Gotham and Jim refuses to drop it when Bullock tells him to. At the end of the episode, Arnold Wesker snaps and beats his dad's head in with his scarface dummy, killing him, for not avenging his mom's killing.
The Richard Sionis thing, make him a mobster, running an underground fighting ring, where there's a deformed wrestler named Waylon Jones, nicknamed Killer Croc. Croc at this point only has more or less a harsh skin condition. Set up Richard Sionis' son. Sionis is arrested, but gets a lenient sentence in Arkham by faking insanity.
Seed a different kind of Ivy, more science child prodigy, whose mom is killed by her dad and buried in their rose garden.
Have Harvey Dent be younger, but still a few years older than Bruce. He could play as a more older brother type figure to him. Expand on Bruce's supporting cast along with that, like Tommy Elliot. Maybe Dent's abusive dad can be a storyline.
Instead of Montoya and Allen, shake up the show's structure with maybe investigative reporter Vic Sage investigating the Gordon situation.
Don't do the Ed split personality thing. Though have him become more aggressive and angry at his situations. I don't think having Kringle is a bad idea, with where it leads in season 1.
I think keeping Jerome a little more vague in his past can play too.
I'm not against the idea of not keeping Barbara Kean as the doting girlfriend, but I think take it a little more as a cold blooded approach, to the point where she's more detached and amoral, instead of straight villain. No Montoya story for her. She's kidnapped by Falcone and feels troubled, unsafe and angry at her own place, almost like PTSD and leaves. Her arc concludes when she's kidnapped, by someone called the Moth, who Jim shoots and she brutally finishes off.
SEASON 2:
Alfred starts to not try to stop Bruce in his mission.
Bruce becomes more ruthless over the season.
Jim has the same arc as in the season.
We reveal that Leslie Thompkins knew Bruce's dad and that he was a mentor for her when she was training to be a doctor and Leslie does start talking with Bruce to try and help him out emotionally, though he mostly stonewalls her.
Selina finds she starts to care about those around her and struggles with her perceived weakness and her desire to detach.
Bullock begins to get more attention for his heroic deeds and is unsure in how to do deal with it.
Ivy gets more frustrated at feeling looked down on by everyone.
Penguin questions the point of being the king of gotham due to the loss of his mom and gains a desire to make himself seem like a legitimate citizen to the public, after his interaction with his dad. Which lasts about 3 episodes, not 2. His dad's dark secret being that he has intense rage issues, like Oswald, and when he was a young man killed someone in a fit of rage. Since then he's sought to avoid that by wanting his family to be respectable.
Barbara is caught in the first half of the season same as in the show and begins to detatch herself from her emotions, beginning to desire power.
Don't do the Dumaux story in season 2. Honestly, just make it a break out. With seeding Hugo Strange pulling the strings of setting it up. Have a slightly different set of villains: Jerome, Barbara Kean, instead of that one cannibal guy use a comic character (maybe Flamingo?), and lesser tier villains like Crazy Quilt or something. Sparce them out more over the first half of the season. Don't have Jerome die. Maybe he's the one gets put in a coma instead of Barbara Kean.
Maybe have Richard Sionis going through a bit of a crime war against Oswald, challenging his status and Sionis kidnaps his mom. Sionis was released from Arkham under being declared now sane. We'd reveal he has personal backing from someone (who we'd reveal eventually to be the court of owls), who wants him to take over Gotham's criminal underworld, thinking of him as someone who can be more controllable than Penguin. Richard is equipped with access to assassins to use, as the maniax cause havoc for the police. Tabitha is among them. This leads to a very similar place, with the death of Penguin's mom. Richard's arrested, but gets out easily due to his connections. This builds to Richard orcheastrating the killing of the last of the strike team and Jim killing Richard, similar to the Galavan story.
Nygma becomes more sociopathic as the season goes on, building to him revealing he killed Dorety to Kringle, who freaks out and hits him and he kills her. Panicking himself, he hides the body, but places riddles leading to her. When Jim begins to investigate, uncovering the clues, Nygma frames him for the death of Officer Pinkney and leads the cops to evidence of Jim's involvement in Richard Sionis' killing.
I think tone down the Bridgette backstory. I don't mind parts. But maybe more like her family's controlling. They're still arsonists for hire, but they're not over the top.
Freeze's story is very similar. But Nora's kept alive by Strange. Victor doesn't know this. Strange simply uses his anger and pain to manipulate him. Nora's placed in a cryo tube.
I'd keep Jim in prison for 2 episodes.
Keep Bruce on the streets longer.
The investigating of Pinewood occurs with Selina involved as well, with Bruce still on the streets. The girl Bruce goes to see to get info on Indian Hill is Dinah Lance, who was experimented on by Strange, giving her a canary cry. Bruce helps her get away, when she's found by Ted Grant and her mom Dinah Drake.
SEASON 3:
We establish that the Court aren't allowed to kill Bruce. Bruce figures this out, saying that if they could, not only would he have died with his parents, but Alfred's friend and those assassins would have gone for him too. Bruce tells them this. They tell him he's right, but threaten those he cares about. Bruce does, in a way, try to stay out of the court's way by having a normal life and in dating Selina, but finds himself compelled to dig into it more. This leads him to the Whisper Gang, as he essentially drags Selina into the situation. We reveal that Selina's mom is a member of the Whisper Gang and that's why she abandoned Selina. Her mom is killed and Selina's angry at the situation and Bruce and blames him for her getting to know and losing her. She pushed him away.
Though Jervis claims to have only gotten in town, he was an indian hill scientist, who had Alice put in Arkham so he could manipulate her and had his hypnosis tech implanted into his own brain.
Ivy experiments with remnants of Indian Hill to try and empower herself with them, getting help from a scientist Dr. Jason Woodrue whose fascinated with Strange's research and is trying to replicate it. Woodrue experiments on her with a chemical he's crafted to bond plant human DNA. He thinks it kills her and dumps her body, thinking it a failure, but she's alive and comes out of it enhanced. Though it's defective and she finds herself aging over the course of the season. She uses the Tetch virus to stop this process, leaving her stuck in her mid to late 20's.
Leslie Thompkins' arc is basically the same. Except we reveal in the last batch of episodes that when Mario was killed, his blood splattered on her and has been slightly effecting her, then beginning to consume her as the season concludes.
Same arcs for Butch, Tabitha and Barbara.
Selina struggles as she tries to have a life of some kind and connect more with people. Her relationship with Bruce is apart of that. This builds to her feeling angry and hurt at her mom's death. And wanting to avoid deal with Bruce disappearing, fearing him to be dead. This all builds to her deciding that she's been hurt too much and doesn't want to feel that way anymore, she wants to be detached from that, still seeking help from Tabitha.
Bruce has as a similar arc, but different. Bruce wants to and tries to have a relationship with Selina, but is drawn to discovering the root of the court. He tries to balance it out, but the death of Selina's mom causes a wedge in that. After this he puts his focus on seeking the answers behind the court, why his parents were killed, why they cloned him, why they left him alive. This leads him to being taken by the league of assassins. When offered the answers in exchange for access to his mind, Bruce caves. They brainwash him. This leads to the same conclusion in the story. Though the situation plays more into the idea that Bruce thought getting answers would help him somehow, but all it did was hurt those he cared about and the city itself. He doesn't know what to do now, that he feels lost, which still leads to him deciding to be a vigilante at the end of the season.
The answers behind the court are: For hundreds of years they've been controlled by the league of assassins and Ra's Al Ghul. The court has been trying to replicate the lazarus pit process so they won't be under Ra's thumb. His explicit order was to not harm any of the Waynes. When Thomas sought to expose them, they had him killed, going through Strange's Indian Hill connections and a low level street assassin to make it look like a lowly robbery and avoid suspicion and punishment from Ra's. When Bruce began digging into Indian Hill himself, the court sought to clone a replacement to get rid of him without Ra's knowing and have someone who could be controlled amidst Ra's attachment to Bruce.
Alfred's arc is about him beginning to accept Bruce's mission.
This builds to the finale, where there are dual A-plots, instead of having Alfred simply captured by Ra's and Bruce made to stab him: Alfred challenges Ra's to a sword fight for Bruce. Ra's wins, after toying with Alfred, who doesn't do bad. The same happens, Bruce is made to stab Ra's, his brainwashing breaks, Bruce uses the waters of the pit.
Jim's arc is mostly the same. Though we delve more into his backstory of why he came back to Gotham. In the war, he made a call that got some soldiers killed, but succeeded and he was hurt, so he was awarded with a medal and honorably discharged. He blamed himself for the loss of those soldiers and thought he could make up for it by coming to Gotham and trying to do the job and be the man his dad was. When he's effected by the red queen dust and trips out, he goes through this. When he comes back to ask Barnes about coming back to the force, he tells him that he did kill Richard Sionis, explaining his reasoning at the time. Barnes tells him that he's already been charged and exonerated of that crime and can't be charged again for it. Barnes also tells Jim that he hates what Jim did, but he accepts him back onto the force due to his perception that Jim's come around and (he doesn't tell Jim this) his own declining state due to the tetch virus. In the last 2 episodes Jim, infected by the Tetch virus, questions himself, whether he actually has Gotham's best interests or if he's only ever wanted an excuse to do what he wanted (Did he have to kill Mario to save Leslie? Knowing he could've found another way than killing Sionis). When Bullock tries to stop Jim, leading to the confrontation between them, Bullock tells Jim that he showed him the path to doing the right thing, that made him feel like a worthwhile human being again, finishing that making mistakes doesn't mean those mistakes define him. This does still lead to the same conclusion.
SEASON 4:
Much of this season is the same as far as Butch, Tabitha, Oswald, Leslie, Jim, Bullock, Sophia, Bruce and Alfred's stories go.
Ra's pit is cosmic, like viscus liquid energized by irradiated energy bleeding into reality, not magic. The blade that Bruce stabs Ra's with is made out Nnth metal. It doesn't kill him due to the pit's effects on Ra's, but puts him in a state of hibernation, to drive Bruce further into his darkness.
Selina as a the season goes on is learning things from both Barbara and Tabitha. Tabitha teaches Selina agility, thinking on her feet and more advanced fighting skills. Babs shows her how to finesse her way through situations more, be cunning. Selina seeks to be like them, seeing them as role models. This season shows her as trying to cut herself off from her emotions, not wanting to care about anything, but questions that approach, wondering what's the point if you're going to hollow yourself out. She calls out Barbara and Tabitha for this attitude.
Don't kill off the pyg. He gets locked up. Sophia still reveals that while she, through an outside contractor, pointed the pyg at Gotham, she didn't plan everything he'd done.
Barbara's story is very similar, with differences, one being that her being made head of the league was a manipulation to purge the league of weakness in preparation for Ra's plan. Barbara's arc is coming to the realize that in order for her to get the power she wants, she'd have to give up those she cares for, her friends. When Ra's comes to her in the finale offering her a position of leadership by his side, after realizing he was behind Joker shooting Selina, she decides to help Bruce stop him.
Nygma's arc plays more as an issue with his lacking intelligence for the first half, increasing his feeling of inferiority. His issues are psychological still.
Riddler and Leslie do still work together, but it's not romance based. He's intrigued by her dark turn and Leslie's goal is the same.
They both decide to betray eachother. Leslie motives being more complicated, her issues with Ed framing Jim, her losing her baby and him killing Kringle.
Freeze in the finale confronts Strange about how he's recently discovered that Strange keeping him cryo-temperatures after his incident made his condition irreversible and tries to kill Strange for that. Strange bargains for his life, telling Freeze that Nora is still alive and that he knows where her cryostasis tube is.
After Penguin shoots Butch, when Leslie and Ed are brought to Strange, Strange recognizes that remnants of the indian hill chemicals were still in Butch's system and stopping his heart again reverted him back to his previous state, only now permanent.
I'd prefer for Jeremiah to be introduced earlier in the season. One of the reasons to build the friendship between him and Bruce. Now one of the bigger differences:
That's Entertainment is now Ace Chemicals. The story differences are:
Oswald got that Indian Hill barrel for Jerome, after he'd heard about something like Butch's hand and gunshot head wound being healed, so he could heal his face scars and throat.
Jerome's plan is to make Jeremiah crazy and set up his death in an explosion, then taking his place.
Jerome makes the cops bring Jeremiah to him with the same set up, just earlier in the episode. And he grabs Jeremiah and takes off when he has Jim's snipers killed.
Jim would uncover that Jeremiah has been keeping obsessive track of every detail of 's life.
Jerome drags Jeremiah to the ACE chemicals plant, the only place with a large enough chemical reserve to create enough laughing gas to spread across the whole city. The plan is to release the gas through the chemical runoff into the river and it'll spread to the whole city.
Jerome torments Jeremiah with images of his dead mom and the idea that they're the same, dressing up like him and using the Indian Hill chemical to heal himself. He also has Jervis whip up a hypnosis device to transfer Jeremiah's memories to him. It also works in reverse.
Somehow Bruce figures out where they are and uses his brucemobile to get there before the cops, after having told Jim, because he promised Jeremiah that he wouldn't let anything happen to him.
He releases Jeremiah, who, in a fit of rage tries to kill Jerome, Bruce pulling him off. We see the craziness in his eyes. Bruce manages to convince Jeremiah to let the cops have him, after handcuffing Jerome to a pipe.
Jerome breaks his hand to get out of the cuffs and sets off the 1 minute timer on the explosives in the chemical plant after he starts the process in the chemical vats to mix his laughing gas. He runs after Bruce and Jeremiah onto the catwalk above the chemical vats.
Somehow, after Jim shows up, a hail of gunfire ignites among Jerome's goons and the cops, which breaks the Indian Hill barrel and the chemical leaks into the laughing gas mixture. Jim manages to cut the last chemical mix to release it in gaseous form, keeping it from being spread like that.
On the catwalk Jerome grabs Jeremiah and Bruce defends him and they fight. Jerome pulls out a knife and cuts Bruce, which causes Bruce to react to and knock Jerome accidentally over the edge of the railing in the catwalk. But Jerome grabs Jeremiah's jacket as he falls, taking Jeremiah with him. They both fall, as Bruce tries to catch Jeremiah, but fails to in time, them landing in the chemical vat, mixing the laughing gas and now the indian hill chemical.
The explosives go off, Jim pulls Bruce out of the building, as it explodes, causing the chemicals to release into the river still, just in safer liquid form.
And the episode ends with someone, with no certainty on whether it's Jerome or Jeremiah, crawling up out of the river, hair green, face pale, who begins to laugh.
Later, when Jerome or Jeremiah start causing issues, they find a charred body, which matches Jerome's or Jeremiah's in DNA.
We proceed the same from there. Though Selina isn't paralyzed. But is badly hurt.
Ra's isn't killed at the end of the season, but sets off a part of the building their in to explode, leaving them to think he's dead. But at the end of the episode he meets up with Talia, who is Grace (the character that was running around with Bruce as he was boozing it up, played by Samia Finnerty), with them talking about it beginning.
SEASON 5:
Because Selina wouldn't be paralyzed, her story would be different slightly. She'd be hurt and need physical therapy, but not be 100% and be trying to help herself. Like as soon as she can walk she wants revenge and she tries to get it, but isn't physically able to and goes to Ivy for help, making a deal with her.
This season Ed's more private eye Ed Nygma in No Man's Land Gotham, helping the cops, in his own arrogance, basically now that I think about it, sort of Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock-like. Though he'd get angry at a lack of recognition and even failure to solve some crimes that someone, say Bruce (though maybe anonymously), is able to solve. He would then lash out and retake the Riddler persona at the end of the season.
Ironically, the idea for Lee is closer to what happened with Ed. However, slightly different. At the end of the first episode, Bruce is hurt, and is found by Leslie Thompkins, who keeps waking up in different places, messed up in the head. She patches up Bruce and talks with him about his mom and dad, saying that she set him up with his mom. They bond more. When Lee discovers that she was made to blow up the building, she has an emotional breakdown. She tried to play with darkness, she realizes and let it consume her and use her, blaming herself for the people who were killed. This leads her to further pursue opening a free clinic in Gotham to help as many people as possible.
The Joker arc would mostly play the same, minus the Ace Chemicals part. Joker seeks to force himself into Bruce's parents murder by trying to recreate it. He also seeks to use the laughing gas to try and drive Bruce over the edge. This builds to them fighting on the roof of the remains of the Ace Chemicals building and Bruce electrocuting Joker and him falling into Gotham river. He washes up on Coast City's beach with amnesia.
Jim would have in this season what I call a "mustache arc". Because of the No Man's Land situation, Jim, to preserve resources for other people, only uses what's needed to keep himself healthy and clean, but not using water for unnecessary shaving, saying he'll do it when they get back complete connection with the mainland. In the episode before the finale, at the end when the situation's been resolved, he shaves the beard, but stops short of mustache, taking a look at himself with it and deciding to keep it. Bullock quickly mocks it. As far as his character arc goes, I'd have him, after the destruction of the apartment complex, would start to not really have a strong drive. Due to the one after another situations that keep coming to Gotham. But that changes when he finds out he has a daughter...
This take is different: Barbara Kean was pregnant with her and Jim's baby while he was in the war, but her parents made her give the baby up for adoption right after her birth and just before Jim returned from the war and moved to Gotham. The child, now 5 years old, is used to manipulate Jim in the season maybe by the villains or whathaveyou. The daughter is still apart if Barbara's arc too.
The 2 episodes that were added later:
Episode 8: This is the same. But the Bruce, Alfred, Riddler and Penguin subplot is now connected, with a different threat. Ivy has in her position a key component that Ed and Oswald need for their submarine. And Bruce and Alfred are investigating people being mind controlled by Ivy.
Episode 9: This deals with Freeze and Firefly's turf war, due to Nora's cryo-stasis tube being in the GPCD evidence locker which is in Firefly's territory. Jim's infected by a time delaying freezing agent that acts slowly and falls into unconsciousness, where he questions in his tripping out, whether he's capable of being a dad due to his compromises and how he's fallen short and failed and finds God in this process, and coming to the understanding of doing better. Bruce and Selina seek to resolve the turf war to avoid more casualties.
Nyssa doesn't want revenge on Bruce for killing Ra's. She hates Ra's for passing his mantle to, not his oldest daughter, but to Bruce. And she wants to kill Barbara because she leads the a section of the league and wants them wiped out too, essentially wanting to destroy what Ra's wanted.
Instead of Bane in this season is Slade Wilson, who is an old army buddy of Jim. Regarded as unstoppable in the battlefield, the other soldiers nicknamed him The Terminator. Slade Wilson's a few years older than Jim, old enough to have his own son stationed with him in his platoon, during the time when Jim was there. Jim made a call in the battlefield that resulted in the death of Slade's son and he wants revenge for that. Though he wouldn't be involved in the destruction of that apartment complex and wouldn't even necessarily know much about it. Similar things would happen, be experimented on by Strange etc. But his character takes a different turn at the end and, being faced with the idea of killing a child, he turns against Nyssa.
In the finale, we do a time jump of 10 years, to find Joker, living as John Doe, in Coast City as an average office worker. Word on the TV of Bruce Wayne returning to Gotham causes him to remember and he begins laughing and wipes the makeup off of his face that he wears to make himself look normal.
As much as I understand wanting to keep David in the role, I think the more helpful option, to have a fully costumed and developed Batman, would be to recast for an older actor. David could've still had his moments in the episode. An idea God blessed me with is where Bruce and Selina talk and we play it more as a symbolic thing where they still see eachother as the way they were when they were teens and you can have David and Camren play those roles.
Lili Simmons as Older Selina
Thomas McDonell as Older Bruce
I think the costume being different would've helped. More grey-ish and body-suit like.
Jim keeps the mustache, along with it being slightly different. Jim himself is tired of the fight. The city's still controlled by the criminals. And Jim's gotten older and refuses to compromise again to try and achieve his goal of saving the city and is going to retire.
Oswald maintains the guise of legit businessman. As Ed works as a silent partner, messing with competition in his elaborate mind games. Batman stops them and delivers evidence finally able to put them away early in the episode. Though they still escape, Oswald finally seeing his days in Gotham as numbered as a legit businessman, decides to try and take out Jim on the pier, Jim escaping it.
There's now a full tilt confrontation between Joker and Batman. In this situation, after Joker recognizes Bruce as Batman but can't quite remember his name, stopping short of B, Batman defeats him and Jim's grip on the rope holding Barbara slips, Batman catching it. Jim asks him who he is and Batman responds that he's a friend.
When Jim pulls the tarp off of the signal, it already has a bat signal placed on it. Jim agrees to stay on as commissioner.
As the bat signal shines in the sky, Batman glides through the sky. And we end there.
Please review!

2016.11.15 19:36 qwertyified I also know what it is like to be systematically rejected by women of my own background

For those reading this who may not be aware of the abbreviations used SA= South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Sr Lankan) EA= East Asian SEA= South East Asian
Wow I didn’t realise it was going to be this long. Yes this is a rant, and I have never done anything like this before but it’s been building up inside me and I need to let it out and here I feel like I can truly express what I want to say to people who can on some level understand what I go through, but also as a way we can discuss ways in which we can move forward.
I do appreciate this piece is very long, and there is a TL;DR at the bottom but please try read it in its entirety, there hasn’t been anything like this anywhere else on the internet, so grab a coffee and please take your time.
Here is a bit of background, I am an Indian male born and raised in London I am currently a university student. You see, an issue we have within the Indian and wider South Asian community in the west is that we are not as vocal as the Eastern Asian communities, we don’t have people writing blogs, creating YouTube channels or just starting a discussion in general about issues which relate to us and our communities, and thus a lot of the problems which exist within our groups are often ignored. So I turned to East Asian blogs and commentators as I felt that we share so much especially in our struggles, and in one struggle in particular resonates with myself and that was general feeling amongst East and South east Asian males that women who were from the same background would completely disregard them as romantic partners and would actively seek dating interracially to avoid ever being linked with them.
Now another piece of information I must mention about me is that I am a dark skinned Indian, to use a reference point I am literally the shade of milk chocolate, and this one sole attribute of mine has been the determining factor for women in the south Asian diaspora’s refusal to view me as potential romantic partner. I was always aware of colourism within the south Asian community but when I hit puberty is when it started to have a huge impact on me, initially in dating but as time went on it started to affect a whole lot more in other aspects of life. I have never dated a girl of south Asian origin and that is not by my choice. “I would go out with you, but only if you were a bit fairer skinned’ is what one girl said to me. “I’m not into dark skinned Indian guys” is what another said. And another time I remember overhearing “ew no he is way too dark!” Ouch right? Others I had tried it on with were polite in their rejection and just gave me a vague excuse, but I always knew why it was so. I remember on one occasion a workmate of mine who is Pakistani was talking about her friends and dating etc. and as a joke I said “So how about introducing me to one of your hot friends?” and she replied “Oh no they wouldn’t be interested, you are not their type” to which my other male friend who was seated with us questioned her to what she meant by that but she just kept trying to change the subject and exclaim that I just wasn’t their ‘type.’ He then found out from asking her in private that it was in fact due to my skin tone.
As time went on I started to notice that among my SA male friends the one who were of a medium tone and lighter had no problems getting with SA girls, and ALL my dark-skinned SA male friends had great difficulties in attracting SA girls, to the point where in my twenties I know many guys who have never ever had a girlfriend. This problem wasn’t limited to my social circle, I started to look at the ‘cooler’ dark Indians who were from around London and saw the same trends, it didn’t matter how cool you were, or how good looking you were, if you were an Indian male who was dark skinned, you were massively disadvantaged. I remember often people would joke and say ‘Nah dude if you want a girl you gotta use fair and lovely (a famous skin lightning cream in India)’ and I would laugh, and girls would laugh, but deep down it hurt...bad. Of course, there were some attractive girls who gave us dark guys a chance, although it was very very very rare to see. And obviously, there are girls who do end up marrying dark Indian guys, but even then, they are almost always the fob girls who are much more traditional and less accustomed to western beauty trends and from what I have seen are only with us because of arranged marriages or because of pressure from their parents.
Ask yourself a question, whenever you see an attractive Indian girl on the street, or on any factual pieces of media like the news, or magazines or on YouTube and Instagram have a look at their significant other. Have you ever remembered them being darker skinned? I can confidently give you the answer now, NO. The irony is I have seen plenty of Indian female black male couples, and I see them so often now, even one pairing involving a girl who would make fun of my dark skin. It funny how these women will actively seek out a black male whilst completely disregarding a male who is from the same background because he is darker skinned.
I want to make one thing clear, every time I have talked about Indian woman in this post up until now has been regarding Indian women of ALL skin tones, not just fair skinned ones. So let’s talk only about the dark skinned Indian girls now for a minute, what’s the deal there? Surly they of all girls would give us a chance, right? Well as guys you know beautiful women, regardless of race or skin tone will ALWAYS be successful in terms of dating and that is because men don’t look for much when looking for a partner we want women who are beautiful and that’s pretty much the overriding criteria, so beautiful dark skinned Indian women will never have trouble attracting a mate, they have their selection of partners from whom they can freely pick and choose. Conversely when women choose a man they go for more than just beauty, they go for confidence, money, and most importantly status, and within the south Asian community dark skin has always been low status so why would a beautiful dark Indian girl bother with a ‘low status’ dark Indian when she can get a lighter skinned Indian. In fact, the overwhelming amount of attractive Indian girls with a darker hue I have seen are linked with white males, if not a white male they usually are with lighter skinned Indians. You want proof? It’s there right in your face on ‘The Mindy project’, her character is only paired with white males, Mindy Kaling is also the writer and producer so she has the say on what happens on the show and only pairs her character with white males. Having said that I will always support Mindy because she is representing dark skinned Indians and she also has faced intense discrimination from the SA community due to colourism and she and I are striving towards the same goals, so I say more power to her. I hypothesise that attractive dark skinned women generally date white men because dark skinned Indian women are horrifically victimised by colourism on a huge level in India and within Indian communities in the west even more so than Indian men that they get disillusioned with the idea of Indian male being a viable partner and often venture out and marry white men, I mean if you were a woman would you want to marry a man who belonged to a demographic who want to put you down in every aspect of your life based on something you can’t change? Again, I must stress this is not the case 100% of the time, but it happens so often it has become a noticeable trend.
This categorical refusal for females to date men of their own race is something I understand men of east and south east Asian origin also must deal with, albeit our situations are slightly different. The benefit that you have is that at least when you watch t.v shows and movies from your motherlands you will always see men who look like you be the hero and get the girl and for the duration of watching these shows, music videos and movies you are taken away to a place where you are free from the reminders that you aren’t good enough or sexy enough to keep women of your same background as is shown in western media, and we all know the profound effects of seeing these positive role models and stereotypes on screen can have on one’s outlook. For me however the situation goes from bad (watching western television) to worse (watching Bollywood and Indian television). The Indian media is absolutely rife with colourism, I won’t ever see someone who looks like in in terms of skin tone in any television show, any movie or in any magazine, the hero is always a medium to fair skinned male and it disgusts me that people who look like me and make up a huge portion of the Indian diaspora are completely ignored by the media. Well…not completely ignored, they need still need characters to fill out background roles like that of beggars and idiotic side characters and do you know who are roped in to play these roles? Yup you guessed it, it’s us ‘low status darkies.’ And the big wigs controlling the Indian media always give that bullshit excuse saying how they include dark models/actors/singers by saying they feature ‘Dusky skin’ people in movies and television now and how it is now attractive within Indian culture. I say Fuck ‘dusky!’ They are just trying to justify their discrimination, I want to see real dark skin none of that medium toned dusky bullshit. There is however one film which was released in 2013 which did feature a dark skinned Indian in the romantic lead, but even then, he was only the romantic interest for about half the film and he got turfed out by a fairer skinned Indian guy midway, having said that I really did enjoy the film and for the first time in my life EVER I could imagine myself as the hero, as the man that Indian women would actually want, and it felt bloody amazing. I cherish that movie for what it brought out in me and I am applaud the director for giving the actor a chance and breaking the mould. God knows when a movie like that will ever come out again in India, but I am not waiting on bated breath that’s for sure.
Another very interesting trend I have noticed is that when you do a generic search online of the phrases ‘Indian interracial’ ‘Indian men in interracial relationships’ or anything along those lines you don’t get a lot of results but of the results you do get there is a disproportionately high amount of dark skinned Indian males in interracial relationships when compared to Indian males and this isn’t exclusive to online searches, just a quick search on my Facebook can back this up. Now this isn’t exactly a bad thing, in fact it’s the only positive thing I see as a dark skinned Indian male as I personally am very attracted to white/black/e.asian etc. women. But, and there is a big but, as we know according to ‘sods law’ (as we call it in the UK) this brilliant and positive circumstance cannot exist without a disturbing much more sinister undertone lurking beneath. I came to the conclusion as to why dark Indian men have extremely low rates of success with attractive women of Indian origin yet have greater levels of success with attractive women when dating interracially and it’s because our only hope to date women we find attractive is to look outside, and so of course you would notice a higher frequency of dark skinned Indian males getting in to relationships with white/blacks etc. While this is great for those only wishing to date interracially, but what about guys like me to want to explore dating Indian women as well as interracially and have always envisioned having an Indian family, where are we to go? By the way I must state that Indians males, according to ‘OkCupid’ race studies and that infamous ‘Buzzfeed’ video “Do you have a racial preference” are the least responded to male group when compared to every other race of men. So, while it can be stated from my personal observations that darker skinned Indian males do noticeably well in respect to lighter skinned Indian males they still are at the bottom of the totem pole and are still not generally regarded as potential love interests to non-Indian females. It can also be argued that medium and lighter skinned Indian males get enough attention from Indian women that they have less of a desire to seek out interracial dating, and this could be the reason for their lower incidence of interracial dating, however I haven’t spoken to many people about this nor is there enough information out there for me to make a solid claim.
I also have experience with ‘Tinder’ and ‘Dus’ (the Tinder for brown folk), and on tinder I rarely got matches and whenever I did end up getting a match they were white or black females (4s ,5s, and rarely some 6s). On Dus, you can forget it, I got nothing, zero, zilch. Neither did my dark skinned Indian male friends. But seriously fuck online dating I learnt a long time ago online dating is bad for any ethnic male. I personally will never use something like Tinder again, and that’s because I know as ethnic males we got to lift, travel, learn, and gain confidence and approach women in real life as opposed to fishing around for leftovers on tinder.
Here are some Hollywood examples which back up what I have said above, fairer skinned Indian actors such as Dev Patel was in a long-term relationship with co-star Frieda Pinto, and Kunal Nayar is married to Neha Kapur both attractive Indian women. Let’s look at dark skinned actors: Naveen Andrews who has been romantically linked to various white women most recently Barbara Hershey, and Sendhil Ramamurthy is Married to Olga Sosnovska. The funny thing is before I found out who the latter two were linked with romantically, I knew that they would be with white women, and I often make predictions when I meet such guys in real life and my predictions are shockingly accurate. Seriously you yourself put this into practice, the next time you see an average to decent looking dark skinned Indian guy, you will see him with a white woman or with a fob Indian girl, that’s if he is with any girl at all which is usually the case.
I know a lot of you especially the non-dark-skinned Indian guys reading this will probably be thinking to yourselves ‘geez, just get over yourself’ ‘stop complaining’ ‘you’re over thinking it’ ‘man up’ etc. But this is something I have actively been paying attention to and making notes on for the good part of my life, like I mentioned before us Indians are terrible about critically analysing important issues that exist within our community, I can guarantee you that you won’t find anywhere on the web a discussion about what I have spoken of in this piece. This is something I have wanted to get off my chest for a long time and this subreddit was a good place to start, as they say a problem shared is a problem halved. I will be posting this piece of text on other subreddits targeted more towards south Asians after I have done a few tweaks to accommodate the change in audience.
So I would love to know how those of you in similar situations with me have learned to cope. It does hurt when I think about it too much, but I am slowly starting to come to terms with the dynamics and mindset of Indian women, I know a big change will need to come from Indian media sources to make any big significant change in mentality. But now I think it is imperative to support people like Sendhil Ramamurthy who are attractive dark skinned men who don’t go for stereotypical roles, and guys like Aziz Ansari who is consciously trying to get more Asian males into the mainstream in cool, well rounded roles especially with Master of None (which is amazing btw). Raising our profile in the interracial dating scene is also something we must do, and is something I will focus more on as opposed to try and change the minds of Indian women. E/SE Asian males are fantastic at raising their profiles on social media like YouTube and KPOP and they are definitely changing the tide. I am seeing on these buzzfeed videos etc. that non-Asian girls love E/SE Asian men and the love for you guys is growing. But sadly, us Indians are so far behind, we only have a handful of YouTubers and even then, I can only think of ‘MagicofRahat’ who is dark skinned and I can actually relate to, but even then, he never talks about his background.
As I come to the end of this rant I want to make a prediction. Like I’ve mentioned before I am very good at making predictions on social trends and have been right on many occasions. With the rise of Indian actresses in Hollywood such as Priyanka Chopra (who by the way is a fucking bitch who endorsed fairness creams, and then goes on an American talk show saying how she had a crush on 2-pac) and Deepika Padukone who is soon to star in the new xXx movie with Vin Diesel, Hollywood will soon make Indian women the next fetish. Promoting Black/ White males and Indian women pairing while slowly pushing out the Indian male much like how it has been for Chinese/Japanese/Korean men etc. and that only serves to push us dark skinned Indians even further out into the darkness.
Oh I have one more prediction I want to share with you; Raj from ‘The big bang theory’ will become gay, which will follow on nicely form Maulik Pancholy’s character in ‘Whitney’ finding out his homosexuality and the overt homosexual overtones of Ravi from ‘Jessie.’ I am absolutely not against homosexuality, I just find it very frustrating that Hollywood would rather portray us in homosexual roles without properly exploring heterosexual roles first, seriously what are they afraid of?
To the east Asian and south east Asian men who can relate to what I have spoken about here just know that you have a brethren in me and we must work together in finding solutions and helping others who are inflicted with the same troubles we suffer from. I am aware that colourism exists pan Asia and has reared its ugly head amongst SE Asia as well, but I haven’t seen much resources on its effect on SEA men and dating in that part of the world. It would be nice if we could in the future discuss that also. I hope this rant/essay/discussion has opened your eyes to the struggles that I go through every day and has exposed you to issues that you may very well never have heard of if it weren’t for this post and this subreddit.
TL;DR I am a dark skinned Indian male who has suffered from colourism my entire life, it has been a determining factor for Indian and other south Asian women in completely disregarding me as a romantic partner.

2016.08.04 04:31 uxdr_entrepreneur UPDATE: I built a location-independent startup from $0 to $300K while traveling the world - We’re 1 month in and there’s been many setbacks… and many exciting developments. This time we detail what’s happened, the plans for the next journey, and request help from our fellow entrepreneurs!

Hey again entrepreneur, I wrote this post a month ago about how my business partner, I, and our full-time contractor plan to build our second startup cheap, fast, and smart, all while we travel the world.
As promised, we’ll be sharing with you our plans for the next steps so you can use this some of this information yourself. We’ll also go over what’s been happening over the last month to help you avoid some mistakes we’ve already made, and to show you that setbacks happen… often. Finally, we’re looking for some advice!
I’ve learned more than I ever thought over the last year: what to do right, what not to do, and most importantly… what wastes our precious time. Your time should be for the things you love… family, friends, and those parts of your business that get you excited to wake up in the morning. Everything else… needs to be outsourced and automated. It doesn’t always work out that smoothly though…
Just in one month, as can be expected in any startup, there have been setbacks… we were denied submission to Betalist, the time to develop our web application doubled, cost estimates quadrupled, and we’ve found out that we’re going to have to do EVERYTHING manual for our first launch (no automation o_O)…
On the flip side, we’ve gotten some excited interest and insightful feedback from people who have signed up and spoken to us…
There are always setbacks in any business, and there are always exciting things along the way as well. It’s okay to feel disappointed about the setbacks, but it’s important not to feel that the business is a failure. Every setback is a learning experience… something to learn, a new skill to pick up, insight into our own ignorance, and a way to improve ourselves, our thought process, and our actions.
We’re also looking for some advice entrepreneur! Even though I’ve built designs for many SaaS apps, and collaborated with many dev teams, this is the first time all the technological decisions have rested on my shoulders. My partner is the same. We’ve realized our lack of technical expertise, and are looking for any direction, advice, or tips any of you have to give.
So let’s jump in.

First, to recap our goals for startup #2
  1. Create a company that will fully manage email marketing for entrepreneurs and small business owners, so they can focus on growing their business. Start small, with newsletters.
  2. Follow the Pareto Principle for focus only on the important things that drives 80% of business results
  3. Automate & Outsource as much as possible while maintaining high quality Move fast (side-effect of the Pareto Principle)
  4. Focus on cheap marketing methods and viral growth.

Steps to accomplish goals:
0.0 THE LAST MONTH’S SETBACKS
We’ll give you guys just a quick overview of the last month’s setbacks, as context for the changes and new initiatives we’re launching.
We had some major setbacks, including:
-Betalist rejected our application, so a large amount of expected signups was lost. Why? We didn’t include enough content about how ContentCurator would work.
-Our development team adjusted their estimate, doubling the timeline and quadrupling the cost ($1000 to $4000!!!!). We’d have to scrap development for something more bootstrap, less automated, for now.
-We had many questions and concerns from those people that did sign up, highlighting gaps in our value proposition.

So we had to recuperate, go back to the drawing board, and adjust. Here's our adjusted plan for moving forward:

1.0 PRODUCT VIDEOS
One of the most important pieces of content that a startup can have is an explainer video. It not only helps to explain the digital product, but it can tell a story, get people excited, and ultimately lead to more sign-ups.
By building simple product explainer videos, we are able to answer a lot of questions & concerns that are brought up from the early users interviews. To start building a video, we can take Dropbox’s lead to build a “prototype” (which requires no coding!), to show off the cool features and functionality of a digital product and get people excited to use it! Dropbox’s original demo video generated 70,000 sign ups overnight!
Prototyping tolls allow us to take our ideas out of our head and get it into the digital world. Tools like Axure, Verifyapp, UXPin, and Invision allow you to take a simple concept, and make it functional without any code. With a prototype, not only are we able to get our ideas out of our head, but we’re able to get quick feedback from people, build product videos that look 100% like the finished product, and ensure that a development team knows exactly what to do.
With a clickable prototype, we can then record a product demo that showcases exactly what people should expect. This should include sign up, onboarding, and main use cases that people would be interested in. With a product demo video, we are able to answer many of the questions that people have. For example, one item that came up in our research was that people wanted a way to manually approve the newsletters before being sent to their subscriber list. So in our video, we make sure to highlight this feature. We used Screen-cast-o-matic to record the demo and Movavi Video Editor to edit it.
We realized that the product demo alone was not enough to really tell the “story” behind ContentCurator, and why we came up with the idea in the first place. So we built another video that touches on our target audience’s pain points, our solution, and some exciting features. To do this, we researched online for whiteboard and animation tools, and found GoAnimate, which cost $79/month, but we only used it for the one month. Well worth it compared to the $600-$2500 it would cost to hire an agency or freelancer to build the video. We also hired a voice narrator on UpWork for $100, to add a professional tone to the video.
As a side note, we have never used any of this software before- and it took about an entire day to learn- so be prepared to commit some time if you want to create a video! (or outsource it). To create the script we used just wrote our ideas out and continuously refined them in a Google doc. Another tool in our “app toolbox.”
Finally, we wanted to build some buzz around our beta launch, by offering great perks for people who are excited to sign up early. So we created a simple walkthrough of the exclusive beta perks that early users could get by signing up and sharing with their friends. The concept of a referral program can be very effective if you offer the right perks that get people excited, because they share it with their social networks, colleagues, and friends, which can allow for rapid growth.
You can check out all three videos, which we built into a ClickFunnels marketing funnel (more on that later) here: ContentCurator product launch videos.

2.0 GET ON BETALIST
Getting denied on Betalist was a bit of a setback as we had heard great things about pre-launching through Betalist. The denial letter was a bit brief and vague, stating that “Your landing page is based on a template or does not have a distinct enough design.”So, we did heavy research on what other companies were doing to make content unique. Videos, custom images, and prototypes seemed to be necessary, whereas our original landing page had only illustrations, text, and stock images. So the Betalist requirements were another reason we built the product videos mentioned above. In retrospect, this ended up being a blessing, as we were in no way ready to launch at that point.
It took in total about 2 weeks for us to build the product videos, which we embedded into our original landing page. We submitted to Betalist just a couple of days before this post, and lo and behold we were approved!

3.0 A TRUE MVP
In the past month, we’ve signed up 150 users with just a simple landing page & referral program. We originally wanted to create a closed beta version and invite 250 people, which would be easily manageable with our planned partially automated process. In addition, a closed beta with limited invites has some added psychological perks, such as feelings of exclusivity, time pressure to sign up before beta closes, and it can even help to build an excited following of people eager to see the action.
And also let’s be honest, our beta Minimum Viable Product (MVP) has a few too many bells and whistles (we all fall into this trap!), which is why the time and cost estimates were high. For those of you that don’t know, an MVP is simply the fastest way to start learning how to build a sustainable business with the minimum amount of effort. This doesn’t need to be a fully functioning tool, just something that allows you to offer value to customers and get feedback.
Our development team is building the MVP (which we demo in the product videos) as a WordPress website using a plugin called MemberMouse, which allows our users to store and edit information, and allows us to set up an API to sync with Goodbits in the future. (An API is basically a way for 2 separate applications to talk with one another, similar to how you might sign up for a new app with your Facebook). As it will take 2-3 weeks longer for the development team, we’ve decided to take things into our own hands.
Since we wanted to launch early August, and our MVP won’t be finished until late August, we need to find a temporary solution… ClickFunnels. With a tool like ClickFunnels, we can set up a simple marketing funnel, signup, and payment process, all in just 1-2 days. ClickFunnels has a 14 day trial, and then costs $97/month after that, so we decided to use 1 month. You can see our funnel in the ClickFunnels link at the end of section 1.0.
This is the ultimate MVP, truly bare bones. We built a few pages that included the product explainer videos, a clear call to action to “Create Account”, payment with Stripe for those who wish to upgrade, and then a Google Form to collect user account information. All of this took only 2 days. The Google Form was an interesting alternative to a full account. With Google Forms, you can enable “edit on submit”, which allows people to change their answers at any time (update their account information). We also used the FormMule add-on for Google Forms/Sheets so we can send a unique URL to a customer’s email, so people can always find their answers and edit them.
Not a scalable solution, but enough to start the service and get customers.
Considering this new process, and how much manual work will be required on the back end, we changed some of our beta goals. Instead of 250 users, we want to create a “closed beta” with 100 users to test the service. We will also split the 100 users into 50 free users and 50 paid users, so we can get feedback on both the paid and free versions.
This is really as bootstrap as it gets since none of us are too tech-savvy. Luckily there’s always an app that allows you to accomplish your goals without many programming skills. And since we are traveling often we don’t have the best equipment available to make the most amazing stuff (videos, voice overs, etc) - so we do what we can with what we can find. And it turned out pretty damn good in my opinion!
We imagine many people might be in a similar boat, a great idea for a product but not sure about the technical parts. To be upfront, it certainly helps. However, my business partner had relatively little experience with apps, technology, coding or anything like that- but after just a few months he now has sizeable app toolbox. There are many tools out there that are easy to use and allow you to get the professional look and feel you need, for an affordable price.
As a reminder, we said that we would build a startup for under $600 ($562)… but we are forced to change that, in order to add some expenses to marketing.
New Costs
-GoAnimate: $79
-ClickFunnels: $97
-Movavi: $40
-Ads: $300
Total: $1078

5.0 MVP TESTING
What is absolutely essential before launching a product, before building an MVP, and definitely before testing, is to define the metrics that will lead to the success of our business. In other words, there needs to be a clear path to measure success...AND failure.
And the metrics to measure are completely dependent on each digital product. They may be number of registrations, time spent, conversion rate, repeat visits, or they may be completely tied to your specific application (e.g., to measure the user responses, you may have to invent your own metrics that make sense to your product).
In the end, the metrics usually come down to what drives adoption (signups, conversions, referrals, etc), what drives sales (purchases, subscriptions, etc), and what drives engagement (frequency of use, # shares, upsells, etc).
So for ContentCurator, the key metrics include:
1) The adoption metric we want to test during beta is virality of our customer referral program, which we want to be 1 or higher during beta. Simple virality is measured by the average # of people invited by each user multiplied by the percentage of people who actually sign up multiplied by the percent of active users who invite other people. You can read more about the basic virality formula here, and for a deeper dive, check this out.
2) For sales metrics, since our core sales model relies on hitting about 2500 active users before implementing a content promotion feature, we won’t track this yet. Our goal is to get to 2500 users as soon as possible. However, we will still define a success/fail metric; if we miss this, we need to adjust our content, marketing, or value proposition and test. For sales, we will set our success metric at 10% “instant” upsells (within 2 weeks) to our paid $10 subscription.
3) As for engagement, we are a fully managed email newsletter tool, so ideally customers should only have to log in once or twice, and continue their service happily! However, we do want to encourage beta users to subscribe to our $10/mo plan, as it is extremely cheap and the features are drastically better than the paid version. So ensuring that existing users are satisfied, AND incentivizing them to want more, will be key. For engagement, we will set our success metric at 25% upsells (> 2 week) to our paid $10 subscription, as people should have plenty of time to see the value of our fully managed newsletter service.
We will conduct usability tests extensively on the first 100 users, to get feedback on the sign up and onboarding process, the quality of our newsletters, data such as newsletter engagement, and what might encourage people to refer their friends or colleagues. During beta, we will only be able to test our adoption metric, virality.
After 3-4 weeks, we will start to invite more users, interested in either plan. At this point we will start to test our sales and engagement metrics, as well as measure churn as a secondary engagement metric.
By knowing our key metrics, and speaking directly with customers, we can adjust our strategy, content, designs, and marketing efforts. If one of our metrics are underperforming, we need to dig deep and fix it. If all metrics are underperforming, and they continue to do so after weeks or months of tweaks, it’s time to pivot.

5.0 BUILD ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES… not
After testing a beta MVP with a set group of users, it’s important to gradually automate some of the parts we are doing by hand, or we will not be able to scale the business. So we need to continuously update our web application to integrate with other email services, with marketing and sales plugins, with our partner’s email tool, etc. Some examples are:
-Communicate user data with our partner's tool automatically, so all our experts need to do is hand pick high quality content for newsletters
-Integrate with popular email tools like MailChimp, aWeber, ActiveCampaign, etc, so that our customers can connect their accounts and access their existing subscribers
-Integrate the the referral program tool with our web application, so customer accounts are upgraded automatically
The challenge is to figure out what to spend budget on first? The answer to this question is whatever leads to more customers (sales) and to less manual labor (costs). We could even hire remote contractors to handle some of the simple manual tasks while we automate more of the back-end.
Ultimately, we won’t be able to build everything at once. Building out everything at once will most likely lead to failure. We simply don’t have enough time, or funding, to do so. So by moving forward smart, fast, and within profits, we can refine… and expand through constant testing and customer feedback.

6.0 TECH QUESTIONS FOR REDDITORS! As this is our first web application that we’re building from the ground up, we’re constantly revising our plans as we learn more. To build our website and web application, we are using the MemberMouse WordPress plugin so our users can store and edit information, and we can communicate with Goodbits’s API to send the actual emails. So our questions to you guys are:
Q: Do you know any cheap alternatives to WordPress and Membermouse that might better suit our needs or are more scalable?
Q How much would a custom solution cost? What development frameworks would you recommend?

7.0 MARKET/ ADVERTISE
Even though we are relying on viral growth through a referral and perks program, we have to get things started with marketing. We built an app for the busy business owner, and as business owners ourselves, we thought the best place to market to would be the places around the web that we use. What resources or apps do we use, and where and how do they market?
To literally answer that, we use a free version of Similarweb. From there we can find who the top referrers (other websites or outlets) are to the apps and resources that we use (ex. Target Clickfunnels traffic), what the top forms of social traffic are, and where they have paid advertisements. So, we are able to market to the followers of those companies, and also market to the places where those companies market.
BETA LAUNCH MARKETING:
Betalist: already covered.
Youtube Targeting:
We built a series of explainer videos, so why not advertise it? Youtube allows you to target specific interests, channels, keywords, targeting etc. Here’s a great article to get started (another skill we needed to learn fast!). We chose to target specific keywords like “how to send a newsletter” or “newsletter marketing”. We set a $10 a day limit / 3 days with .12 cent CPM (suggested).
Facebook targeting:
Since our product is designed with the small business owner in mind- Facebook has decent targeting tools that allows us to market to various audiences. We started by targeting the applications and resources we use, because most likely their audiences will be small business owners. Examples are audiences of Clickfunnels, KissMetrics, Buffer, Neil Patel, etc. We are actually marketing and remarketing our videos in a sequence. If a person watches video 1, they will be shown video 2 later, and then a third direct advertisement if they watch that.
Instagram/Twitter Targeting:
Over the past few weeks our Twitter and Instagram accounts have been organically growing- we gained about 170 followers in a few weeks without really doing much other than the occasional like, retweet and comment. That traction has motivated us to target the same types of users and audiences on these platforms. Our goal is that the audience should see our ads across all three platforms to build awareness.
MAIN LAUNCH
For the main launch, we will focus on blogger outreach and PR. We hope to learn and utilize new growth hacks as well.
Blogger outreach:
Another group of individuals that can benefit greatly from our product are bloggers. We put together a blogger outreach plan using the Backlinko.com guide.. We color code the ones we think will need the most work, with high return. Once we have more subscribers and the application built, we will actively engage some of the bloggers for reviews, testimonials etc. In the meantime we will interact with them on social media.

Questions for you guys:
Q Besides a referral program, do you guys have any growth hacking tips that have worked well for you?
Q Do any of you have any tips or insights for connecting to the right bloggers, social media influencers, etc, in the email marketing space?
Q Is anyone on here an SEO pro? We want to actively start improving SEO immediately (we waited way too long to think about it in our first start up)

8.0 Business Metrics, Users, & Analytics We’ll cover our long-term business metrics, how we plan to continuously profile and update our user base, and our approach to using analytics in the next post. In the meantime, we just wanted to offer some short advice.
To track user data, we will use Google Analytics for the marketing website. We will use Woopra or this Google Analytics widget for SaaS to measure user behavior within the web app itself. In conjunction, we will conduct user testing via screen share, and using tools like UserTesting.com. Finally, we will A/B test with Optimizely.
From here, it’s all about adaptability, growth, and constant adjustments to keep up with the market and maintain profits. Our strategies will constantly update as we measure what is effective, and so will our approach to converting and engaging customers. If you keep an open mind and continue to learn, you can do anything.

9.0 Life The part we are all interested in… the travel, the adventure, the culture, the food, the women & men, the excitement… Well. Let’s be honest, there’s none of that. Just kidding. It’s just at an all time low as we build startup #2, as it should be…
Afterall, we’re now building two companies, it’s been a challenge to manage our time and stay productive in both businesses. Ergo, we’ve implemented a few initiatives: active outsourcing, weekly and daily goal tracking, and time tracking. For a few weeks we were getting distracted by the culture, adventure, nightlife, and parties of the places we stayed such as Saigon, Phi Phi Island, Chiang Mai, Ko Phagnan, Koh Tao, etc. Holding each other accountable to a minimum of 50 hours a week let’s us stay on track. However, tracking hours isn’t enough. We are constantly looking for ways stay motivated, productive, and goal-oriented— we’ve found that hours tracking and weekly goal tracking, mixed with our Massive Action Plan- See Tony Robbins MAP keeps pushing us forward. Internal motivation is our gasoline, and the external motivation is the oil that keeps things running smooth. Our current mantra: “profits over salary” :)
We are heading to Bali (today) and are really excited to meet some more digital entrepreneurs and business owners. One thing we have been lacking is direct mentorship and interaction with other business owners to learn new things and bounce ideas off of. Staying in one place for a month or so will hopefully give us time to grow our professional circle.
btw here’s proof of our journeys, including travel and startup tips, on my Instagram. And here’s my partner’s.
